Now that that's out of the way So, I haven't been around much. it's been a pretty stressful few months. First our main car broke down, which left us with one car to get 3 people and my mom to work and appointments. Then my volvo broke down, so we had to borrow Tanner's car, which is fine. He got a job where I work and has a work truck, so he doesn't need to use this car. Then, then alternator went out on his car two days ago. I've had to miss 2 days of work (thankfully, I have vacation time) to get parts and line up someone to fix it. Isabella and her boyfriend Derrick had to move back in. Her moving in with her former teacher turned out to be a nightmare. It's sad because her teacher and her were close. She would come over and take Bella out for coffee. She experienced some of the same stuff Isabella has (anxiety, eating disorder, etc). I figured it would be a good way to transition into adult life, but it turned into anything but Anyway, they are back here and we are going to be moving here in the next couple of months. My mom's health has gotten worse. She spent another couple nights in the hospital and 3 weeks in a recovery facility. We've been trying to find an assisted living facility but her doctor classified her as a level 3, which is middle of the road in regard to care. A lot of facilities don't want a level 3, as they don't get enough $$. However, after the latest scare, she was re-evaluated to a level 5, which pretty much means she needs help with everything. But, we were able to get her into a nice place on the coast and we know the lady who runs it (it's my cousin's mother in law), so we know she will get good care. We are moving her next weekend and she is super excited. She gets to be around other people with activities with a lot more independence but also looked after at the same time. After she is out, we will be concentrating on saving money to move and then both Isabella and I are going to ramp up our eBay businesses. So, things are looking brighter in the upcoming months. Hopefully everything will go off smoothly.

Sorry Jeremy, about the car problems. But yay that your mom will finally be able to live someplace that she will like.
Good luck with moving, too.

Amazon screwed up another order. I just canceled it and ordered from another site. This is getting ridiculous. I may cancel my Prime Membership. I usually have more than the limit for free shipping w/o a Prime account anyway. I only have the Prime account for Prime Video. However, an even larger % of movies on the site are for fee, not free, and the majority of TV shows are now "free with commercials". Amazon also isn't honoring the 2 day Prime delivery schedule any more. I'm starting to think the membership isn't worth it. We've been having a problem with "prime" delivery too. Some items are taking longer than 2-3 days to get here. Many times they indicate on checkout that it will be here the next day, then they sent a notice the next day that an item will be delayed. I agree, it's annoying. Same thing with the video section, so many movies and tv shows we need to pay for. I watched the entire original TV show Peyton Place (4 seasons) on the free You-tube channel. I remember it from 7th-8th grade when my sister and I used to sneak out to the LR and watch it after my mother fell asleep. After I finished watching the TV shows, I watched the original Peyton Place movie and wanted to watch the "Return to Peyton Place" but it cost $$$ on Amazon. Really old movies from way back should be free on Prime, I just don't get it. Anyway, if anyone is in a thrift store and sees a Baracuta G-9 original men's jacket, especially the khaki color, pick it up. They all have a plaid interior and the Baracuta inside label, made in England. It's the original golf jacket named after the holes on the golf course, after that it became known as the "Harrington Jacket" and was so named because Rodney Harrington (Ryan O'Neal) from the Peyton Place TV series wore that khaki jacket ALL THE TIME on the TV show. The original Baracuta G-9 is made in England and has the scallop on the back yoke and red plaid interior. Those are the ones that go for $$$, not the copy-cat licensed-out ones that Van Heusen made here in the US then later in China. There are hundreds of cheaper copycat jackets out there and they all call them Harrington jackets, so be sure to look for the Baracuta inside label. Originals go for high 300 to over 400.00 dollars if new. Ebay has a lot of the copy-cat Van Heusen ones up but there are several of the originals. www.ebay.com/itm/394024315655?hash=item5bbdadeb07:g:XUIAAOSwI-RiUetu www.ebay.com/itm/325159274630?hash=item4bb500c886:g:di8AAOSwaCtiYvzJPS - after watching Peyton Place 4 yrs in about 2 weeks, all I can is that Ryan O'Neal was a really handsome guy back then. Boyish good looks.

Yep, if somebody can't scrape together the minimum of $25 for the free shipping then they aren't really trying.
I haven't run into any problems with Amazon like you have. My neighbor has Prime and her stuff comes in on Prime schedule so far. I had to do an emergency order for another pill popper for Terrell and she got it through Prime in one day, thank goodness.
I was having issues with Walmart delivery from the store a few months ago. Apparently I wasn't the only one as it looks like they changed up the delivery process. I ordered 2 things on Wednesday evening and selected Delivery From the Store. Thursday morning I got an email with the delivery person's name, what time it would be delivered, and a map showing the driver's car traveling from the store to my house. They also have to take a pic of the items at your front door or wherever they leave them to get credit for the delivery. Definitely an upgrade in their delivery process.
Minimum order for FS from the store is $35 which is usually doable. My store is not that far from my house and I would have made the trip but I had just been there earlier on Wednesday but had forgotten the item that I had originally gone there to get. Got a bunch of other stuff but not what I had planned to get. Getting old is a bitch!

I haven't run into any problems with Amazon like you have. It's just been in the last two months or so. I agree with you on the Walmart deliveries. They've definitely improved that service. I use it to get the heavy stuff delivered like cat litter, bulk orders of canned cat food and bagged cat food. BTW, HEB has added a delivery service as well, although it's not free. If you don't mind getting it that evening or the next day, the fee is only $5 which is worth it to get the bottled water delivered. Those jugs are heavy! I try to order several weeks worth when I order them from HEB. I need to get up from the computer and go run some errands. I have pickups and a return to Kohls so I may swing by HEB after that. I tried to return to Kohls last week when I had a pickup but the line was too long. If it's too long again today, I'll just get the curbside pickup and take the returns back one evening next week when it's slower. Between my Kohls cash and the Kohls discount, I was able to get some additional pieces of Fiesta dishes at an insanely low price (well, low for Fiesta LOL). Score! Speaking of Fiesta, I ordered some pieces from Macys and Amazon too and accidentally ordered a small bowl in Tangerine, which I already had. I decided not to cancel the order since Tangerine is a discontinued color and hard to find. I use that size bowl for the cats and they won't care if they have two orange bowls Mid 80's, muggy and humid here today. Bleah. Clouds are building up so hopefully it will rain later today. For all you outdoor garden folks, I ordered this spinner from Amazon and it's really nice. Gorgeous colors, whether it's still or spinning, and nice solid metal weight: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09HBVBR8C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1I got the tree of life version.

I don't know if all stores had it but my HEB had the delivery service way back in covid days. It use to be free but then they added the $5 service charge. My neighbor was one of their best delivery customers.
The front of my store has tuned into a flower shop. More flowers than they have ever had at this time of year. It had been mostly annuals but now they are bringing in hibiscus, pentas, and lantana. First things to ride in the back of my truck yesterday. Now the planting begins.

I love Walmart delivery and can also watch the car as it travels to my house. Walmart is only about 2 miles from my house. The door dash people are super-nice.
I never used the Walmart gas discount at Sam's club, but it is now 10 cents off a gallon. Might try that this week after my butt shot. Hopefully I can figure it out since I need to use the QR code at the pump.

I have never heard of Lantana, but I just picked up 2 hanging baskets to benefit the Relay for Life. I had to look that up on Google lens. They are so pretty- burgundy Lantana and pink and yellow petunias.

denise15601 Lantana is a perennial and will come back after a freeze. It is one of my fill-in plants because it loves the sun and hot weather and doesn't require feeding and watering to flower up. Lantana and salvia come back for me every year and even did after our major freeze last year. Plus they flower out all summer and into the fall.

Just don't put lantana in a yard with unsupervised cats or dogs - it can be toxic to cats and dogs if eaten.

hmmm, my lantana is in a hanging basket. So I can put it into the ground for next year?
I like the fact that it likes sun since those baskets will get the full sun all afternoon.

Yes, plant it in the ground in a place that gets lots of sun. Another good thing about lantana is that it will reseed in other parts of your garden. There was a lantana by the fence across the alley from me where nobody knows where it came from. It has reseeded itself to across the alley by my fence and another plant in each of the two circular beds on my patio which is near the alley fence. Those two plants have led to 3 other plants in my backyard. I know they are from that original alley plant because the flower clusters are the same.

Walmart had one or two big warehouse fires in the past few months. That may have affected some areas. Some stuff that I tried ordering last year has finally come back in stock. We wanted a second submersible pump and they were on backorder. Got a notice I could order it and got that two weeks ago.

QVC had a huge distribution center burn down in December, but I haven't noticed any significant delays. They've always been a bit slow to ship and process returns, even before the fire I like that Walmart is now bagging or boxing the deliveries instead of just dumping stuff at your door I can actually get deliveries now at my mailbox place since stuff is bagged.

A little miffed at the guy who fills my digger dog holes. Last year he took Venmo. This year the invoice had a PO Box to send checks.
He hadn’t cashed it yet so I asked him if he got it. He thinks he lost it. Will cost me $ to stop payment on it. I told him to give it another week.

I bet he was using a personal Venmo account (no fee) and got caught, and now doesn't want to pay the fee to use business Venmo. Even with the fee, though, it's still cheaper than credit cards.

But not cheaper than checks and checks are not traceable back to tax liability. Lot of cash changes hands in the hood with small business guys who are also paying their guys off the books.
As long as they are insured and are on our city's vendor list, it is all good.

LOL! Checks are most definitely traceable back to tax liability. Even cash isn't 100% tax-hidden proof anymore (although still easier to hide than checks and ccs).

LOL Not when the checks are made out to cash or a person's name and taken to my bank to cash. The check doesn't have to be deposited in an account to be payable. If the check is cashed at my bank, how is it traceable?
Before I switched banks my bank charged for cashing checks if you didn't have an account with them. I only knew that because the guy that fixed my garage post asked if I could get cash instead of a check because my bank would charge him to cash the check.
The IRS is so behind and screwed up that they don't have the time or the people to deal with what is right in front of them much less be tracing down money from guys that are cutting trees, power washing, and other bits and bobs.

Kritter - I would like to try this lantana down on the bottom wooded natural beds where all wild stuff grows up every Spring and dies back every Winter. There are lots of natural bushes but nothing flowering, no mulch. We always look down there and comment how nice it would look if that area had flowers blooming in the summer, but it's too far away to take care of like the deck pots that I keep trimmed/pinched. We need something maintenance free down there, and spreading would be a bonus. I read up on it somewhat, hoping that it will survive the cold winters here. The lower edge of our property where the lawn ends becomes the area where the lawn guys blow all the Fall leaves, so there would be a good layer of protection on the lantana in the Fall/Winter. My question is how do you go about the original plants? Just buy them in pots and transplant or do you sow the seeds to begin with?

I think your planting zone is too cold for lantana to be a perennial. Have you googled ground covers that are native to where you live?

Lantana is definitely maintenance free. The only time i pay them any attention is when I cut them back after they freeze.
Not sure how they would do up there where you are. Mine made it through last winter when we had the super big freeze for us but that just lasted maybe a week or 10 days. I have blanked it out of my mine as a winter that I do not want to remember.

Thanks. But they only go for about $2 each. Will keep checking. Looks like prices are all over the place. I was selling mine in a lot of 12 in the $40-50 range. I guess it's only around $4 per cartridge but I'd rather have the cash in hand than anything else. I thought that Staples stopped giving checks for empty cartridges but I must be wrong or maybe they just give you credits. Seems like I used to get a check in the mail but this is going back many years. They have all kinds of rules now, minimum purchases, etc. Results in almost never getting a check. I'm going to look into selling mine. It's been a couple of years since Staples was worth it, since I don't buy anything else there so don't meet the minimum requirements.

Pantlandia Glad to hear things are turning around for you. Just curious on the cross lister. I have not branched out beyond Ebay yet & I know I need to. I have close to 2000 listings when I've got all my relists done. How would you approach that? Do them all? Choose a certain number? Based on what? I'm just kinda lost as to what strategy to use. Interesting about AMZN, we haven't had problems either & often get next day delivery. Was in AZ a few weeks ago & ordered something for my mom & it was delivered in under 24 hours! That was a new record! Though when we drove into town, we saw a shiny new AMZN building that hadn't been there the last time, so I think they got a distribution center in Tucson. What a difference it made. I wanted to get the item before I left so I could test it out for my mom. Never dreamed it would be there the next morning, when I ordered it around 4pm.

I pretty much took a price point and started with everything over that. You could try longest listed or most/least watchers/views? I'd definitely start out with the free 50 and see how it goes with listings. Then decide if you want to buy more listings or just list another 50 when you get more in a month.
