Another month bites the dust. Fingers crossed spring will actually come in March. Reminder if you celebrate that Fat Tuesday is March 1st and Lent begins Ash Wednesday the 2nd. There's also St. Patrick's Day on the 17th and Daylight Savings time to look forward to on the 13th. Currently still too cold around these parts so hopefully these will be the last of the cold weather pics for a long time. Hope everyone has a super duper no blooper day.

We've got our good old weather back instead of that skeery ice - raining and in the 50s. I'd rather have that any day than being slipping around on black ice. Our neighbours are doing a good job keeping the storm drains cleared so our little road doesn't flood, though it's not as bad this time of year as it is during the November storms and squalls when all the leaves are blown down and clog everything.

Home listing today. It's going to be a gorgeous 84 degree day. Was at the GW down the street when they opened the morning and swiftly scored about 5 things. A few things for both id's.
I'm driving myself crazy trying to decide what to do with something that's been sitting unlisted for a while. I need to list it or let it go. Could use some others thoughts. It's a like new cute print Britax carseat cover with shoulder straps and belly pad covers. Only problem is the car seat has been discontinued and expired for some time. Trying to think if some sentimental Britax crazed mom could repurpose it or use it for something. Yah or nay?

But of course you should mention that the seat is no longer sold.

I'd definitely mention. The model for the cover is still sold but the design has been significantly changed and they no longer offer fun kid friendly prints and haven't for some time. know selling expired car seats is a huge no no but not sure about the covers. Can't find any info on google.

Hello, hope everyone is doing well. We started off in the 30s this morning but will be reaching a sunny 70 degrees this afternoon The sunshine returned Sunday afternoon and it is just glorious! I will have to get myself motivated to do some yard work Saturday as we are due to hit 80 then.
Well they did move mom to another room and it turned out to be more of a lateral move. There's a new roommate and she's bed ridden and very loud and complaining and constantly needing/wanting something. And apparently expects mom to help do things that mom's not capable of doing. And mom uses the bathroom a lot (A LOT!) and the new roommate doesn't like the sound of the bathroom door closing constantly. And wants the window open when it's cold then mom's freezing. But she did say she'd prefer not to be on the lock down side so I guess what can you do. And she said she understands the roommate is in a bad way and feels bad for her but is tired of hearing her complain.
We had a nice birthday lunch with her yesterday. Where she broke her hip is bothering her, but she doesn't remember that she broke her hip. And she said she's having bowel issues (she can't specifically describe what but said something's wrong "down there") My sister is trying to reach her social worker to see how we can arrange for the dr that comes in to see her, and does she need to be referred to another doctor or what. But she hasn't been getting any calls returned, it's really frustrating.
I had some nice sales lat week but they seem to have come to a screeching halt this week. Well I am working on turning inventory, maybe that will help.
If it was me I would just donate the car seat cover as the car seat is expired.

Can't find any info on google. Expired car seats are a safety hazzard. But the covers are ornamental and have nothing to do with the safety of the seat so theoretically you could list the cover. If it's a cool kids print that isn't available, or hard to find (as in, what's out there now is boring like everything else), I'd list it. Esoecially if there is anyway it could be altered to fit any of the current seats. Manufacturers are bad about offering neutral boring crap because it's easy and/or cheap, and not offering colors and prints (which are often what buyers DO want). That goes for anything BTW LOL.

I'd list the car seat with the disclaimer that the listing is for the COVER ONLY and the seat has been discontinued. Leave it up for a while, if it doesn't move then you could donate it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Sunny and 70 on tap here today. I'm glad I asked the vet for an estimate for Toby's visit next week. It's about 3x more than I estimated. OUCH! I'm going to split it up into two visits, or find another place to get the dental cleaning done and just let the current vet handle the growth removal on his side. The bookkeeper I assigned to a major project with a deadline just told me this morning she can't do it and can I reassign it? I wish she'd told me this 3 weeks ago when she accepted the job, or even last week. We have multiple years to do and it has an IRS deadline. On the bright side, my backup outsource bookkeeper is just as fast as the staff member I originally assigned the project too, plus the outsource lady does a better job. At least tomorrow and Friday I'll be training our newest bookkeeper, that will be fun (seriously, she's really sharp and catches on fast). Guess I better go fix breakfast so I can get to work earlier rather than later and earn more LOL!

It's just gorgeous here, currently 71 and sunny with a breeze. I had several errands I ran on my bike and it was so lovely to get out. The red bud trees and saucer magnolias are starting to bloom, as are the azaleas. So pretty
Well my sister has been trying to reach the social worker that was assigned to mom to see about getting her seen to a dr and when she calls they transfer her then the phone just rings and rings with no way to leave a message. That's really ridiculous. I have a feeling we'll have to try and talk to someone Monday when we go to visit mom. So frustrating.
Vets are so expensive! I'm not sure which is worse, the cost of health care for humans or animals.

Speaking of taxes, I called to make an appt and my accountant moved to Mexico. Several years back she divorced and remarried someone who works for one of the major airlines (I forget which one). Anyway they had a house each and sold one and I guess because the market is so good they decided to sell the other one, get rid of the office she worked out of and move to Mexico while deciding what they want to do. I have to mail my stuff to Lukeville AZ which is apparently in the US just outside of Mexico and she wants it all to arrive two weeks before my appt at the end of the month. A little nervous about it, hopefully it'll be fine. She's younger than me, mid 40's maybe. Hoping she doesn't plan on quitting. I know she was enjoying and taking full advantage of all the travel perks during the off season. oh and a beautiful 85 degrees right now

OMG-I got the best ever fish sandwich today! An Italian restaurant 10 miles from me has had drive-thru meals. The sandwich is at least 12" long with a ton of fish. Will feed me for 4 days. Also got pierogies & cole slaw-$14 total. And had to get a $4 container of haluski.
And they will have this meal every Friday for lent.
Granted, some of you gals don't know what pierogies or haluski are, right?

Pierogies yes haluski no. Googled, cabbage and noodles... I could eat that. Reminds of exbf, he was part Lebanese and ate a few interesting things. One was pasta, can't remember if it was egg noodles or macaroni with browned onions and cottage cheese mixed in. Sounds weird but it was good.

Yes to the cabbage, no to the noodles. I'm not fond of pasta. But cabbage I love. Busy day today, I got a lot done but not what I had scheduled. Oops! I'm logging off the computer after this so my eyes have time to adjust from the blue light. Hopefully I can go to bed at a normal time tonight as I need to get up early tomorrow. Ugh. I think I need some ice cream while I watch TV

I can't win for losing lately!! Now my dryer is making a horrible noise. We have TWO, yes two, mouse that ended up on the glue traps and disappeared!! OMG! Where did they go? I have torn my laundry room upside down and we cannot find the suckers. Now I am wondering if they have managed to get inside my dryer while trapped on the glue pad? Sent DH to Home Depot and got some regular mouse traps so this doesn't happen again.
We have caught two behind the stove, two in the laundry room, and two in the garage. Gives me the heebie jeebies just to type that. Still debating on what to do about the stove. I have pretty much given up on cooking this week at this point lol.
So, today I found myself hanging individual socks on a clothes hanger to hang dry a load of socks and undies. At least a dryer isn't a 100% necessity and I can make do. I am going to run to the Dollar Tree tomorrow and grab a pack of clothes pins to clip the socks on for drying. I hang dry a lot of clothes anyways - I generally only dried sock/undies, towels, and sheets so I already have some drying racks. I have a huge meeting tomorrow at work and DH's birthday is coming up so we have plans this weekend - did not plan on having to disassemble my dryer this weekend as well. My dryer isn't even 5 years old so I am hoping it can be salvaged.
ETA: I am not Catholic but I am excited for the Lenten fish frys to begin! We will likely head to our favorite Catholic church up the street for fish for the next few weeks. Yum!

What is everyone paying for gas in your area? We just jumped another 20-cents overnight the other day. We are now up to 3.859. Filled our SUV, it was at a half tank (its a large tank) and that cost 59.00 just for half a tank. I used to fill it from empty for that amount. Just got an email from our independent IGA store. They are dropping the senior/veteran discount of 10% down to 5% due to increased costs of everything.
I charge everything on our credit cards for cashback and points, so I need to go check what cards give what. I know Discover is on 5% cashback at grocery stores for this quarter. I need to use the right cards for the best benefits/cash-back. I usually just use one card for everything to make it easier. I think TD is on 5% cashback at gasoline stations. They're my bank too, so it makes it easier to pay the bill as it ties to your checking accounts, you can pay the CC online right from there.

Cliff just got a new American Express, he's getting I think 6% cash back on groceries and some other nice perks. I got gas yesterday, don't remember what it was but I know it was more than the last time I filled up. For the most part I've always used my paypal then bank card that Ebay funds go into to pay for inventory but for the last few months I've been using a credit card for the cash back. Now sales being so all over the place and not so hot I'm having a hard time keeping up with balance so starting tomorrow I'm going back to using my bank card.
Home today, have listing to do and a TON of inventory to put away. For days I've been trying to get to it and run out of time. Need to pick up some prescriptions at Walgreen's, plan is to get there well before the open because the drive through line has been so crazy lately. Wish that my insurance would pay for a 90 day supply, premium is so high and it kind of pi$$es me that don't/won't do this. I need to check into other options, would love to not have to drive and wait for my 2 measly rx's every 30 days.

(((Pyrex))). I feel for you. We had a family move in behind us (Manufactured home park) that should have never been allowed to rent the place, but that's another story. They were filthy and neglected their little children. When they were kicked out, we started to get mice in our house. I was talking to the manager about the mice because we never had them before. She said when they did the clean out of that home it was full of mice and rats. I battled them off and on for a year and still don't know where they were getting in. I catch an occasional one even now. We found the traps with teeth worked best. We have ferel cats around and they help keep the population down.
Recently we had a family of skunks under our house. Trapped and released three, but I think we still have one under there. UGH.

Gas here was $3.70 gal. yesterday, which was 10¢ up from Tuesday. Who knows what it is today. I kick myself not filling up last week when it started out at $3.24 gal. My shopping territory usually expands as weather improves, but at these prices, not to mention how much higher groceries are, will keep me in the immediate area.
Pyrex- sorry to hear about your run of bad luck. Regular traps using peanut butter or salami (salami has always been my "go to" that's always worked fast) are the way to go to make sure they're dead and gone. MIL had a mouse problem downstairs last year that DH set up traps all over and wound up killing 8. He keeps a few traps set up (it's half sunk basement level with garage, back area and 2 rooms) to be proactive and so far so good.
We got snowy mix last night that turned to all snow and other than pavement, everything's covered in white again. Supposed to get a real taste of spring this weekend around 67 on Sunday. March is always a very strange month of varying temps.

Got my rx's, was the first in line at the drive through just before 8:40. Glad they're opening at 9 now instead of 10. Good for another 30 days. On the way back I noticed one gas station was $3.99... ouch.

Post by labbypaws on Mar 3, 2022 16:28:26 GMT
WaWa was $3.999 on my way home last night. I need gas ugh. I have had to cut back on a few things to pay for gas to get to work. I am going to have to try to pick up 4 hr OT a month to help cover the increase. I cut back on going to the salon and switched to Great Clips and L’Oréal Hair Color. I also switched to Kirkland dry dog food. It is highly rated. Trying to research whether one of their dry foods is for sensitive skin. The cutbacks should help me at the grocery store too.
I paid off a loan from my 403 to free that cash up.
It is ridiculous.

Speaking of neighbors...my next-door neighbor is a total slob and his yard is a mess of weeds and 20 year old rusted kids swings and toys. He heats his house with wood and the stench is really bad and bothers my lungs so much. His ex-wife told me that he was warned many years ago to get his chimney cleaned out, but he won't do it.
Anywho, he used to do tree work and he piled the logs up between my yard and his. The logs are old and filled with termites. 15 years ago, I had a termite infestation in my family and laundry room(and my house is all brick). Cost me $3,000 for the initial treatment, and $250 a year for follow-up inspections. I finally stopped the inspections since I would have to pay the entire $3,000 fee if they strike again. The logs are still there, but quite porous. I asked my pest-spraying guy if I should have them moved, but he said it was too late.

I had a RAT in my laundry room years ago, before we remodeled it. It was coming down out of the attic, so I put out some poison on top of the water heater where I saw the poo. At the time we just had an old sheet between the kitchen and laundry room and I opened the sheet and omg there was the dying rat on the floor! Lord I wouldn't come out of my room until DH got home and got it for me lol.
I have a new washer and an old dryer and use the clothesline most of the time (I have clothes out today). I guess not everyone has the weather to hang clothes out, but the dryer has never been a necessity for me either. Although it's handy during a spate of bad weather. I hope it's nothing serious and you can get it fixed soon.

I use the Chase Freedom that has 4 categories of 5% back each year, currently it's groceries which is really the only one I earn from lol. It's only 1% on regular purchases. Then I used the Freedom Unlimited for daily purchases, which is 1.5%. It's sometimes a bit much to keep up with and pay in full each month, but definitely worth the cash back.
