Good morning, everyone! Another rollercoaster week with temps in 50s up to 70 and down to 40s by weekend. Trees have been shedding leaves like crazy, it's dark after 5pm and winter's around the corner. We'll have to wait til winter solstice to start adding a minute or two of daylight again. Bah. I'm happy I was able to find probably the last turkey anywhere around here just under 10 lbs. Have a little grocery shopping to do and wish I'd filled up gas tank when it was "only" $3.70 gal. as it's back up to $4.00. Oh well. Hope everyone has an outstanding day!

Hi, guys. I hope everyone is doing well. We are OVERLY warm here with a cold front expected Friday and then cooling off.
We had a wonderful Halloween with TONS of trick-or-treaters. We must have had hundreds, I gave away so much candy. And the kids had a great time and said about our Halloween decorations; we had it "going on" lol. Favorite costumes were: a giant blow up baby, Dale Doback (John Riley character) from Step Brothers, and Heisenberg from Breaking Bad complete with yellow chemical suit. Oh and a boy looked like he was dressed as Top Gun and I asked if that was who he was, and he said: No I'm going as my uncle
Then oldest DD came in from Portland for a very nice visit, I didn't get enough time with her really, but I guess I just have to take what I can get lol.
In the meantime, in between Halloween and her visit mom ended up in the hospital again. More chest pains, and shortness of breath. They said it might have been a mild heart attack, although when tested her enzymes were not high. However she has now been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She was released after about a day and a half and is now on medicine (some type of diuretic) for that. She has a cardio appointment on the 22nd and my sister will talk to the dr and mom about her options as far as an angiogram and stents, or not and risk vs benefits. DD was able to go see her with us Monday so that was really good.
We got our flu shots last month and I heard they did a good job this year about getting the strains right, I heard it will be a bad flu season. Yikes!

Well, speaking of cardiology appointments--I wanted to switch doctors to one associated with the hospital where I had my surgery as they can easily see all the records. I scored an appointment with the guy I wanted to see! It for 10:40 on July 11, 2023! For optimists only, apparently.

Ugh Frak. Now I don't feel so bad that I have to wait until January to see my endocrinologist. My PCP tried to get me in to see another one, but that appt would be in Feb.
Our healthcare doctors around here are dwindling.

I went to schedule my flu vax at HEB for this Friday (11/11) and the system kicked me out because I "don't meet the minimum age" for the sr flu. I'm 8 days short I may just try for a walk-in and see if they'll give it to me "early" We have a cold front moving in on Friday. Woo hoo! I picked up the ingredients to make chili on Friday. I normally like beans in my chili but I found a keto/low carb chili recipe (without beans of course) that is really good, so that's what I'll make. I think it's safe to say that Twila like and approves of me now. She's giving me a bath when I pet her

To add insult to injury, it's a heavy, stiff sweater material that doesn't drape very well.
Ugh.

I have no idea, but whoever it is manages to buy the ugliest style and usually the blandest colors of Ruby Rd. Ruby Rd has some nice stuff, Macy's & Dillards carry it and they usually get all color combos of a specific style. But not Belk. That buyer manages to totally miss the cute stuff and gets the boring colorways in items. Well, not always, but pretty often. I'm betting the buyer wears a size 4 and hates fat people Or it's a clueless male buyer. I like loose drapey styles, but geez I could cut holes in a blanket and have it look better on me than that does.

I used to wear Ruby Road that I bought at Dillards and they had cute stuff.
Ruby Rd. should be ashamed of themselves for putting that horrid thing in not one but two colorways out in public.

Twila has finally settled in 100%. Last night I was on the sofa watching TV with Simon curled up on my left side, Trixie snoozing behind me on the bookcases behind the sofa, and Twila sleeping on my right side. That's the first time she's done that. I expect to see her doing that more often now. I get to use my new slow cooker tomorrow. It has a ceramic coated metal insert instead of the usual heavy ceramic insert. Says you can use the insert on the stove top to brown things, then just pop into the slow cooker and cook away. We shall see. I have a really pretty floral Pioneer Woman slow cooker but it only cooks on high now and it's too late to return it. Good thing it was only $25 or so because it's going to Goodwill. Heads up if you have Christmas shopping still to do - I'm seeing some really low prices this week. I remember from the last several years that prices seemed to be lowest this week and next week, with the exception of a few Black Friday only deals. However, I'm not usually looking for the latest electronics and they usually are cheaper on Black Friday. Kitchen appliances and clothing are really low priced this week, at multiple retailers. Which is good because I'm shopping for my Christmas present LOL

74 degrees here today. Going out to do SOMETHING outside. Lake effect snow predicted on Saturday. Guess I'm going to have to break down and turn the furnace on. Held out as long as I could.

Sunny and 70 today, 60 and rain tomorrow, then next 7 days highs in 40s and lows 26-32. I won't be surprised to see flakes flying around and everything frosted over in the too near future.

You read about it, see a million photos of it, but nothing prepared me for seeing it in person, particularly on a quiet November day when the winds were sweeping across Salisbury Plain. It was almost eerie.

Is that where you are now, Chap? Cool! Since I'm not in the mood to work I decided to put my move order in for my utilities. I noticed on my internet bill that the 12 month intro period had expired and my new rate was going up $15. When I called to move service to the new address, I asked if that qualified me for a new rate and she gave me the intro rate again for 12 months. Woo hoo! So power, internet and the washer/dryer are all set up to be moved to the new apartment. I suppose I could delay working a bit more today by setting up my packing & move schedule

So neat! I did a high school report on Stonehenge and was really fascinated once I really did the research.
