Good morning, everyone! October's already half over, leaves are changing colors and falling off, temps are dropping, getting darker earlier. Hard to believe I'll be finally meeting my longtime friend in GA next week and following Monday starting 8 hour shift at new job that starts early in the morning. With that said, I've enjoyed doing the Weekly Chat Thread, but won't be able to do it anymore after today, so if someone else would kindly step up to take over, it would be greatly appreciated. Hope everybody has a most acceptable day!

Well crap. I have computer elbow and it hurts like heck. Since I HAVE to work, I'm going to have to work on the PC for an hour or two (max), then stay off and rest my arm for an hour or two, and repeat. I only did the minimum today, maybe 90 minutes, then took the rest of the day off (except for typing this LOL). It seems to have helped a little. I may do the same tomorrow. I have one client I have to get done but I think I can get him done working an hour on, hour off, etc. You guys do NOT want computer elbow.

I have computer "heel of hand" or whatever the part is at the end bottom of my hand that rests on my desk to use the mouse. I have a folded hand towel to rest my hand on.
But the elbow would hurt worse!

But the elbow would hurt worse! Denise - I had that hand/wrist pain several years ago when I used to use my desktop computer, now I just use my laptop. What helped was very thick shoulder pads from old fashioned jackets/sweaters that were velcro removable. The curved shape fits right under the bottom of the hand and it's thick, foamy, and supportive. I found it better than a rolled towel. I also had that pain Val mentioned in my elbow. My orthopedic doctor called it tennis elbow instead of computer elbow. I couldn't even turn my hand outward without severe pain in the elbow area. It lasted almost a month and I finally gave in and got a cortisone injection in the elbow area. Pain was gone in a few days and never came back.

Stay, good luck with your new job. Let us know how it goes.
Val and Denise, I hope you find quick relief from your pain.
I'd be happy to start the weekly chat thread unless someone else wants to do it. However, I certainly wouldn't be able to find as many wonderful seasonal images as Stay has always posted, and I would start the week on Sunday, following my calendar. If someone else wants to start the weekly thread, that's fine with me, but I'm willing to do it if needed.

Sounds like a plan. Thank you
BRRRRRRR! 67 degrees in my house this morning and heat switched on for the first time this season. I hate cold mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

The pics and videos in reviews are cute, too.

That Temu place can suck you right in to a bottomless pit of stuff that they know that you just have to have at their incredible prices.

staytuned Thanks for all the great memes and pics. Hope your new job is a happy thing. Val, I sometimes get that elbow pain. I use a topical capsaicin treatment and it helps some. You need a good anti-inflammatory in addition to rest because the pain can feed on itself. Kind of a gross image, but it is almost Halloween...

Doesn't make any difference to me when it starts. I am retired so I never know what day it is anyway.
Oh wait, I know when Sunday and Wednesday are because I have to get the trash /litter out for pickup on Monday and Thursday.

I reduced my stuff to “Priced to sell”. Sold an item tonight. I have one more of that item. Need the money! I want to list more stuff but it is so hard with working full time, taking care of the gang and walking 4 miles a day.
On another note, there is a shredding event Sunday. A bit of a ride but I really need to get rid of stuff. Going to dump more tax stuff including my parents tax stuff who have been dead since 2010.

Ends up I don't have computer elbow. I have cellulitis.

Just. quick check in, I am doing very good, just not on the computer much anymore. I read and check on things to see what you all are doing though. DH had cellulitis, it is painful, he had it in his knee took a while to heal but had to keep it clean and take really good care of it.
What I am up to...
I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be raising kids again, girls especially, lol. They are emotionally very young but I have the youngest one who is 20 growing up nicely, slowly but surely. She got her driver's license and is taking 3 classes in college, her sister graduates in the spring but will be 25 and has never had a job so that will be a wonderful adventure for her next summer finding a job with her delicate constitution, everything is an ordeal or catastrophic. I am working with her on lessening the doom and gloom in things. She is majoring in English at a 4 year college but won't teach, doesn't have a plan. She suggested going back to community college to get her legal assistant certification, Dad told her that was a great idea but he wasn't paying for it, he already paid for 7 years of college and that was it. I suggested she look for an internship with a local lawyer and see if she could work and they would help pay for her to get certification. Her senior thesis is on gay themes in Dracula and other vampire literature. I suspect she is gay but is not comfortable coming out yet, I am trying to give her a safe space to be herself.
BUTTTT...My huge take away from this is girls are dirty, disgusting dirty, I won't even use their bathroom it is so bad. They don't do their dishes, their living space is filthy. We keep cleaning the rest of the house and hope to lead by example, so much extra crap hanging around still working a little at a time to organize or get rid of things.
I am volunteering for a local charity, I ran their community closet in the spring, helped with school supply and food bank drive in the summer, now working on toy drive. I have been shopping goodwill senior day and color tags to put together stuffed animals, puzzles and books to donate. Need to check my basement and BF toy room again and get the girls to let some more stuff go.
Hope every one has a great day!!

Ugh. Cellulitis. My friend gets it every few years. Usually ends up in the hospital for IV antibiotics. Hope the symptoms go away soon Val.
I listed my ornament on a local page. Have had it listed for several years on eBay. Finally gave up and reduced the price. Last night I posted it on a Hallmark group. Sold all three to one of the buyer/sellers who has a webpage. I don’t care if I took a major hit on them (3 of the same). They sold and are out of my sight. It is a highly collectible signed Hallmark but the right buyer hadn’t come along. Sold for $250 each. Next is to sell my collection.

Val-ugh to cellulitis. I hope that you can get rid of it quickly!
Yay for me, I guess. Saw a thoracic surgeon today and he wants to wait for me to have another CT scan in December to see if my lung spot is still there. But my onc was worried about the spot. Apparently, the surgeon did talk to my onc about it.
I wasn't averse to quitting my current chemo from heck, but will have to wait and see.

alli-I was wondering about you and glad that you wrote! You sure are keeping busy!
Both of my girls liked to have clutter, but not disgusting dirtiness. But so many toys and clothing items all over the floor! I used to pick up all of the stuff, put them into trash bags and toss the bags out their windows to the driveway below. So when they got home from school, they were greeted with a chore that they had to do.
LOL that now my daughter is dealing with the same thing with my grandson! So there! Like mother, like son.

Awww, thanks everyone for the nice comments and well wishes. Finding pics really wasn't that hard. Just google what you're looking for, like funny animal summer pics, funny winter pics, etc. and images would show that clicking on link brings up lots to choose from. Good luck to you, Emerald, and I'm sure you'll find great pics to post, too.
I am all packed except for what clothing to take and have a couple stacks to choose from. Figure I'll be buying at least a few tees so won't really need much going down. If I find a lot of stuff, I can always mail package home that'll be a lot cheaper than paying $60 to check in a bag (I'm taking purse and carry on only). I just hope security checkpoint isn't too busy and no hassles getting through, like going through body scanner and still getting poked in the gut like the Pillsbury Doughboy because fat looked "suspicious". Will take notes from training to peruse in evening because when I get back, I want to prove I can do a shift on my own for some peace and quiet. The captain reminds me of SIL's parrot- they never shut up, lol.

allikat - I just wanted to say that when my cousin got married, her husband had two daughters who were running wild - their grandparents spoiled them and dad had no control at all, and they were growing up with no guidance. My cousin, who has a strong mind, gave these girls a steady, consistent hand and it was amazing how they responded - they liked having the limits and guidance, and as they got older, one wanted to live with my cousin, her step-mom, rather than her mother. Both daughters have long since turned out to be amazing young women. I like to say that my cousin married this somewhat boneheaded, though not bad, man to save his daughters (they divorced after 16 years and she married someone wonderful who her daughters also really like).
suspect she is gay but is not comfortable coming out yet, I am trying to give her a safe space to be herself.
Thanks for doing this.
I'm fine with the Sunday split - makes no difference to me - thank you, Stay, for your work!
I am doing nothing interesting.

This situation is almost exactly what I walked into. Ladies are 20 and 24 and have never done anything for themselves, grandmother and mother both did everything. Mother passed in 2018 and grandmother passed in 2019, dad was never allowed to discipline or make the girls do anything so he was unequipped to take over, especially with grieving then Covid. I have been on my own since about 9 years old and never depended on anyone to do much of anything. When I first came around, they wouldn't go to the hairdresser without dad going too, same with dentist and grocery store. I took my time getting to know them and started making them responsible for things. I taught them to grocery shop, to book their own hair appts, etc. I kept telling them they are women and need to take responsibility for their lives. The one was laying on the couch for 2 years after graduating high school doing nothing, that would not have happened in my house and the other is going part time to college working towards a 4 year degree. My rule was full time school, full time work or part time school/work. None of this laying around. We are taking baby steps towards a brighter future, they are smart women they just need to figure out how to be independent and strong. That's what I am there for. Life is going to change for them at the first of the year, no longer will they be able to spend like drunken sailors on leave, they will have an allowance each month. The one who is graduating from college is being told on a weekly basis she needs to find a job once she graduates, doesn't matter whether it is Walmart, McDonalds or in a law office something needs to happen. We are just gently pushing them towards adulthood, I had always heard that when tramatic events happen to you when you are young your emotional growth is stopped at that age. I firmly believe after walking into this situation that is true. I felt they are more young teen age instead of acting like 20 year olds, we are now at the late teen age, lol. But progress is progress. They like me so I don't want to do anything too drastic because if they don't like me I will make no more progress. I like to say I am playing a long finesse game, not a quick fix. Sorry to go on and on, its just a little frustrating at times but it does have it's rewards too. DS and his wife are doing great, they just celebrated one year with a trip to CA and CO to camp and hike in the National Parks.

When I first came around, they wouldn't go to the hairdresser without dad going too, same with dentist and grocery store. Wow. I can't even begin to imagine being that way I moved out as soon as I could, I was 20. I'd spent the year before that living in the dorms at the college. Never regretted moving out. I was 20 when I went to see a movie by myself. I wanted to see Star Wars but none of my girlfriends were into "sci fi" so I went by myself. I also remember thinking, "if I wait on people to go with me to do things, I'm going to miss out on a lot of things." I was 23 when I moved out of state on my own. But I didn't take my first solo vacation until I was 40 (after which I wondered "WTH did I wait so long to do this?"). Sunny a bit warm today, it's 92 right now. Ugh. But we're back in the low 80s/high 70s for the rest of the week.

Hoping to hit a shredding event Sunday. Have the stuff ready to go. Emptied 7 tubs of tax stuff out of the attic. Got it down to 5 tubs to shred.
Gotta wash the tubs before taking them up stairs in the attic to put stuff that are in boxes into the tubs.
Making progress up there.
Still have to bring out my winter clothes. Tried on a tub of pants but too tight yet.

Val----how is your arm? Hope that it is better!
We will have a frost Sunday night, so I will be covering my hibiscuses and hydrangeas. They took so long to bloom nicely, and I am not ready for them to die. After Sunday, the temps will go back up to the 70s.
