Good morning, everyone! Seems October is flying through as fast as leaves are changing and already dropping from the trees around here. Looks like our rollercoaster weather is heading up another hill- temps in 40s, then 50s and upper 60s by end of the week. Might even have some frozen precipitation tonight into the morning but no accumulation. Hope everybody has a great day!

Where did the sun go? ? Indoor lights should not be on at 10:00 in the morning.

The sun's up here trying to make us feel it's warmer than currently 44 degrees.

I'm good with it being rainy today, we need it. Have 2 tax returns to do today and that's it.

One word about today's rain, Kritter: Drought. This drizzle is not going to be enough to even make a small dent in the drought. We will need a major week long rain event to make any difference.

If it's any consolation, the sun went away fro a bit when it rained and now the rain stopped and the sun's back out. Y'all get plenty of sun and hot weather down there. Give us a break up here, will ya?

Well poo. I have yet another package lost in the FedEx maze. It made it to Houston this time and is now stuck. The others weren't a big deal, I was refunded and reordered from somewhere local for pickup. This latest one annoys me. I ordered several Christmas items (including a gift) from Belk, and if the package is truly lost I can't reorder because Belk is now sold out of the items. If it hasn't moved by Saturday, I guess I'll have to contact Belk for a refund and find another gift.

I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble getting your packages. I've found naming a package (ex. Where is It?) and signing up for updates seems to have helped move a few along.
It's currently 38 degrees. Thank goodness the heat is working.

I hope kritter got her sun back because it sure isn't here. Rainy day since last night into tomorrow evening and plain cold. Currently 39 degrees and it's almost noon. Wasn't planning on putting on a winter jacket and hat this early, but I do want to take advantage of a break in the rain to get a few groceries on sale. Gas is also back up to $4 gal. so it's becoming more challenging trying to save money. I'm just glad temps are supposed to rise to around 70 by the weekend for a least a few days so something to look forward to.

Yes, the sun is back and all is well except it is a very chilly 62 with a high of only 69 today. Thankfully back in the 80s by Thursday and will stay there for the next week at least.
Almost turned on the heat this morning as it was 69 in the house when I got up. Drug out my heavy robe instead and then got dressed to run errands so I think the house will warm up by the time I get back home.
Vet appointment for Dickins today as an outbreak of kitten diarrhea is at hand. It never ends.

I'm enjoying the cooler temps while they last. I'm the opposite of Kritter, I like seasonal cool weather I found out why FedEx/AMZ/UPS delivery people don't knock on the door. Apparently people were complaining because the knock woke them up from a nap, or set their dogs to barking. Seriously? You know you have a delivery coming and you complain when it wakes you up? Seriously? You have dogs and you complain when the dogs do what they're supposed to do - bark to alert you of something? ** SMH ** Drivers get written up when complaints are filed. I find it hard to believe that the number of complaints for a door knock are higher than complaints about stolen packages. Or maybe those who get their packages stolen complain to the retailer and not to the shipping service? Twila and Simon are playing with noisy toys this morning so I have to keep checking on them and making sure the noise is actually a toy and not them destroying something they shouldn't I bought them a second tunnel. Now they have one that goes 3 ways (kind of like a Y) and one that is totally straight. What's interesting is they play totally differently with each tunnel.

LOL, I was thinking you belong in a different state farther north, Val. 69 degrees would have us in short sleeves indoors or outdoors, sun or no sun and definitely the heat would be turned off.
I hadn't really thought about the knocking part with deliveries. We're on the top floor and rarely does anyone make the effort to climb stairs to leave packages outside our apartment door. Sadly, too many people have nothing better to do than find something, no matter how trivial, to complain about.
Got lucky and went to grocery store, got the 4 items on my list and back home before it started raining again. Also got lucky and was able to schedule bivalent booster shot for this Friday. Just hope I don't get the fatigue the other shots gave me and miss out on the warm weather weekend.

I agree. I like cold and hot weather, but I want it in their respective seasons. No way could I live somewhere like Hawaii where it's almost the same weather every day. Ugh. I loved the weather in NM. All 4 seasons, and none of them extreme (other than the random day or two that everywhere gets). I miss the NM weather. My mom called me one day when I was in ABQ and asked how the weather was. I had a light sweatshirt on and the front door open so Hootie could hang out on the patio, and the temp was 60 or so. My mom couldn't believe that I had the front door open and did not have the heater blasting. But with next to no humidity, the cold just doesn't feel all that cold TBH. I actually run the A/C 365 days a year in my current apartment. Not during the day in the winter, but I do run it at night if I can't get the bedroom to cool down with the windows open. This place is really well insultated. I have my flu and COVID booster scheduled for this Friday. I hope the side effects will be shortlived like with prior COVID shots.

It's smokey here with ash falling and an acrid smell in the air. Every time I go outside, when I come back indoors I cough almost uncontrollably - I'm glad it wasn't as bad as it was two years ago when the smoke and ash darkened the sky and gave the sun a lurid orange glow, but I didn't have this stupid Covid then. You can see the smoke ghosting along the roads and in the trees, and when I went down the hill to do my shipping it was thicker by the lake because of the fires east of here. Bleh. So, I'm stuck inside yet again. The roads and walkways are quiet. I'm grateful for the gym - at least I can get in a workout in clean air.

I do not want anyone knocking on my door. Period. I sleep during the day. We know when the delivery guys come and it is usually when I am napping before work. We keep an eye on our cameras for Amazon and postal deliveries too.

We're socked in here with smoke too- terrible air quality today! It's definitely not as bad as 2 years ago but rather murky. Rain this weekend will be welcome.

We are mid 60s today which is lovely weather. I do prefer the summer.
I am not a fan of winter and the short daylight hours. It also makes me feel lonely.
I am home by myself from 7:30 am to about 6:30 pm. Three days a week I take care of my mom for about 8 hours, but she really can't communicate.
The lack of people and conversation is hard. I can talk to my mom, but it often makes her confused and aggitates her so I have to keep it very simple.
Only 152 days until spring! LOL!

Up at the crack of dawn in the dark (7:00) to take the kits to the spay/neuter clinic.
Thermostat said 66 degrees. On went the heat for the first time of the season. I will not be cold as long as my HVAC works. Not now Not ever!
Twila has gotten so big and beautiful.

Twila is still pretty skinny. When she finally fills out, though, she's going to be gorgeous. She half sat in my lap last night on the sofa - progress!!!

When I lived in ABQ, I decided to finally treat myself to a real office desk, and not the cheap "whatever I could find at GW" desk options I'd been using for years. I was in Staples looking at the assembled furniture and the salesguy asked if I needed any help. I told him no, I was just trying to figure out which desk configuration would work best in my home office. He asked the size of my office and I told him that wasn't the issue. I said I was mentally figuring out in my head where the cat would lay in each desk scenaro. He looked at me blankly, but another couple also shopping for desks burst out laughing. I looked at them and asked it they had cats and they said yes. We then explained to the salesguy that when one has a home office and cats, one HAS to figure out how much surface area one needs and how much surface area one will lose to the cat for napping space.
