I bought something last week and Amazon gave me the free Prime deal. I decided to accept this time (I know how to unsubscribe a few days before my 30 days free ends). I did it so I could see what their Prime Day stuff was like. I wanted to buy a weighted blanket. I researched & decided what I wanted a few days ago. I got on Amazon this morning & went to the item. The price had changed by 24%--only problem was that it was now 24% more expensive. So, I'll wait.
Has anyone else ever experienced such?

I get notices that saved items (save for later or in my cart) have changed prices all the time. Sometimes they go up, sometimes they go down. It's normal. I think the Prime is more for free shipping, free returns and shipping time than for any actual cost savings on the items themselves (although I could be wrong about that).

Like Val, I get pricing ups and downs too especially on Chewy stuff.
I think these Prime Day shopping things are just promotional marketing gimmicks to make people think that they are getting extra deals on those Prime Shopping days when it really is only a promo thing to bump Prime membership. Apparently it worked because you joined even though you are going to dump it before the 30 days. Amazon is banking on people not dumping our before the free thing ends.

Yes, I know the prices fluctuate constantly. I suspected "Prime Day Specials" weren't so special. I just did it to check my hypothesis. I can wait for the blanket. And my calendar is marked for ending my free "prime" time. I thought I should share my information.

Another example is that I had a subscription to Maxwell House Master Blend. All of the sudden it was not available. I found it in local stores. Once I stopped my subscription it was suddenly available at a higher price. Hubby drinks coffee.

I mainly use my Prime membership for the TV/video service. However, lately most of the new stuff has had an extra fee (you rent it like the old time blockbuster movies), so I don't watch Prime TV any more. I might as well drop the membership. I discovered it does not affect my audible membership so heck, why pay for Prime?

I didn’t get what the Prime Day Preview promo was all about. Prime Day is usually in July and then near Thanksgiving - they said it was early access, so gimmicky. I did buy a lot of things during though, lol!. My memorable deals were a Queen cooling blanket for $16 and several toys for $2 - $4 (like Ridley Jones dolls and My Little Pony play sets, reg over $20). The best discount was a wifi camera that says it’s usually $179 and I got it for $29. I haven’t set it up yet and it looks janky, so I might be returning it. As far as Prime TV, I don’t see anything I want to watch but it does include FreeVee TV so I started watching BeWitched from the beginning. There are a lot of groups for Amazon glitches and deals to alert to great drops, but for me, they can cause a lot of impulse buys of things I don’t really need.
For me, I’ll probably always have Prime because it pays for itself, and sending to others is so easy, but I’m pretty sure they still offer free shipping without it at a certain threshold.

I'm kicking myself for not buying a KitchenAid mini stand mixer. They were $259. on sale and are back up to $329. now. I don't know what I was thinking that I didn't buy one. I have a pro 550 but it is bigger than what I need for most things and the mini is sooo cute! My 'covid' project has been learning to make macarons. The steepest learning curve of anything I have ever baked. Meringue is a key ingredient. I'm keeping an eye out for a refurbished one on the KA website. If they get any in stock they are priced at $139 on sale which is a great deal.

Love my weighted blanket! Very hard to sleep without it now. Even took it on my flight to Branson last month since I was staying 4 nights . Only problem was I couldn't sleep the night before because I had already packed it! I also knew I wasn't going to be able to use it after my surgery last week since I can't lift more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks so I purchased one that is 7 pounds to try. It has done the job, thankfully.

One thing I like about my Prime membership besides Prime Video is Prime Reading. I’ve been able to find several free Kindle books to check out from bestselling authors, many of which aren’t available at my library. I’d resisted switching from print books, but am starting to like Kindle books, especially when traveling.

I’ve been able to find several free Kindle books to check out from bestselling authors, many of which aren’t available at my library. I’d resisted switching from print books, but am starting to like Kindle books, especially when traveling. I LOVE my Kindle. I was an early adopter of e-readers after I went on a long backpacking trip and kept picking up books, reading them and then stuffing them into my pack. My DH lifted my pack one day to move it and was startled at how heavy it was - it was about 45 lb, and then he found about 10 lb of books in it, including hardbounds lol. I'd just been collecting them as the miles went by and just kept hauling all that stuff over hill and dale. I got the Sony because it was leader in the field way back when (about 16 years ago) but the Kindle caught up and he gave me a paperwhite for my birthday one year, along with a membership to Amazon Unlimited. I won't be without my Kindle now. I actually have never cared whether to book is print or electronic, I just want the words.
