Does anyone here have a noodle board (stove top cover)? Is your stove gas, regular electric coil, or glass electric cooktop? Do you like it? I'm thinking of getting one to expand my counterspace. I almost never use the stove top. For those who don't know what a noodle board is: elliro.com/blogs/blog/what-is-a-noodle-board

Never heard of one but now I need one, lol! I use our glass cooktop stove as counter space between almost daily dinner use and love the idea of protecting the glass & look of the wood top.

... I use our glass cooktop stove as counter space... I do, too, but the black glass shows every little thing. Countertops seem to be more forgiving of smears and schmutz!

You can get silicone mats for the tops of glass cookstoves, and they're cheaper than the wood.

I definitely need to get one of those or just a piece of plywood. I have covers over my electric coils now to protect them but a cover over the whole thing would make a better platform.

Thanks Val! The board would probably too heavy for me since I have lymphedema and can't lift heavy stuff. But the silicone one looks like I really need it. And it is cheaper too.

As long as the knobs and buttons can’t be moved by a pet. Hubby has had some fires caused by dogs and cats hitting the knobs on the cooktops.

We had to get childproof knobs inserts for our gas stove bc the pup jumped up on the knobs one day and turned the gas on!! Thank god we were home and I noticed it.

I never knew these covers existed. I'd love to get a black silicone one for our cooktop, but it's a separate built-in black glass cooktop right on our kitchen island, not part of an actual stove. However, the cooktop has actual dial knobs to turn each burner on, located right on the cooktop. If they were flat electronic buttons it would be great but there are four large knobs between the two front burners plus smaller dial knobs to turn on the center downdraft fan and one for the bridge burner. Looked all over Amazon, nothing to fit it. I did find a few silicone tops with cut-outs but for different model cooktops. I know I would make a mess of it if I tried to cut it up.

Desire, you might try looking on Etsy to see if there are any sellers who can customize the stove top mats. pyrexandpearls, thanks for the tip on child locks! I wouldn't have thought of that. I see there are several different styles on AMZ. I'll have to get a set. Not as much for the cats (they've never turned the stove on before) but for me - in case I forget and turn on a burner, or accidentally turn a knob while the noodle board is on there.
