Apparently some people are more sensitive to sodium than others, who can consume it without any effect on their blood pressure.
When I buy tamari (gluten free soy sauce) I buy the lower sodium version. I don't know if it's low enough for those who are avoiding sodium.
Soy sauce and tamari are made from fermented soy, so they might not have the same effect on breast cancer. You could ask your doctor.

If you take herbal supplements of any kind, you might look them up. Some can cause an elevation in blood pressure.

It's a good thing I'm not much of a foodie, as I can see this pretty much banishing any interest in food I have left. Maybe a pub meal every week or two to remind me that stuff still tastes good. Not always. I'm a better cook now at low sodium than I was before my heart condition. You just learn new (and often better tasting!) ways to cook. Cooking fresh and from scratch helps immensely. When you track your sodium, track by day and set yourself a limit for the day. Don't set it by the meal, that makes it more difficult and people often end up thinking they can't have anything good. They look at the meal (OMG my smoked sausage dinner is 600 mg!) and don't eat it, totally ignoring that their breakfast might have only been 150 mg, lunch was 300 mg, and now their daily total with that OMG! High Dinner! is a reasonable 1,050 mg. I see this all the time in a low sodium group I belong to. Some DO have to track by meal, but those are usually folks with kidney issues. Trixie was up on the top of the cat tree earlier today, playing Queen of the Mountain with her subjects. It was quite amusing and all the kitties seemed to be having fun. No hissing.

Made it out to eastern Ohio yesterday. Hotel is ok. Had a visit and dinner with my best friend. Going to an early lunch with my cousin in Twinsburg and then headed to the western part of northern Ohio.

I think it is a nursing home thing. Some guy proposed to my mom at day care and wanted my mom to get a wedding dress. Just "hope" they find one or the other not competent to make their own decisions. It took a bit but the man finally stopped. Just make sure the staff know not to allow her to get married on the sly. It can also affect any aid she gets there with paying her way. Just not a good idea at all. Yes we talked about it and agreed we would tell mom that if she wants to have a relationship that's up to her but since she's on long term medicaid she can't have any changes to her finances, so no marriage. It would be too risky for her financial assistance. And to be honest even before the stroke mom was flaky about things and she could have changed her mind about this man before the next time we go and see her.
I had no idea this was such a nursing home thing! And the sexually transmitted disease thing is a concern Well you learn something new every day lol. I told my son yesterday let me let you know while I am in my right mind I have NO interest in any relationships if DH passes before me and if I suddenly get weird about a man, my mind is not right.
We had some actual rain yesterday!! Real drops from the sky! We still need a lot more but it was nice to get what we did, we are supposed to be back in the triple digits today through about Monday.
I have never heard of White Coat Syndrome but I do believe I am a victim as well. I go to the Dr every year in April for my annual physical and my BP in fine. A few days later I go to the gyno for my well woman and it's always high! I told them, it was fine a few days ago! I hate getting naked anywhere else but home and I guess that just stresses me out. But I monitor it at home after and it's always fine. DH is on BP meds.

Cracker Barrel was horrible today. Pancakes were over cooked (both mine and my cousin’s granddaughter’s). But I had a great time taking to my cousin. Of course it isn’t long enough but this is using brand new vacation bank days.
Made it to Defiance. Now I have time to relax.

I'm going to rearrange the living room this weekend, to see if I can fit in another (smaller) cat tree by the other window. It will give the youngsters more room to play. . They've been taking turns on the top shelf of the current cat tree. It appears Trixie gets first shift, then Twila, then Simon. I tell 'ya, Simon is just too polite for his own good. He lets the girls walk all over him.

That is how he was raised. Five of the 6 cats in the Missy family are girls so he learned to respect and defer to the girls. Poor Murphy is the same way.

I'm aiming for the 'whole day' type of sodium counting because it's easier and flexible - I can make room at one meal for more at another meal. I eat 4 smaller meals a day because I fill up fast unless I'm awfully hungry, but I'm hungry again after 3 hours. It's ridiculous - I wish I could just eat one meal a day and get the rest of my food from a capsule or something.
Even when I was bike racing and lost weight at 3000+ calories a day, it had to be four meals. They were just four LARGE meals lol.

Maybe it's just ours here but it was so bad when I went years ago. Dd and he friends went last week and she said she'd never go back so I guess it hadn't gotten any better. Our standards are not too high either lol Have a safe and fun trip!

I guess some how I've been living in a child free cave. Had no idea the Boppy loungers were recalled. I bought 4 or 5 of them new to list. Nope can't do that. I don't understand why the loungers were recalled but not the pillows, they are both used for propping infants up, though the pillow you can use for breastfeeding too. Anyways guess I have to go through Boppy to get refunded and destroy the pillows. Going to cry, they are so cute, going to save all the filling out of them to stuff crochet animals so it won't be a total loss. 😢 Might see if I can figure out something small to make with the fabric from each side so that's not wasted.

I don’t usually have salt issues but just eating at a couple of restaurants, my feet have swelled a bit and I am feeling run down. I know it is salt. One year I was here at the reunion and my feet were like balloons and I had to run to Walmart for OTC diuretic.

Sitting for long periods without moving (flying, driving long distances) can cause leg and feet swelling too. I gave up Cracker Barrel and Applebees when I started eating low sodium. Nothing on either restaurant's menu is low or even reduced sodium. It wasn't a big loss OTOH, I've had good luck finding reduced and low sodium items at The Cheesecake Factory. chapeaunoir, if you like veggies, use herb-infused olive oil and roast the veggies in the oven or air fryer. I use Mantova brand for the mixed herb oils (the Tuscan Herb and Grillata versions are really good). You can buy Mantova direct, at Amazon, VitaCost, etc. I get the single herb variations (garlic, basil, etc) at different local stores. I rarely have to add salt when I use the flavored olive oils. And Saratoga Olive Oil company has the BEST fruit-infused balsamic vinegars. Guess I'm wandering out into the heat today. I have to go by my mailbox and pick up some packages and drop off a return, take some other returns to Fed Ex, get my curbside pick up at Walmart, fil up the gas tank and get a car wash. The gas station I use has a significant discount on gas if you buy a car wash at the same time. Since I use the car wash weekly, I now try to time the car wash to coincide with the gas purchase. Good thing gas prices have started going down.

Gas prices are dropping here, too - I spent $4.12/gallon at one place. Right now it depends on where you are - that was in Eastern Washington - here they're still trying to stiff us for $5.00/gal plus but even that's better than it was.
This was always going to be temporary and had its genesis really when OPEC was trying to yank our chain back in 2020.
ETA: I might get one of those small air fryers - I keep hearing good things about them and I'm tired of slinging stuff into the microwave. The DH is quite the cook and makes elaborate several course dinners for himself in the evening, spreading out all over the kitchen and listening to Mariner's baseball games as he cooks. Since he rides about 160 miles a week he burns it up. I can't get interested enough in food to cook - I 'fix' things instead lol. An air fryer might be a good addition and wake up my appetite a bit.

$4.57 around here which is helping control some costs on this trip. I am paying cash for it so that is important. My Highlander has been getting 29-30 mpg which is great too.
Had a great time this far today. Freshening up before I go to a local winery to watch my cousin play tonight. He and a friend do some music gigs.
I wish I could take a nap though🤣
Trying to get them to decide if we are doing breakfast or not. I don’t care if we don’t but it helps to know that. I have to leave sometime around 9 or later to make sure the room is ready at my stop on the way home. Stop is in the middle of nowhere right next to the highway. Picked a room on the other side of the hotel so I won’t be facing the turnpike.

I love, love, LOVE my air fryer. My birthday present to myself the year before last was a Ninja Foodie with 2 baskets and all the trimmings - match cook setting, setting that lets you cook 2 different things at different settings and finish at the same time (I haven't tried that one yet), has settings for roast, air fry, broil, bake, reheat etc. Well worth the money. It's at the point now that I don't like canned or even frozen veggies. I want fresh or no deal. Most of the stuff cooks in less than 20 minutes too. I use the air fryer, the new George Foreman grill (my old one died) and my little round Dash grill for just about everything. Cooking is easy, fast and tastes good

I love my little air fryer too. I often roast fresh veggies in my oven. Then I reheat the leftovers in my air fryer. Mine was only $27 since I bought it when it was featured on The View. The same one is $60 at Walmart. I don't have the counter space or money for a nicer one.
Val-yours sounds great!

Another air fryer love here. I have one of the xl ones that have tracks instead of baskets. Got it at Sam's a couple years ago. We use it all the time. Everything comes out so crunchy and you don't have to heat up the oven.

Has anyone tried the Bird's Eye sheet pan meals? Since I haven't been in a grocery store for 3 years, I am clueless about the new stuff. I saw it on Facebook, and checked Walmart. $8 for a family-sized meal of chicken, beans and potatoes with garlic parmesan. Would make a lot of meals for me.

I tried one that I got free with a purchase of their other "family" sized frozen dinners. It was OK but I am not a picky eater so there is that. As far as being "family" size, that is very optimistic on their part. It might be family size if you have another bunch of stuff with it or your family is 2 people.
We are running in the $3.80-$4.00 range.

Count me in as another Air Fryer lover, I have an XL that I purchased at Sam's Club a few years ago. Learning I could make a steak in it that looked like it came off the grill perfectly rare was a game changer, lol. I will probably need a new one around Black Friday, mine is starting to peel in the bottom, not the basket it is fine but the bottom part. I would get the same size again even for just one person meals. It is so easy to clean and doesn't heat the house up like the oven.
I am having either lunch or dinner with DH's best friend from elementary through high school today and his mom and dad. Everyone around me thinks that he and I need to get together and talk, his wife died from cancer 3 years ago, it seems we would have a lot in common. He joined the service after high school and fought in Desert Storm. DH and I met after high school so I didn't know this friend very well other than a visit a year for many years because he and his wife were in TX. Once they moved back, we all got busy raising kids and family stuff and didn't socialize very often. I talked to him on the phone the other day for about 45 minutes and I think it is going to be a good meal and good conversation. He has 2 daughters, college age still living at home, that he admitted he is overwhelmed with them right now and just needs someone to talk to. He lives about 2 miles from me so I think we could probably be good support for each other. I told him if we have awkwardness with getting conversation started, we can always talk about the really stupid stuff that he and DH did, lol.
The first thing he said to me on the phone was "How are you really doing?" I hesitated and he said "it sucks doesn't it, it really sucks" and I thought here is someone who is going through the same thing I am, same age and he gets it.
Gas is $4.50 unless you get at Sam's Club it is $4.39 there.

Allikat, I hope he ends up being a good friend at least. You can never have too many of those!
I highly recommend the dual basket style air fryer. You might think it's too big, but you'll change your mind the first time you use the Smart Finish setting to fix meat in one basket, veggies in the other, and they end up done at the same time. Or you use the Match Cook feature to cook 2 different kinds of veggies at once. You can also use just one basket at a time. I got my Ninja Foodie fryer last summer at HSN on sale, using their Flex Pay plan. I have the 8 qt 6-in-1 dual zone with racks and kebobs. HSN has the 10 qt on sale through tonight. You might find both sizes cheaper elsewhere. I bought from HSN so a) I could do monthly payments, and b) I could buy it in turquoise (I was tired of black and silver appliances). Now, though, if a retailer doesn't offer a payment plan, you can get one thru Affirm, Klarna or Afterpay.

Fletcher is a whirlwind kitten. He is the only cat that moves from room to room anywhere in the house. Well, except for one of the bathrooms where Asia, the Siamese cat hater, is now staying. He wants to go there but Asia is not going for that plan. She hisses at him when he puts his paws under the door as a sign of his friendship.

Those are some pretty big ears that Fletcher has. I forgot to mention. The Thursday before Memorial Day weekend I went out to dinner with BFF, about 25 minutes south of me. After dinner I decided to stop in 1 GW before going home. I went in and about 10 minutes later was leaving with nothing but when I left two employees were each holding a door open looking outside. I thought it was weird, so I walk outside... halfway to my car when a Husky calmly comes walking out of the bushes and sit's down RIGHT in front of my feet. So I got him in the car and headed to a 24 hour vet that was on my route home to see if he was Microchipped. They didn't find one but I honestly didn't think they did that great of a job checking. So I headed home with him thinking WTH am I going to do with this dog?! Cliff ran to WM to get food for him. I called BFF because she doesn't live far from where I found him and belongs to some local FB groups. I posted on staydar when I got home and a few other places that I could find and she posted in her groups. He was extremely well behaved but pretty stressed out the first night. I stayed home on Friday with him, he slept inside pretty much the whole day Friday then right after Cliff got home BFF called. Some girl contacted her about him asking about his eyes (two different colors... I didn't show a picture of his face for safety purposes) and she provided pictures of him. There was no doubt it was the same dog. His name was Charlie. So we set up meeting arrangements and with in 30 minutes he was back with her. It kind of sucked though, she told BFF that his owners were in Rocky Point and mentioned that he got out of an opened gate. So it sounded like she was definitely dog sitting. He hesitated a bit when I handed her the leash He really was a great dog, snuggly, sweet and well trained. I'm not sure who was luckier, the dog or dog sitter. I can't image telling a dog owner that their dog was lost or worse. Long story short, even before Charlie came along, I've been really wanting a dog but even more so now. I think Cliff is starting to come around but needs a little more time. It'll just be easier if we're on the same page with it so I'm trying to be patient but it's hard. I.need.a.dog.now. Oh and I love my air fryer too, it's used multiple times a day but the basket is getting really gross. I'll probably use it until it dies though. Allicat, I hope that things work out the way that you want. It's nice to have a special friend in a similar circumstance to turn to for support and the other way around. Gas prices is some areas around here have dropped considerabley (in the $4 range) but in other areas (like ours) it's only dropped maybe 20cents so it's worth it travel a short distance for a good deal. I'm going to add a pic of Charlie in a minute. I think there's a good chance we would have ended up keeping him if his owners weren't found. In the short time he was here, he quickly fit into the mix pretty well. Cliff and his ex had two huskies so he's quite fond of the breed and their quirks.

Wow Charlie is gorgeous. I'm sure he's happy to be back home. My daughter got a husky/ great Pyrenees mix last month. Part of the litter had husky markings, part were white. She got a white one with light tan markings. She's tiny compared to the others but she's growing fast. No idea how big she will be.

I've never been a huge Husky fan but there really aren't many dogs I'd say no to. I'd be happy with any dog but would prefer one that didn't shed. I'd also be happy with any size but Cliff prefers medium or bigger dogs. I don't care, just hope we get one sooner rather than later.
It was so cute, Cliff gets up pretty early. We kept him outside the first (and only night) he was here because he was so dang stressed out... but he didn't bark once. Cliff let him in when he got up. Went out to the living room when I got up and discovered Cliff enjoying petting him, maybe even more than Charlie enjoyed being petted. He got so exicted when he saw me... I think he knew that I helped him out in a big way.
