I like the Rachel Comey marble print, it's kinda cool. I don't care for any of the actual clothes though. Much of the plus size stuff is heavy and bulky, and not very flattering.

I like the green pants and the navy sweater, just not together. But I will not pay those prices. Instead, I will wait for it all to go to the Target Outlet Goodwill and pick it up for much less.

Yeah, that Glemaud pink & green set is REALLY not flattering. It's not heavy or bulky, but pink & green horizontal stripes? No. Just no.

I doubt there will be lines of customers at the door waiting to grab any of that stuff.

Target didn't do those collections any favors by using what appears to be an apple shaped plus model. Plus size model, yes, brownie points to Target. But an apple shape for stripes? Not the greatest idea IMO. The fabric also appears to be really heavy and bulky, and that adds pounds to any size IMO.

I wouldn't buy it or want to wear ANY of it. And why are they putting all kinds of horizontal stripes on plus-size clothing?

A big batch of ugly clothes.

I wouldn't buy it or want to wear ANY of it. And why are they putting all kinds of horizontal stripes on plus-size clothing? For some reason this year, a lot of plus size stuff has horizontal stripes (summer and fall clothes). If they're done right, they aren't that bad. Unfortunately much of what is out there isn't done right. Varigated or stripes that fade at the edges (I don't know the term for that), or stripes in mixed sizes and in softer colors isn't that bad. I have a few tops like that and I was surprised that they actually looked good on. But the larger the horizontal stripe, or the more extreme the contrast in color doesn't flatter at all. Example, I have two winter tops from Belk in small horizontal stripes, one in a light mint green/white and the other in light pink/white and they look good on, the stripe isn't that obvious. But the one in dark navy/white really added some weight and I returned it.

I think it comes down to it being very difficult to translate designer fashion into price points that cheap. It almost never works (I've seen a few collabs where it has, but the designer has used very basic shapes and pieces - no real innovation).
ETA: Nili Lotan seems to have done the best because she went for minimalist. I actually like some of those pieces but know they will never fit. Along with the cheap price point one doesn't get good tailoring.

I saw some pieces that are cute and I'd wear BUT Target clothes are never seem to fit me right. Seems I'm somewhere between 14-16, not quite either regular or plus size. To me the prices didn't seem outrageous for something a person would actually wear. But if you only wear it once or twice (the fate of most trendy fast fashion) that's a different story.

The prices aren't outrageous at all - it's a little above most mart clothing, yes, but...what...$50 for a trench coat? That's dead cheap, and one will probably get one what pays for, so I guess wasteful throw-away fashion. I remember the lauded Missoni collection - once I got my hands on some of the pieces, I was really astounded by how cheaply made the stuff was. Someone on eBay said "the quality is there" and I just thought that fast fashion has rotted a lot of people's idea of 'quality.' The housewares were nice, though.

Someone on eBay said "the quality is there" and I just thought that fast fashion has rotted a lot of people's idea of 'quality.' The housewares were nice, though. I agree. I just looked at a few pieces & the prices were around $30 which I thought was more than reasonable & frankly bordering on cheap (cost wise). Esp since I've never heard of any of these designers. Most tops in dept stores or stores like Chico's/AT, etc. are around $70-99, so I think $30-50 for "designer" items at Target are great prices. But I think many of us have warped price views from shopping thrifts so much. Also, I not only shop thrifts a lot, but being at home & living in such a casual state, I tend to wear $11 leggings & $14.99 t-shirts LOL. I can't imagine anyone wanting this & I even love the colors together, but def not the pattern & def not on a plus size: www.target.com/p/women-s-striped-tank-top-victor-glemaud-x-target-pink-green/-/A-82818269?preselect=82638193#lnk=sametabor this print. Well, I *AM* super cheap. LOL
I think some of them at $30 were reasonable. But then saw some at $60 & $70. I wouldn't pay that for Target quality.

Nordstrom has the worst plus clothing ads that come across on Facebook. They make the models look frumpy. I love reading the comments which go from”nice outfit” to “why are people fat shaming?”.
I know I need to get back on my diet but most people want to look and feel thinner when they buy new clothes. Not look like a beach ball with legs.

I know I need to get back on my diet but most people want to look and feel thinner when they buy new clothes. Not look like a beach ball with legs. No kidding. You can design bulky sweaters for plus that look nice on, but cutting it off at 25"-26" length (right at the widest point for many of us) doesn't cut it. Ralph Lauren/Chaps made some nice cotton cable knit sweaters in prior years that were on the bulky side but still looked good on. Plus size bodies come all shapes, just like regular size bodies. What I don't get is why the retailers don't pick the right shape body for the article being modeled. You'd think they'd want to make the article look as good as possible and use a complimentary body shape for the various clothing offerings.

Target stuff doesn't fit me, either - they don't grade the clothing very well at all so you have skinny size small arms on size large shirts, sashed items with sashes that sit 4" above the natural waistline no matter what the size, size 10 pants with size 2 width legs, etc.

Honestly, as a fat woman, I'm sick and tired of the main emphasis on my clothing being "slimming". I'm fat. Vertical or horizontal stripes, I'm gonna be just as fat as I am in a solid, and I do not believe the only purpose of my appearance is to give the illusion that I am less fat or some other shape that I am not.

Seems to be just another example that designers don't design for plus size women. Maybe it is that Target picked the wrong shape (apple as Val said) for the style, but then does that means the none of the designers designed anything for the apple shape (at least I don't remember seeing a pear shape model)? As a designer, I think I would be pretty embarrassed if my whole collection went on clearance and/or got sent to Goodwill.

I doubt those designers know or even care what happens to that stuff. They got their money so it's all good for them.
Their main market is probably not Target shoppers in the first place
