Looks like this will only affect letters and magazines. Of course, that means my items shipped with no case will be affected. As if the 30+% postage increase wasn't bad enough, now they get to take longer.

The overall performance of the P.O. has slowed down so this isn't a surprise, just an excuse to try to justify it. I've had priority packages that are supposed to take 2-3 days get delivered in 5-7 days for awhile. Pay more, get less.

I just switched to online credit card statements due to this crud. I am a bit fearful of this step but I also know when my bills are due. Just irritating. I have been paying bills online for quite some time though. Just not using the online statements.
BTW, someone posted on Ina's page that they probably are trying to get more people to use Priority Mail.

A couple of weeks ago I mailed a birthday card from NC to MD. I mailed it inside the post office on a Sunday. It was delivered on Friday. The mail has already slowed down, and now they're saying it's going to be worse?

When my bills were delayed last December, I did switch my bills to online. But I have them on 2 different accounts and I never know when I will have enough in one account to pay it.
And the ones in question won't let me add another bank.
Meanwhile, if the new bill in Congress isn't passed, our SS will be delayed. So all of my bills will be late anyway.

I've had my bills and statements online for years - I can't even remember when I had a paper statement in the mail. There's no problem with it and I find it far smoother and no worries about late mail.

Easy to keep track of all my bills, easy to make sure payments are received in time, and I save a few dollars a month on postage, too.

I am trying to have all the bill notifications go to one email account. Having an issue with Bank of America. I guess I have to call or stop in and see them. It won’t give me the option of changing the paperless billing email address.

My Gap credit card was switched to paperless a few months ago. It slipped my mind and I missed a payment. As soon as I saw it, I paid it in full. Waiting to see what it does to my credit score.
Haven't noticed much of a slow down with packages, not that I'm aware of anyway. I do have a package that was mailed to Buffalo NY on 9/24. Right now it's bouncing around between Akron and Cleveland.

Call the number on the back of the credit card. Exact same thing happened to me when I switched a new account over to paperless. Just explain the situation and they will credit your account for the late fee they charged you, as long as you have not had any other late payments in the past year. I also missed a payment during a winter blizzard a few years ago when all power was down, internet, phone, etc. for several days. I paid as soon as I had internet access and there was no problem getting the late fee waived. I now make sure I pay or schedule several days in advance on all bills. I know Chase issued cards only go back 6 months so be sure you call within that time as other cards might be the same. Your credit score won't be affected unless the payment is over one billing cycle late. One day late or even a week late won't make a difference on your score. You have to be 30 days late for them to report it to the credit bureau. However, even if you are one day late, most accounts will raise your interest rate. But if you pay off in full each month, that won't matter in the long run.

Last payment was 8/11, I think the next payment was due around 9/4 and I noticed it on 9/22 which is when I paid it it full. I'll definitely call to see if anything can be done.

It's definitely not just the P.O. slowing down. I have a FedEx package that was supposed to be delivered 10/2, delayed to 10/3, now in "pending delivery" status. It's been at the same location 2 1/2 hours away since Saturday, had its 6th scan this morning showing delivery from the 6th-13th. I can't even sign up for updates because their system has been unavailable since at least Saturday. Today is Tuesday.
I found a thread started on Reddit that shows I'm not the only one with issues at this facility (and apparently not just this one). I'm going to refer to them as FedUp because that's what I am. What ticked me off the most is getting status showing I was supposed to have the packaged delivered by end of the day on Sunday and waiting the entire day and finally getting changed status around 7:30pm it switched back to "pending". I'd like to know why it's been scanned twice the last 2 days showing "in transit" from the same facility all 6 scans. In transit where- going around the same conveyor over and over?
I recently had a FedEx package from TX to OH that was delivered faster than it's taking this one around 130 miles away in the same state.

Apparently the site I ordered from is getting a lot of complaints because all their delivery options (ground, regular, express) all show to expect delays 5-10 days.
Funny, but I noticed I could nickname the order so put "Stuck in (name of city)". An hour later, it's finally updated that it arrived at FedEx facility ( separate FedEx building from where it's been scanned the last 4 days?) in same city and now supposed to be delivered by end of day tomorrow. Not holding my breath.
UPDATE: Halleluah, got notice it was out for delivery with nearest city and to my surprise, not only got delivered this morning, package was left outside my apartment door, which is 18 steps up stairs. I will give kudos for that.

OMG, FedEx is the worst. You cannot track Smartpost at all on the FedEx site, and it's not trackable on the USPS site until it's been turned over to USPS. About the only time I CAN track something on FedEx is on the day of delivery. But even then, that's not always accurate. Sometimes FedEx will mark a package "delivered" when it's a Smartpost package that has been handed over (or "delivered") to the PO, not to you. FedEx needs to rename Smartpost to Slowpost.

FedEx is on the ball here. I ordered from Chewy Monday night and the box just arrived a few minutes ago.
Totally surprised when the email popped up that the box was delivered.

FedEx a little north of you, Kritter is horrid. We're near Georgetown, (north of Austin Texas for those not familiar with our big state) not inside any town. They schedule deliveries, then back out. Our mailbox is 1/3 mile from the numbered county road. We're on a street with a name and several houses with numbers. The street is curved so we can't see most of it from our house. FedEx will dump packages anywhere from the base of the mailboxes to the end of our driveway. Once they dumped a cardboard package out there during a rainstorm. The box fell apart as we carried it to the house. Just this week I finally received a "smartpost" package that was shipped over a month earlier. I was able to track it as it bounced around for awhile, then rested for a week or so, etc. I sent many messages with no response or just ones about it being "in transit". I tried calling but the answering system just took me in circles.
The way I tracked the package was to request status report. They would send me one, but only one. If I wanted to know status the next day I had to request another report.

jandsknight That is a bummer. May be because you are kinda off the grid is a small area as opposed to being in town with dropoffs on every street.
I also have to give some credit to Chewy who gets the stuff out the door in record time.

Jana, I had a problem with FedEx dropping deliveries right outside our garage doors instead of up on the porch. A few times DH got into the vehicle in the garage, pressed the door opener, and backed out onto boxes. On every online order I placed, I made sure my delivery addresses had "leave on porch door" but that didn't help with FedEX. I called them several times to make a complaint to no avail.
Finally got a FedEx rep who told me I had to go into my FedEx delivery account (or make one if I didn't have one) and put explicit instructions there under the "special delivery instructions". That stopped it completely. The drivers get a text or something like that on all deliveries that have "special delivery notes" as they arrive to your location and must follow it. This is in the Northeast, so don't know if it's different there, but I assume they have the same website everywhere.

Chewy is usually overnight for me. I am comparing their prices to local places because a bag of dog food is over $60 for 30-40 pounds. Just bought a bag of Kirkland Costco food to try to start changing over. Trying the weight control as I have been having a issue buying the weight control formula I buy on Chewy. Been out for 6 weeks so I have had to go to Petsmart when it is in stock. If it works out ok, I am going to change over the sensitive skin formula I buy too. We have a dog door so if it loosens their stool, they can get outside. I know I have to change it over gradually a little more every few days.

We have all kinds of issues with FedEx. From deliveries going elsewhere to them leaving it where they want. I have had drivers push hewn boxes off the back, onto my drive, barely missing my car. And yes, I have to make sure they didn’t dump it behind my car.

I am going to have to be especially nice to my FedEx driver because apparently he is a FedEx Rockstar.
Not that I ever see him but if I do, I will be appreciative.

I’m in the St Louis area and FedEx is hit or miss for me. Last month I had several packages that kept giving me ETAs, then the next day the date would change, then change again the next day, etc. All of them arrived several days later than I was originally told, and none were Smartpost, either. This week I had a FedEx package arrive in 2 days, as scheduled.

That has been my experience and a friend of mine who uses Fed-Ex has been driven crazy - he has to be home to pick up the parcel because he has trouble with porch thieves in his district, and with their constantly changing their dates/times it's really tough to take the time off from work.

You are absolutely right about delivery times varying. We were waiting for new iPhones. His came first. Didn’t come until dinner time. Usually here by 11 AM.
