Jingles was left in a carrier by the side of a Target the week before Christmas. She was there for 5 hours before a neighbor found her at 11:00 PM on a cold and rainy night and took her home. I took her to be spayed at the clinic the following Wednesday and she was supposed to recover at my house and then go back to the neighbor's house to socialize for adoption as she was walking on the feral side. She was in a cage in my den and had come a long way so it was time to move so she didn't become attached to me like Murphy and Chance are. I contacted the neighbor and all I got back was excuses about how inconvenient the timing was for them yada, yada, yada. Jingles is now in with Terrell and Chanel for the time being. Still a little wary around me in the bigger space but it has only been a day and she is not hiding. Those neighbors don't know it yet but they have burned their bridge with me.

Jingles is very handsome/gorgeous (you used "he" and "she" LOL, which is it?). Is she/he still talkative?

Thought the word "spayed" would have given it away. Corrected the one "he" reference.

oops, didn't see the spayed! My goof! She's still gorgeous though. Is she still talking back like she was before Christmas?

At least they rescued her! I'm glad she's safe and warm now.

Don't have as much contact with her now as I did when she was in the den. I need to block out at least an hour every day to sit down and play with her.

Yes, she is safe and warm but in the animal rescue world, one does not be the good samaritan, rescue an animal, and then dump it on somebody else who they have asked for help. This was not my first rodeo with animal rescue with these neighbors. Take advantage of the situation once, it's on you. Take advantage twice, it's on me. There will not be a third time.

That could be a plan. I want to get her a litttle more used to being in that room with so much freedom to where she doesn't flee automatically.
Also have put some feelers out for another foster to take over but it's a long shot.

I thought this was just a gorgeous photo, capturing all three kittens looking like professional models. ❤️ Also, another idea for kitten names for Kritter's next bunch -- The Weather Kittens: Rainy, Cloudy, and Sunny.

I got a call yesterday about a sick kitten that the 18 year old "owner" was going to dump in a box somewhere because she was going on vacation and didn't want to spend any money to take the kitten to the vet. I called a friend who lives in the area and asked her to pick the kitten up. She said that when she and her husband got there, the girl opened the door, handed her the kitten and closed the door. She sent me the pics and it looked like the kitten had an eye infection mostly likely caused by an Upper Resp. infection as the kitten was also sneezing. I went over to see her today and this kitten is the sweetest kitten ever. She knows no strangers and demands to be in your lap or right by your side at all times. She is definitely running the show there. After cleaning her eye of all the gunk, I am not sure there is an eyeball there. Called my vet and we have an appointment next Monday morning. Hoping it is something that meds will take care of.

Makes me want to smack the shit out of the owner. I'll be in line right behind you. I can administer a pretty hefty kick up her backside. Did I miss what happened with Jingles?

Jingles is still here. She is with Terrell and Chanel and has finally caught on to how the cat door works. Terrell and Chanel cautiously approach the cat door and push the flap open and go through. Jingles takes a running start and blasts through. So far Chanel and Terrell have not been on the other side when she powers through.
She never has warmed up to me. She will shiff at my feet from behind but if I look at her or even think about touching her, she is gone. When she see me petting the other two she looks like she wants to join in but she just can't cross that bridge.

I think my foster came close to taking no prisoners. Her husband told me that he though his wife was going to do just that. He said that right after the girl handed over the kitten, his wife turned to him and said "Hold the kitten" and handed it to him. He said he thought "Oh no, this is not going to end well". Fortunately for the girl she closed the door before the shit hit the fan.
I am pretty sure Rainbow is going to need surgery because that eye looks gone. I plan to put the story on NextDoor and crowdfund the vet bill. I am always making a point about not giving away free kittens because this is what can happen to a free kitten. My area has the attitude that this kind of abuse does not happen in our neighborhood but it does and it did.

I hope that girl still has a conscience and it bothers her immensely for her heartlessness. Or she never, ever has another pet of any kind. I am thankful Rainbow's been rescued and in your care, kritter.

I am thankful Rainbow's been rescued and in your care, kritter. No, it is not going to bother her at all. Her mind is on her vacation in a week or so. The neighbor said that the plan was to put the kitten in a box outside the gate of a nearby shelter when they were closed so they could find her in the morning when they opened. She does have a dog because she said that the kitten was used to being around a dog. Most likely will be looking for another free kitten when she gets back in town.

That is the sweetest looking kitten!!! She is the sweetest kitten ever. I went over yesterday and was cleaning the gunk out of her eye and she just laid there and didn't resist. She was asleep in my lap for a few minutes and then got up and went over and laid beside Chris, the foster, and went back to sleep. Chris said that she sleeps right beside her all night. They had a contractor over there doing some woork on a closet and she was over there sniffing his boots and climbing all over his tools. The guy wanted to know how he could adopt her as his wife had been wanting a cat. Whoever had this kitten did a great job with her until she gave her away to that fool who would have discarded her because she is sick.

Kritter - LMK about the crowdfunding for Rainbow.
I wish there was a way to keep that numbnut from getting another free kitten.

I wish there was a way to stop anybody from getting a free kitten. Seeing free kittens given away on NextDoor makes me sad because I know that the majority of the time, it will not end well for the kitten. Thank you, chapeaunoir, for your offer.

Linda is going to adopt her. She has been talking about adopting a kitten and when I told her that this one was a calico, that did it. She named her after one of her first cats ever that she had 30 years ago. A calico named Rainbow.
This Rainbow has major self esteem so she will fit right in with Linda's crew.

Kritter, I'm so glad that she has you and Linda in her corner.
She may have had to suffer through a bad time, but she's come out in the best possible place! ❤️

Rainbow goes in for her spay and eye enucleation tomorrow morning. She saw her vet yesterday and the vet said there is no eyeball present in the socket. chapeaunoir The vet's office will take donations over the phone at 210 804-2000 for Rainbow Howard's surgery or you can send a Paypal to ClausCCDtnr@gmail.com. The combined surgeries will cost around $800 depending on how much debris she has to clean out of the eye socket. Thank you for your offer.

Picked up Rainbow last evening about 5:30 and she is back to her frisky self even though she was told to be calm. We had to put a cone on her because she kept licking her spay incision. Eye looks great. No discharge so far.
