I thought bidder IDs were hidden from a seller on an auction

Didn't it used to be like that? Or is it only that nobody BUT the seller can see the id on an active auction? I'm running an auction now and the high bidder's ID is showing. It surprised me but maybe it's been like that & I just never noticed it before.
