Happy Belated New year's everyone! We enjoyed the get together at my sister's then DH woke up sick on New Year's day We did two of the free at home Covid test's and both were negative. We ended up going to the urgent care because he felt so bad and we didn't know what it was and of course the Dr is closed for the holiday. It turned out to be the flu! No clue where he picked it up from. We did have our flu shots in Oct but of course that's no guarantee. Because he was within the 48 hour window they gave him a prescription for something called Xofluza. They gave one for Tamiflu too she said in case we couldn't find the Xofluza especially on a holiday. She said the Xlofluza would work quite a bit faster. Well I didn't realize most pharmacies are closed on New years. Kroger and Walgreens were closed, but we found a CVS that was open and had it. It was $103 for ONE PILL WITH INSURANCE!! But he felt so cra*py what could we do. It seems to work pretty fast, he slept most of Monday and Tuesday was still pretty achy and tired but was feeling somewhat better by the end of the day. Today he's been up and around somewhat and getting his appetite back, thank goodness. I've been taking care of him and washing my hands like crazy. It's been years since I had the flu (knock on wood!) but it lasted well over a week so this stuff does seem to work.
My mannequin came today. She was relatively easy to put together and not too heavy. Her arms come off pretty easy which is what I need for the dressing and undressing. Her hips aren't too easy so I won't be doing pants on her, but I don't list a lot of pants anyway. And I have a couple of larger dress forms if needed, or if nothing else they look ok on a hanger. I am doing a photo session Saturday, so fingers crossed she works out well. She's a little creepier than the dress form, but I guess I'll get used to her lol.
We got some rain last night but it passed by this morning. The sun is out now and they are saying a high of 60 tomorrow

(((jes'sDH) That sounds scary! I went to Aldi and WM today. No one masked at Aldi but me, but I saw several masks at WM.
41 degrees today and sunny.
80 days until Spring.

All ready for training tomorrow morning at 7:15 AM after working 3-11 today and then 3-11 tomorrow. 1.5 hr training. Interrupts everyone’s whole day. Have to get people to cover shifts etc. Been on the schedule for 2 weeks.
The person teaching the class canceled today. All kinds of people affected by her last minute cancelation. But she’s special as she is attending law school while working full time. She probably won’t be able to teach it until summer.
Yes, we have a bug up our butts over her. Never had someone “special” cancel a class before. Bet she is doing something for law school. Just ticks us off like we are second class citizens.
Off my pedestal. Only good thing is that we won’t be overburdened with OT in this paycheck. We all have our holiday work hours in the next pay.

DH had an already scheduled dr appointment this morning and he said there's still a lot of congestion, and he kept asking what else urgent care did for him?? DH said they just prescribed the pill. So he gave a breathing treatment and a steroid shot and sent him for a chest xray. It makes me feel frustrated that Urgent care didn't do more. Neither one of us has ever been to one so I didn't know what to expect.

jesmelric if DH is still congested, pick up some Mucinex (or the store brand equivalent-it's usually cheaper) today. It's an expectorant and it helps. I'm surprised the doc gave your DH a steriod shot. It's effectiveness has mixed reviews. OTOH, insurance reimburses docs for steriod injections so that could affect their decision to prescribe one. Hopefully it made him feel better! www.wpsdlocal6.com/news/steroids-for-the-common-cold-what-s-the-risk/article_bf4e4e66-7af3-11eb-9e5d-831a91baee63.htmlCloudy and chilly here today. Saturday is supposed to be sunny and mid to high 60s - a good day to take the outside Christmas decorations down Ends up none of my cords shorted out. The patio electrical outlet is dead, as is the master bath outlet. Time for another maintenance request. Along with the one to fix the master tub since it's not draining. I wonder why this building has so many issues when the other building I was in had very few issues? Whatever. I still like living here.

I second the Mucinex. There are different types, so read what each does. The best one, in my opinion, for the worst symptoms is the one the pharmacy keeps behind the counter. No prescription needed, but you do have to sign for it because it has epinephrine (used to make meth). Worked wonders a couple times I was congested and had a persistent cough.
Balmy 30 degrees and overcast. Got at least an inch of the white stuff overnight. Heading out to a few places on my last day off til back to work tomorrow.
labbypaws, that really sucks. I hope someone lets her know how many people she's inconvenienced being that inconsiderate.

Neither one of us has ever been to one so I didn't know what to expect. I used urgent care ("doc in the box") for years exclusively to get care - didn't have a regular doc and only went in when I broke a bone or got really sick, like with a fever. They did a better job than for your DH. :-( He sounded pretty danged sick. I use Sudafed pretty much daily - my sinuses are a mess and sometimes I can barely breathe - it's the climate. It helps a lot - usually only one dose a day, maybe another half a dose.

Nice header, Val! Even though that scene is not familiar to you.

Nice header, Val! Even though that scene is not familiar to you. Wanna bet? San Antonio after the 2021 snow storm: We also had a lot of snow when I lived in Virginia as a kid, a good bit of snow (and severe ice storms) when I lived in Dallas, and snow in Albuquerque and Santa Fe when I lived in ABQ. That scene might be unfamiliar to Kritter, but it's quite familiar to me.

I like the CVS mini clinic for general illnesses. I can make an appointment and be seen rather quickly. I went when I had Covid. They also helped me out when I had back spasms. I did not want a narcotic. I needed generic flexeril. She could prescribe that.
I went to the regular doctor when I fell and bruised my ribs. Also went to the podiatrist when I had plantar fasciitis.

LOL! You're welcome to it. Although I will admit, I won't be complaining about sunshine and mid 60s tomorrow when I take down the Christmas lights.

I finally sold the last Hallmark special ornament. It came back in November because a spring was loose. Hubby soldered it in place and I listed it as is. Let’s hope it doesn’t come back. Sold it for the same amount as the other ones. The other ones went to Hooked on Hallmark.

Wow. Our Post Office is terrible. So terrible that I filled out the survey. It was not the counter person’s fault either.
38 minutes to get my package scanned. 7 people ahead of me. First person must have been picking up a package. Took her 10 minutes to find it and bring it up front. The PIN pad broke on the second person so she had to change to the other register. While we were waiting in line, another employee interrupts her twice asking her about her lunch break. 8 minutes for the second customer.
They still had no rolls of stamps and no airmail stamps.
My package was stamped fragile in numerous places. She dropped it on the floor from counter height. (This was her problem). It is made of plastic but I didn’t want the soldering to dislodge.
They need a means to self-scan packages. I wanted a receipt so I didn’t drop it off at the counter and run.

In honor of National Take Down Your Christmas Tree Day, I packed up all my trees today. The storage tote I bought was large enough to store three 3' trees, the 5' tree (disassembled) from the patio, and the various mini trees I had around the house. Wait, I just noticed I missed one. Arrggh. Hopefully it will fit too, but no problem if it doesn't, it's a little tree on my desk. OK, so I really didn't do that in honor of Take Down the Tree Day...it was just coincidence that I'd planned to do that today. All the outside decorations are now packed up. Whew. I'll get the inside stuff packed up tomorrow. Then it's time to rearrange the furniture

The kitties should help with the inside stuff. It's only fair. They do. They inspect the totes while I'm filling them, and supervise the whole process
