Favor delivery was having issues last night so I ended up canceling my order. I went with the philly cheesesteak at the food truck and it wasn't worth the money. I won't do that again. He has a grill and doesn't even toast the buns Sunny and 60 is our forecast for today. I got an email from Bath & Body Works announcing their Christmas fragrance lineup. I may have to buy a few. I never could shop in the stores as I'd get a splitting headache within minutes of entering the store. Now, though, I can shop online and return any scents that give me a headache. Plus they have descriptions of the scents online, which helps, as I have a good idea of which scents to avoid. They have a bunch of Christmas scents - decisions, decisions I also got emails from Kohls giving me $10 birthday Kohls cash and from Belk giving me $10 birthday Belk reward dollars Gotta love retailers with rewards programs.

I got my Covid booster today. They are giving Moderna, although my first 4 shots were Pfizer. Stopped on the way home for my new obsession-McD's mocha frappe. I don't buy anything else at McD's, but love the frappe!

I tried to order again on Favor and had the same problem. Over 15 minutes after the order was placed, it still hadn't been assigned to a runner. The way Favor works, your order is assigned to a runner, then the runner places the order with the restaurant and picks it up/delivers it. Usually a runner is assigned within a minute or two of placing the order. This is the second order in a row I canceled because of no runner. Oh well. Guess I won't be using Favor any more.

My friends who raised $10,000 last year for Skeletons for St. Judes, hit $20,000 this year! After this was posted, they made another $142. I'm not sure if they were national champs or not this year.

My grandson stopped in briefly in his clown costume, before meeting friends to trick or treat. I gave him $$ in a card and 3 cans of his favorite Progresso wedding soup. My daughter just wrote to me to say that in spite of all of his candy, he is eating the soup. LOL And she is getting into his candy. I do miss sneaking candy out of my daughter's pumpkin containers. I didn't get any Halloweeners, as usual. Your grandson is a man after my own heart! Progresso makes the best wedding soup and I'd eat it over candy, too.
Once I was at a favourite restaurant with a bunch of friends. This restaurant was famous for their absolutely luscious carrots roasted with pepper, cinnamon and a hint of sugar - succulent! I had a side dish of them with dinner, and they were so good that when people were ordering desert, I ordered another dish of those carrots. They said "that's not desert!" and were laughing at me. I asked them to define "desert" - they said "that treat after dinner." I said - you've answered your own question.
The rains have returned - the DH raced ahead of the squall and got home before it hit, but I managed to be out in it running errands. We're going to Canada next week on a hiking/pubbing/cathedral-visiting trip.

I don't buy anything else at McD's, but love the frappe! I hope you do OK with the booster - I was sick for two days. I'd cleared my calendar, expecting it but still...bleh.
As for food delivery - the only delivery I ever used was from the Asian place down south of me and they were so great - the same guy always brought my stuff and we'd chat while I was signing for my order - I always included a good tip for him, but they didn't predicate their delivery on tips, they just brought the food over. Once one of the cooks came to deliver the order lol! The owner retired and now there's a pho place there - I need to try them. I love pho, but it's salty so I have to 'make room' for it in this blasted low sodium eating plan I'm supposed to adhere to.
My blood pressure is finally down to just slightly "elevated", though (as good as it will ever get, as if I get to that silly 120/80 nonsense I tend to get lightheaded every time i get up from a chair - I've always been this way).

@chap ... We need a recipe for those carrots!
I had mild nausea last night, but so far today I am okay. My butt doesn't even hurt-yet!
I never have food delivered, but I order online and then go pick it up. But it is usually when I am shopping in the area, so I don't have to make a special trip to pick it up. My daughter gives me restaurant gift cards, and I use those. When I order a meal, it feeds me for a few days.
I wish that I could get my BP regulated. Last Friday, after I had my chemo, my BP was 74/46. That is insane. So I learned not to take my BP pill and beta blocker that night after chemo. I have to take my BP every evening before taking those pills. My systolic can go up 40 points in a half hour. The monoclonal antibody that I have been taking for almost 20 years does mess with the BP.

I took out my Broomster from back of the Cube to brush off about 2" of heavy, wet snow from the top, hood and windshield before I went over MIL'w to do laundry yesterday. This morning, the snow is gone except for a small bit on a few vehicles. Today's thrill is going to grocery store for a few things, filling up gas tank and stop at a few more places. Got wheedled into working another 4 hours on Fridays, but at least it's 10am-2pm.
Hard to believe this is already November. I thought Ohio voted to eliminate setting clocks back and forward, but once again, we'll "fall back" this weekend. Pita setting 6 clocks plus my watch back and DH does the 2 battery wall clocks because they're hard for me to reach. Sucks because it doesn't help me any. It will still be dark going to work Monday and Tuesday at 5am and just make it get darker earlier.

The thing is if we don’t set the clocks back it will be dark at 8:30 AM when the little kids are going to school.

I wish we'd stop daylight savings all together. AZ doesn't participate and I noticed a difference. I didn't have the sleep issues at the two time changes. You also got used to the days shortening naturally and the early dark in Nov/Dec wasn't a big deal since you'd already acclimated to it. No suddenly going from light at 6:00 pm to dark at 6:00 pm overnight. How many days a week do you work, Stay? I'm impressed that you're willing to get up at 5:00 a.m. I won't even take a doctor appointment before 9:00 a.m., but that's mainly because I absolutely refuse to drive in rush hour.

The thing is if we don’t set the clocks back it will be dark at 8:30 AM when the little kids are going to school. We want to get rid of the time changes because it makes no sense up here, but we go round and round about whether to stay with Pacific time, or go to Mountain time, because if we don't set the clocks back, it's still dark at 9:00 a.m. during the winter, if we do then it's getting dark at 4:00 pm (which is what we have now). Most of it comes down to traffic safety issues. It's 9:08 right now and still fairly dark, as a matter of fact, but it's also heavily raining. Denise - I don't have the recipe for those carrots, alas. They're a family secret of the family who owns the restaurant. It's an authentic Italian restaurant, though, so there may be something similar to find in Italian recipes.

The little kids here get to stay in their nice warm homes until the bus stops in front of the house and they usually dawdle out. And it will stop at every other house sometimes so light or dark out doesn't matter. When I went to school back in the Stone Age, we had to group together at designated stops and if you weren't there, you either stayed home or someone had to drive you to school.
Val, I leave for work at 5am. My alarm goes off at 4am and since I'm not a "pop out of bed" person, I set the snooze 3 times for extra 21 minutes to slowly wake up. 8 hour shifts from 6am-2pm on Monday and Tuesday and 10am-2pm on Friday, so 20 hours a week. I'm just hoping roads will be plowed and salted when I leave that early in the morning this winter.

I always tip. Favor has a minumum default tip of $6.50 and it goes higher on higher $ orders. Favor also gives you the option to adjust the tip after delivery. I often increase the tip, especially if it's a small order. I've only decreased the tip twice, both times based on driver issues. One of those times, the driver kept texting they were on their way and would be delivering shortly...food was finally delivered over 90 minutes later than promised by the app. I think that driver was trying to do two orders at once, which is difficult to do with Favor. I think the issue is with Favor itself. According to several message boards I read, delivery drivers can do 2-3 times the number of deliveries in the same time it takes to do one order with Favor. Doordash/UberEats/etc all send the order directly to the restaurant. While the order is being prepared, the drivers sign in to accept orders, go to the restaurant to pick up the food (no having to wait on the food unless the restaurant is unusually busy or driver arrives early), and deliver it. The drivers can easily do 2-3 deliveries in one trip, especially if the orders are from the same restaurant or several restaurants close together. They save time and make more tip $$ "per hour". Favor, OTOH, requires the driver to accept the order, place the order with the restaurant, wait on the order to be prepared, then pick it up and deliver it. Takes about 3 times longer for the driver that way and also makes it difficult to tack on additional deliveries from the same restaurant or nearby restaurants. That's a LOT of wasted time for someone who is counting on tips as income. However, a lot of drivers on those message boards also said they keep a list of the non-tippers and don't accept deliveries from those addresses. I'd be surprised though if I was on a non-tipper list. After I canceled my Favor order last night, I ordered from DD and had it at my door in less than 30 minutes. Sunny and mid-60s on tap here today.

I don't make any appointment before noon. If it is a fasting lab appointment which are twice a year, I schedule it for 11:00 because that is the last appointment they will make for fasting blood work. Other than those two appointments, I don't leave the house before noon.

It's a mixed bag in my district, but generally if you're junior high or older and live within a mile of the school, you walk, bike or are driven by parents (the latter gets heckled by the other students for having to be driven) - some older high schoolers carpool if one of the kids has a car, but teen car ownership here isn't that high. For the bus kids are let off in little packs every quarter mile or so, it seems. Kindergarten and little grade schoolers have closer stops, though - I know that the kindergartener in my road gets let off at the entrance to the road, and his aunt or grandfather wait for him. The schools are right in the neighbourhoods so everything is pretty close by.

Just a heads up for EVERYONE - if you're posting a new bad buyer and there is no thread started yet for the current month, would you please start a new thread and not just add it to the previous month? Lots of folks have been doing this, so this is NOT directed at any one person. It's not that hard to start the new BBL monthly thread. Thanks all!

My grandson walks to and from the bus stop which bothers me. It is about a 1/4 mile and some of the neighbors are "strange", according to him.
He is only 11, my little boy. I am overly protective. He loves to ride the bus, though. A couple of times he has missed the bus, both morning and afternoon, so he tries to walk home, which is about 6 miles. He has ended up calling someone to pick him up. That's good since some of the areas that he has to walk through are less than desirable.
I had been covering my hydrangeas and hibiscuses, but they froze anyway. I hate this time of the year.
I am with you ladies about early appointments and prefer them to be in the afternoon. The scans that I have to fast for are rough though. So I make them at about 10 or 11.

I do everything first thing this time of year. I don't want to go out walking until 9 AM as it is a bit warmer. I make vet appointments around 9:45 though as it is a drive and I don't want to be driving dogs around during rush hour.

I made an appointment online for a local urgent care facility today. I had a choice of live or virtual. I picked live because the doc would need to see my elbow and that would be hard to see on a small phone screen. I get to the place and they tell me there is no doc in today and my visit would be virtual. I was not happy. I blasted them in the feedback form they sent me after the visit. The website should not have allowed me to make an in-person visit if that option wasn't available. IMO anyway.

He'll be fine as long as he knows the rules of the road - no talking to strangers, walk briskly. Also, he seems pretty tall for his age. I was on my own at 11, though (latchkey kid) - since no one cared one way or another where I walked I ended up in some strange places, but I stuck to the "no talking to strangers, keep walking like you mean business." Six miles is another matter, though - good for him for giving it a try, but he's smart to call someone to pick him up! That's just too long for a kid alone.
Val - I wasn't sure if I could start a new month thread or not so I just tailed my BBL onto the August thread. It didn't occur to me that a monthly BBL thread was just like any other thread lol. Duh.
It's raining pretty steadily now so we've settled in for the Big Dark -we had a nice little autumn! I don't mind the Big Dark but the DH complains about it all the time. Ugh. I said he should move down to Arizona and I'll just stay up here and we can email lol.

@chap... I agree that it isn't too far to go to his bus stop. In my day I used to walk 2-3 miles a day into town, without a worry. Although my area is relatively crime-free, there are some questionable characters in his neighborhood.
He is okay staying home alone once he gets home from school, and that is good. I was also alone at age 11 and had to grow up pretty quickly.

I used to walk a half a mile to school K-4th grade. I think my grandmother may have walked with me for Kindergarten, I don't really remember, but I do remember walking it alone from the 1st grade on. I remember the street smart lectures my grandmother gave me. She was a take care of yourself, take no prisoners kind of person

I HATED the bus with a passion when I was in grade school. My sister and I rode our bikes to school (about 3 - 4 miles one-way) just about every day. My mom would take us only if she decided the weather was too inclement!

I can't believe I used to be up, showered, dressed, and out the door early in the morning everyday for so many years when I worked.

My sister by another mother. It is even worse in winter. Cold weather throws my whole routine into slow motion.
Yesterday I had to take one of my cat spay/neuter donors to the Humane Society for a meet and greet and to tour their amazing hospital. The Humane Society scheduled the appointment at 10:00. I set my alarm for 7:00 so I could be up, alert, and ready to roll by 9:30 to pick up the donor. I had picked up some cat face cupcakes at HEB the night before because I knew a stop at the store on the way would be totally out of the question.

Reminder for those us us who still have to play with our clocks twice a year to turn clocks back an hour before bedtime. I've already done all but my watch (have to remember how) and 2 wall clocks DH has to do. Nice to get the extra hour, but either backward or forward change messes up my inner clock for a few days.
