Heads up - Shipping Pymt Method got switched - UPDATE

me.  Has anyone else had this happen?  I have been paying shipping out of my Pending Payouts.  Been that way since the beginning.  

About a month ago, I apparently started paying out of PP, which had a 0 balance, so it went to my CC, so now I have a million little low dollar CC tx's for over a month that are all shipping.  So freaking annoying!  I am behind on balancing both Ebay & my CC, so I had no idea, until I went to double check something in PP the other day & saw all the tx's there & launched an investigation.   Sure enough, my checkbox when I print a label was set to PP.  Only thing is *I* didn't change it & had no idea it had changed.  I am not happy    Created so much more accounting work for me!  

Keep an eye out.  But I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?  Is there somewhere else to set the preference?  The only place I could find was when printing a label.  I see where I can set Payout Settings, but not Shipping Charges preferences.  

UPDATE EDIT- So 2 nights ago I think, I was in the middle of printing labels, late at night & Ebay starting hiccupping all over itself with the "Uh Oh" screen & all kinds of glitches.  I had printed a couple of labels fine & then I was trying to print the last one when the Uh Oh's started happening.  DH was in my office & happened to be watching.  We both saw that the flag had changed, all by itself to Paypal, instead of Pending Payouts.  Even though I had just printed 2 labels from Pending Payouts, fine.   I tried changing it & got a few more Uh Oh screens.  Gave it a few minutes, went back in & everything was back to normal, including the Pending Payout checkbox.   

So, I saw it happen in front of my own eyes, with a witness.   I'm still not in the habit yet.  I just printed 6 labels tonight & didn't think to check one of them.  Arrrghhh.

Mine was changed also. Came out of my checking account attached to Paypal.
I didn't see any way of changing it until an few weeks (or a month) ago. Since I changed it to pending payouts that is what it automatically reverts to now. Thankfully!

I'm sorry it happened to you too. Did yours happen approx 9/21?  That's the day it starting taking funds out of PP, except there were no funds in PP, so it's very annoying.  I cannot think of any way that I would have triggered the change.  Mine has stayed back to Pending Payouts, but I'm really leery that it's going to change back, on it's own :-(

I'm using eBays reports to keep track of shipping costs. While it was annoying to not see a choice of payment, it won't involve any extra work on my part.

zoesam - you don't need to change a preferences setting - if you change it back to pending payouts when you create a label it should stick. But yeah, I'd keep an eye on it - I heard of something like that happening on the boards. Mine has stayed on pending payouts save once when I manually changed it to Paypal, then changed it back again.

Yeah, my PP had 0 in it, so now I have a million small dollar tx's to balance on my credit card :-(  Just annoying.

Sounds like I wasn't the only one.  It has stuck since I set it back, but since it's way on the bottom, I don't remember to look, so I'd like to be able to globally set my preference.

So. I just noticed mine set to PayPal and there was no option to change it back. It's always been there before you print your labels, but now it's not (on mine at least).





ETA: ok, it's apparently there if i print a single lable, where as before it was there no matter how i printed labels.

Single label as opposed to what?  Multi-order labels or whatever they're calling it these days?  I always use single label & it's there.   Do you know when it changed for you?  Just curious if it was around the same time as mine.  I went through my PP history & saw that on 9/21, I started getting charged there.

All of my stuff goes the same shipping method, so I generally bulk print my labels. .However, I usually use pirateship. i did print a couple labels on 10/31, but they are showing as coming out of my pending payouts, so sometime after the 1st of November. 

There used to be a section on the pop up window before you purchased to let you make the change to the funding source. it's not there any longer. It is only there on the single labels.

chapeaunoir the pop-up is just part of printing a label.  You wouldn't be able to print the label without it.  When you click Purchase Shipping Label a 2nd screen comes up, that's basically a pop up.  I'm pretty sure that's what Jeremy's referring to.  You may not think of it as a pop-up, but you would not be able to complete a label, if you weren't getting it.  On Ebay that is.

i have the option if my label is printed one at a time and yes, on the main label screen. The option is gone completely if you use the bulk label printer; not on the first screen, not on the confirmation window. 

I'm just going to continue to use pirate ship and get my cash back from my debit card.

There is a confirmation window that comes up before the label window (my picture is cropped to show only that 'pop-up'). There USED to be an option to change your payment method. It's not there anymore. Also, in MY bulk shipping area, there is no option to change it either. The only place I can find to change it is if I pull up a single listing and scroll down before selecting any options for the label.

I think mine may have been changed to Paypal originally by using bulk shipping.
I usually print one label at a time since I don't get a lot of sales all at once.
I used bulk shipping again last week and it reverted back to pulling $ from paypal.
The next label I purchased was set to paypal rather than existing funds, so I had to change it again.
I guess I will have to be hyper vigilant from now on.

Maybe, maybe not. That's def not why mine changes, since I've never used bulk shipping since I've been on MP.

Oh. OK. I've never seen a confirmation pop up first, I thought you meant the one in the first label window. I'm not sure what you mean by "pull up a single listing". The only place I see one is when you go to print the label, at the very bottom of the first screen. On single labels, I have no idea about bulk, but I believe you :-)

It should be a global setting somewhere.

But when I choose to bulk print labels, there is no option to change the payout method:



There is a confirmation window when you use the bulk postage that 'pops up' before you print postage. There USED to be an option to select the payout method on that:




Also, notice it is still showing PayPal, despite the fact that I printed two single labels earlier and chose postage from payouts, so I cannot find a way to change the payment method on the bulk labels.

Thank you Pantlandia , that clarifies what you were saying, I appreciate it.  I use single labels 99% of the time, so I guess I just have to get used to checking every single time.  Which is hard to remember since it's way at the bottom of the page.  I forgot with the last 2 labels I printed.  

It seems they have a lot of work to do in this area still.  Bulk shipping should allow for a change & there s/b a global setting in either your MP options or your shipping options!

I thought that it reverts to your backup payment method (Paypal for example) when you don't have enough in your eBay managed payments to cover the label--like when you've recently had your proceeds transferred to your bank account or whatever. I did notice that Paypal paid for one of my labels recently and attributed it to that. But I will start to check now too because eBay.

I'm not talking about that.  I'm talking about my payment method box actually changed to Paypal for shipping labels.  

Totally different.  

I don't even think you can have PP as your backup b/c that's not just for labels.  IDK for sure though.  Even though I have a bkup method & have def had sales after a payout, they just take my MP negative for a period of time (usually hours).  I've never had it actually use the backup method.  If you're suddenly having labels come out of PP, def check your setting.  Mine was like that for a month before I noticed & I don't use PP anymore, so it's very annoying, as I had no balance.  

It's really hard to get in the habit of checking the label screen too!  I printed 3 labels this AM, 2 last night & totally forgot to check all 5
