"Dawn, are you anywhere near Frederick, MD. I am home all day and would be glad to have lunch or go shopping with you." Allikat I am about an hour from Frederick, but I don't mind traveling. An hour which direction? We could find somewhere sort of in the middle. Pasadena so I am east of you. I was actually thinking of driving over that way to go to some of the Goodwills/Thrift stores. I stopped at a couple of places on the way home from Hagerstown and felt like the Monocacy Goodwills were better then my area ones or it could be that I there too often.

Does your schedule allow you to get out to volunteer, Dawn? I do volunteer at a very small church based thrift store. Every other volunteer is at least 15 years my senior and while I love the people, we don't have tons in common. I used to volunteer (pre-covid)at the same hospice that my mom is now using. I am really not in a space to be around the elderly/sick with my mom on hospice. I do ride my bike a few times a week or walk just to get out. Our bike and hiking grouops are on week-ends.

Dawn R Are there any things you can do that don't involve old people or sickness? You need a break! Maybe join or start a book club? Or do something with animals? Or take a class at a local school or college?

Dawn, do you like to read? Does your local library have a reading to kids hour? Do you like to be outdoors? If you have a nature park or public garden, they often need volunteers. I agree with Frakin, the last thing you need is to volunteer with older people. Partly cloudy and 81 here. I guess I should get up off my butt and toss the GW donation bags down the stairs and get them in my car. I'd really like to get that stuff out of my apartment. The clutter is driving me nuts.

There are lots of ways to volunteer your time but you have to be creative and match them with your interests.
Not only do you give back but you help yourself also.

Let me know if you want to head my direction one day, we can go to 4 Goodwills and a really cute Thrift shop.

Yay! Stuff taken to GW and I have my closet again I had so many bags it filled up one of the rolling bins and was overflowing on the top. And the relief is mighty! Are you getting out of the reselling game or just taking a break? Today was the 2-hour high intensity threshold training and weightlifting extravaganza - I was really struggling towards the end. Then this evening we walked to the pub - it was only 4 miles round trip but up a long danged hill (like 1.5 miles) - I was slogging along after the DH who was practically running (he'd ridden 40 miles that day) because he was hungry and wanted to get at the Gumbo they have there, and all the beer. I was like GAK!! dragging along behind him. He's from Polish coal mining stock - I swear, they're the toughest people on earth. I've got a lot of my strength back from the Covid, but still wear out fast - had two naps today.
ETA: Weeeee!! (Click into it - this may kill those fires for good!)

I love to read. I read 3-4 novels a week! I love the idea of reading at the library! I am going to ask about that. THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA! I considered applying for a part time job at the library, but it was a lot of Saturday morings and I always watch my mom so my sister can volunteer at a food bank.
