Did anyone catch 60 Minutes last night? They had the story about the Ebay stalking of Ina. It's available online to watch, now.

Yep. I saw it. I felt that it did not show eBay in a good light.

Yep. I saw it. I felt that it did not show eBay in a good light. If the show was accurate, then eBay should NOT have been shown in a good light. What the executives did was inexcusable.

I watched it this morning. Disappointed that they did not feel they could charge ebay. I also felt the story could have delved deeper into it. They may not have because I think the civil litigation is ongoing.

I watched it on YouTube, and a lot of commenters said they would never buy on eBay again.

I watched it on YouTube, and a lot of commenters said they would never buy on eBay again. That sounds like all those peeps who "will never buy on Amazon or Walmart again" because they treat their employees like crap or whatever and then, lo and behold, they find a great deal on something they had to have on Amazon or Walmart and completely forget they were never going to buy from them again. Social media warriors online but not in real life.

Social media warriors online but not in real life. You're probably right. But some of us do stick to it. I have two companies I refuse to buy from. One had something I liked that I couldn't find anywhere else, no matter how hard I looked. I decided I really didn't need it if I had to buy it from that store My favorite social media warriors are the ones who decide to boycott a company by throwing out the already paid for stuff they have at home. Um, guys? You're throwing your money away and not really doing any damage to the company.

In a lot of cases I think that it is more about throwing their words out there and not really throwing out the stuff. A protest on social media with no actual documentation on the reality.
Kinda like a bragging thing going on but then I am not a social media person and don't see the need to document my every move on the internet so what do I know.

Boycotts work by not buying new stuff from a company, so their sales are affected. Example, if one "boycotts" by throwing out one's already paid for Nike shoes, that's not going to affect Nike at all. I'd call that a temper tantrum, not a real boycott I suspect Nike laughed at that boycott. IIRC, it also didn't last very long There will probably be a few who will boycott eBay because of this news story, but I suspect most of those will be buyers who are already annoyed at eBay so it's no great effort for them to shop somewhere else.

I see so many complaints about WM, so the complainers shop elsewhere and pay more for the same items. If that makes them happy, so be it.

The thing about Walmart and others is to know who you are buying from. They host sellers on their page. I always click Walmart only.

I learned that the hard way when WM added pro sellers & MP sellers to their site. A few small items that I ordered were shipped with an $8 fee. And I am still amazed that a $3 item on WM is also being sold by those sites for $40.
