Good morning, everyone! Nice, crisp 52 degrees and sunny. Leaves are changing which, unfortunately, are too fast from green to red/yellow/orange to brown and fall off so probably won't be long before the trees are nekkid again and dead leaves all over. Hope everyone has a good day!

We'll be in the high 80's. Better than the 90's, I guess.

I've had so many problems the past several months getting AMZ deliveries that I decided to use the AMZ dropbox down the street. I thought, how can they mess up a delivery to their own box? *sigh* Package was at the San Antonio center this morning for delivery. Now it's in Von Ormy TX, about 30 miles south of me. I don't think AMZ is going to make the promised delivery date (again). It's at the point now that I think I should just be happy if the order even gets delivered, period. Shipping (all sources) is projected to get worse than usual as we get closer to Christmas. Even ship to store isn't guaranteed either, since that often uses ground shippers. I may order my gifts early and be done with it. If FedEx, UPS, USPS and even AMZ are having this many issues now, imagine what it will be like next month? Guess I better stop goofing off and get to work. I have a bunch of biz tax returns to do this week.

You must have a junk guy on your route. I never have an issue with Amazon deliveries here and, trust me, between Lee's house and my house, Amazon is here just about every day.
Made my first $100 Chewy order. Wonder if we can do more than one.

Might be, but I think it's also AMZ. Last order was shipped USPS, not delivered by AMZ, and dropped off at the apartment office rather than at my door. At least it wasn't a heavy item. The two orders before that one were also shipped, not delivered by AMZ, but all 3 items stated "shipped by Amazon" on the listing. Amazon had a big loss for the 1st quarter this year and has been scaling back expansion plans and laying off. It's national caramel custard day? I love flan! Hmnn, I may have to get carryout for tonight..... I just discovered you can get ergonomic computer mice and keyboards in COLORS! How did I not know this?

Tomorrow night is National Night Out here. The city does a big shindig down at city hall with hot dogs, drinks, etc. plus bouncy houses and stuff for the kids. Draws a big crowd. Usually I take a kitten from our city program but no city kittens this year so I am taking one of the kittens, Riley, from our Claus Community Cats and Dogs program. Riley was found by a citizen of our city but location was two blocks out of our city limits. The city program wouldn't take him into foster/adoption so the finder called me. I already have 5 feral kits I am dealing with but whatever. Riley was feral and a little over 5 weeks old. He is doing much better in just a weeks time and hopefully he won't be too freaked out. I figure it will be good exposure for our program because there are always a lot of people there.

Fingers crossed for Riley! Did you ever figure out what was wrong with his left eye? Twila and Simon snuggled up: They got on the kitchen counter early this morning and knocked off my glass cutting board. It shattered. Fortunately the noise scared them enough that they didn't go back in the kitchen until I'd cleaned it up, so no kitty paw cuts. Little stinkers.

It's always chaotic when they start double teaming. Our two cats used to work together. Once I heard this clunking and meowing coming from one of the bathrooms and looked in. Little Cassie was sitting on the toilet seat and tall Jamie was on the floor, stretched up and trying to work the flushing handle with one of her paws. Cassie was meowing at Jamie and Jamie kept trying to pull it down - fortunately she never succeeded or I would have had to start closing the bathroom doors, as they'd be at it all day.

I'm pretty sure the main instigator here is Twila. Simon is so besotted with her that he'll do anything she asks.
But they're both so stinking cute I can't stay mad at them for long. The apartment is fairly well cat proofed so there isn't that much they can damage anyway.

I think when the listing says shipped by Amazon, they mean it ships from their warehouse and not a 3rd party. They don't necessarily mean delivered by Amazon. Quite confusing if you ask me.

Correct, and I agree. In the past however, it was always delivered by an Amazon truck. It's just been this year that the "Amazon shipped" orders starting being sent by USPS, UPS, and some local shipping services. What is annoying is you order it expecting it to come in on X-day per Amazon, then get told on delivery day that "oh we're behind, we'll get it to you whenever". AMZ also no longer honors the 2 day Prime shipping guarantee. Eh, it is what it is. I should probably shop less on AMZ anyway I did find a chair mat for a lot less at Kohls of all places.

Dawn hoping all goes well.
It has been raining her since Friday night. No flooding just irritating steady rain.
Job interview tomorrow morning. I was hoping the rain would be gone by then. No such luck. Now I have to figure out what to put on my feet😡🤬
Of course I am up against a guy who just retired from a police admin job. Hoping my security background (College and high school) shine through. They guy may have an in because he went to a prestigious FBI training - the same as the security director attended😡🤬. Anyway I hope I can make it through ok. I would think an admin is over-qualified for the job.

It just seemed to get better by itself. Maybe he had a a speck of something in his eye that went away.
It is definitely Twila. Sha has always been a force to be reckoned with even from small kitten times.

Chewy rocks. FedEx just delivered the stuff that I ordered yesterday. Riley is looking a lot better now. Because he was so small I thought he was younger that he really is. He weighed 1 lb. 13 oz. this morning so he is close to 8 weeks old. If he gains 3 more ounces by next Wednesday, he can be neutered and go up for adoption.

Riley is sooooooooooo cute!!!!! How did your interview go, labby? Too funny. My AMZ delivery went from SA to Van Ormy, back to SA, back to Van Ormy, and is now out for delivery ...from Van Ormy.

Looks like the fishing boat that ran aground from Ian at Myrtle Beach will finally be towed out today. It broke down a couple miles from shore, Coast Guard rescued the crew and Ian did the rest. It was actually dug out yesterday, but tide didn't come in as expected so hoping today's the day. The webcam, that was live not long ago, looks like it's frozen now. Hope it's back to live action around 3:30pm when another attempt will be made. Looks like the hottest attraction at the beach today. It's only about 6 blocks down from where we stayed: www.wbtw.com/myrtle-beach-weather-camera/

And drawing more people to watch with probably a couple hours to go. I told DH if we were down there, we'd probably have bundled up and taken our beach chairs down there to watch, too.
Kritter, Riley is simply scrumptious. Who can resist that wide eyed sweet and innocent look?
Labby, good luck at the interview and hope you get the job.

Thanks everyone. Interview was a piece of cake. He said there may be a second interview. My friend who just got hired had a second interview so I will touch base with him later about the second interview. Of course that means another outfit so I am trying to find something like what I wore today in other colors or I may just buy a different jacket and shirt. He said the process may take another 4 weeks. I am glad that is over but wish I would have known about the second interview so I could have picked up the backup outfit the other day.
I hit all the questions right on and they know they are getting a great and well qualified person if they hire me. Not to brag or anything🤣. So it is a matter of the other candidates and their experience.

If that house had left the lower level open as originally designed, and had not enclosed it to use it as a garage, the house probably would have made it through the storm. The bulk of the water would have flowed under and around the house. The water looks high enough that the house interior would have had some flooding, but the house would have probably stayed in place. The old FL coastal code required all homes within X miles of water to be elevated on stilts with an unrestricted open area below. Most folks just used it as a carport. Developers complained about the cost to new construction and the state and counties relaxed the code, which is what most likely allowed the homeowner to enclose the bottom to use as a gargage (probably never thought he'd get flooded). **SMH** at how much damage could have been avoided had Florida govnernments stuck to the old building code.
