I quit after Silverman took over, but I really need to unload stuff.
The new listing form is unusable right now because I can't find anywhere for "custom" shipping (i.e., not calculated) and research has not told me anything, so I reverted to the old form where it was very obvious.
I finally get through all the fiddle-faddle Etsy always demands (13 tags, etc.), set quite cheap shipping for my kimono and they still have that fuxing finger-shaking admonition "Buyers like cheaper shipping, do you still want to charge $9?" So I gave it the finger as I always do. The kimono weighs almost 3 lb packed.
Forgot how much I hated selling on that place (I don't mind shopping there, though I have to pick through all the mass produced items).
I have all of ONE listing up lol - I ran out of patience.

The shipping mess is why I stopped listing on Etsy before. I kind of created my shipping as a flat-rate price. And I added a calculated priority rate too.
But it took a lot of changing back and forth to get the right shipping amounts per listing. I only have about 25 items listed there and might make one sale a month, if that. And that profit is eaten up by the listing fees.

They have shipping rules you can set up, but like the rest of the site it's not very well organised. It's probably one of the most annoying things - the shipping. www.etsy.com/listing/1434677302/johnny-was-yoga-mat-with-matching?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_detailsThis seller does not actually sell vintage (or much) - it's all contemporary and she doesn't even make any pretense that it's anything else - marks new with tag yoga mat as "vintage", etc. If I hadn't taken up selling there I would write her and tell her to fux off - she's one of the problems with that website.

There have been posts online how sellers can still sell new stuff and pretend that it is vintage. So I guess that a lot of sellers are doing this.

I'm reaching the point of mercenary cynicism with Etsy and may list a few 'new' items. First I'll list all my kimono (all are vintage) and then we'll see. CEO Silverman and his pet CFO are such little shitz that I honestly don't really care.

I have been posting needlepoint items that my MIL made and have sold a few. At least they are real vintage items.

I have "free" shipping on all my items there built into the price.Still sales are very weak and, as a buyer, search is very-annoying-and-bloated-to-impossible.
