Good morning. A reminder that it is February. Snow might be coming tomorrow night.
So what is everyone doing tonight? I am working 3-11. Looks like all the college kids have every nook and cranny reserved to watch the game.

Don't need any reminders it's still winter. That's what the chill in the wind was for when it was in the 60s last week. Temps back in 30s-40s going into 20s for lows this week. Might get a coating to an inch of the white stuff. I'm thankful we got the break we did and looking forward to the early spring the rodents predicted.
Haven't watched a Super Bowl in years. Used to start in the afternoon with plenty of time to celebrate or commiserate afterwards. Commercials were the topic the next day at work. Now, it's a too long, drawn out event, too many official timeouts for commercials, lewd halftime performances and commercials suck.

I will be watching the game (kind of, while listing stuff), even though my Steelers aren't playing. Will root for Taylor's team -LOL. Just so some people's heads will blow off.
Love to watch the ads.

I'll catch the commercials later tonight on Youtube and other places. The ones I've seen so far are pretty stupid. Well, except for the Budweiser ad. The Oreo ad was kinda cute too. But the rest? Insultingly stupid IMO.

I have never seen all the anticipation to watch commercials during the Super Bowl. It is not like they are one and done. They will be around for months to come.

They aren't a big deal anymore since so many of them get leaked before the game. IMO anyway.

During a break in the rain today the DH and I took a walk - he didn't feel like riding (he's having a lot of trouble with sleep) and I felt too lazy to run. The walk was perfect and we ended up doing 4 miles over hill and dale, including exploring a few little cool, oddball places in our neighbourhood hidden in the woods and pocket parks. Just as we were getting home it started raining again.
He's in the basement listening to the Super Bowl and working on one of his bikes. I like college ball but don't watch pro football and only check in for the highlights. The attempts to politicize it are such nonsense. I still remember when the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl, the entire area was deserted - no cars, few people out, everyone was glued to their TVs. We had gone out for a walk and could hear cheering coming from various houses. It was pretty cool, actually, as the world was blue and green for days leading up to the big game, with people wearing fan gear, houses with lights up, etc. When we won, particularly with such dominance with the earliest scoring, people went out of their minds - dancing in the streets, shooting off fireworks. I think the celebrations are more fun than the games, actually lol.
ETA: Quiet here other than that, with just the usual rain, drizzle and 40s, though we might get a spell this week.

Well, I saw 4 Temu ads and one from Etsy. Etsy was selling cheese and cheeseboards? Really? Only one of the Bud Clydesdales.

Etsy has turned into a damned joke. I still have some sellers I follow, though.

National Oatmeal Day? Ugh. No thanks. I like apple cinnamon instant oatmeal but that's about it. My mom made us eat regular oatmeal when we were kids and it was like eating lumpy glue. Yuck. I was so happy when she discovered instant oatmeal with apples.
Sunny and 60 on tap here today.

I do like the Quacker oatmeal with raisins, dates and walnuts. I used to make steel cut oatmeal and added stuff to it. But now I am too lazy to do so.

Never tasted oatmeal in my life and don't ever want to. It is a consistency issue.
However, I do feel a BBQ in the near future. HEB had their chicken wing drumettes at $1.99 a lb. on sale after they apparently overestimated how many would be purchased for last weekend. May have to go back tomorrow and grab some more if they are any left.

If it's too cold for you to grill outside, you can make really good chicken wings in the air fryer.

That one's my favourite Quaker oatmeal, but I use it for a snack - a pack of it with a little milk. I don't find that oatmeal is all it's cracked up to be for actual fuel, i.e., before a bike ride or run or hike - doesn't stick to the ribs, but it's a pretty healthy snack. What works best for me are buckwheat pancakes with butter and a tad of maple syrup - I've had a short stack of those thick pancakes fuel me through 50-60 miles of a bike ride or nearly a day's hiking. I also like stoneground grits with a poached egg on the top and lots of pepper.

NOT a Superbowl ad. Just some performance videos of the Budweiser Clydesdales. First one is at the San Antonio rodeo last year, when they had an accident. I can't get over how calm all the horses were (the horse that fell recovered). And what they look like when there isn't an accident: Talk about magical animals

Yep, after checking out the weather for the next week, I put them in the freezer. If I get any more tomorrow, I will air fry them.

I'm watching Bride and Prejudice a Bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice. Minimal plot but lots and lots of great dance scenes ETA: I was wrong. The beginning of the movie had a lot of musical numbers, in much the same way the English movies had the ballroom and social scenes. The dialog picked up and the story was really good. I tell ya, no one does a musical like Bollywood It has some outside-of-India recognizable actors as well - Martin Henderson (Virgin River), Naveen Andrews (Lost), and Anupam Kher (ER, Bend It Like Beckham). Really cute movie. Prime says it's for pay, but it showed up a $0 cost for me.

Wow Val-that accident made me all teary. I don't understand what they were trying to do to make them all tangled up like that. Thanks for telling us that the horse that fell is okay.

Top with a slice of pepper jack cheese and also extra-sharp cheddar. And I roll it all up in a Lavash flatbread.

The two front horses were attempting a planned maneuver and became spooked by something in the arena or confused by a command from the coachmen resulting in them colliding with the pair behind them. Harnesses became tangled and no good came of that.

With that many harnesses in use, the occasional mishap is bound to happen. I watched a couple of other mishap videos, it still amazes me how calm the horses stayed and how much the horses trusted their handlers.

We have 6" so far and it's coming down steadily, still snowing. Our plow guy always comes late and if it's snowing he waits until it stops. So, we'll be trapped here all afternoon. I have an appointment in town at 5PM and was hoping this would all end by 10 this morning and the cleanup crews would be out. Will call to cancel about 12-noon if things don't change in the next few hours. It was going so nice with the warm weather we've been having.

Our snow didn't happen, TG. It just rained a bit this morning.
I have to go for an Echo, then will hit Aldi and WM.
Big day for me since I don't get out much.

WEATHER GLOAT WARNING...It will be 68 and full sun today. Going to get my truck washed, pick up some donated kitten food, check out Senior Day at Ross DFL for yard stuff, and HEB for more reduced price chicken wings.
Yesterday it was a Valentines extravaganza in HEB with flowers, balloons, candy, and baked goods. They must be expecting a major sales event today and tomorrow.
