Hello to Fall! We are getting a cold front on Wednesday. High will be 87 but it won't last long. Back in the 90s by Saturday.

I'm trying to keep looking at all the green leaves while they last. Around here, the trees have learned not to sprout new leaves until they're convinced winter is finally over, but the first signs of cooler weather and the leaves quickly turn colors and fall off. It gets a bit depressing to see the nekkid trees for months to come. But, for now, I'm still savoring our trip to the beach. Uploaded pics from my new Pixpro camera and they came out really nice. Very happy since 99% of the time I couldn't see into the viewfinder so guessed I was taking what I wanted to. Here's one of my favorite views sitting on the beach:

Hello to Fall! We are getting a cold front on Wednesday. High will be 87 but it won't last long. Back in the 90s by Saturday. My weather app has 80's all the way thru the weekend after the cold front. High 80s, but still... The night lows will be nice though - down in the 60s instead of the 70s I'm going to put the fall colors out on the patio this week, and pull the yellow floral outdoor lighted tree out of the closet and set it up. I bought a bunch of fall colored fake flowers and leaves at Joanne and Dollar Tree. I discovered the real stuff attracted too many wasps and mosquitoes so the patio wasn't usable by me or the cats for most of the summer. So fake it will be.

This is the first year since we moved out of our apartment that we will have no leaves from our own trees. We had them removed last Fall. We will still have leaves from the neighbors’ trees.

Ahh! Just right - nice, quiet beach with good waves. I see these photos of packed beaches and I think "why?"

One shot right into the bottom of my heel and the other into the top of the base of my big toe. Taking it easy for 24-48 hours. Took off today as I walk all shift at work.

I hope the shots work for you, labby! It was nice and fall feeling this morning. Early, anyway. Now it's back warming up but at least it's only going to 84 and not 94 All the dead stuff has been removed from the patio and it awaits its fall transformation. I probably can't do that until Saturday though. Bummer. But work calls and I gotta pay the bills somehow. I did find some natural wasp repellant treatments and ordered the necessary essential oils. I also bought a gorgeous bird feeder from QVC, so the kitties can have Bird TV. I just hope it doesn't also mean I'll be cleaning up a lot of bird poop. On the kitten front, Simon has both Toby and Trixie wrapped around his little paw. Me, too, if truth be told. He's easily double his size now, maybe triple, but he's still skinny as heck. Trixie still isn't into constant play and fights him if he wants to play and she doesn't, but sometimes she'll play with him and has mellowed enough that they both snooze next to each other on my lap and my side when I'm watching TV. Simon and Toby are best buds and I noticed yesterday that Toby is teaching Simon some of his (Toby) bad habits. Well, not really "bad", more like mischievious habits. It's pretty funny to watch and they both look really guilty when I finally put a stop to it. It appears I am the proud petmom of a princess and two class clowns.

Simon has really come into his own at your house. I am so glad that you picked him. Of that batch of kits, he was the one that I would have worried about if he had gone to Seattle. I knew the others would be fine anywhere but Simon needed a special person who would give him a chance.

One shot right into the bottom of my heel and the other into the top of the base of my big toe. Taking it easy for 24-48 hours. Took off today as I walk all shift at work. Hoping this helps you! My friend got cortisone shots in her big toe for arthritis and she said it helped enormously.
We had a cool front!!! Lower humidity and a bit breezy, just lovely! I think I will walk Janey down to Petsmart tomorrow as a treat for both of us. They sent me a free Halloween costume coupon for up to $20. Not that she'd wear one lol but I'll see what they have. And treats for her, of course.
We had a nice visit with mom on Saturday. DH grilled the chicken breast and I made potatoes and green beans and everything came out great, and mom really enjoyed the meal. And the home made ice cream. Not sure if I mentioned a friend's son got some vanilla from Mexico and she doesn't use a lot so she sent me some and the vanilla ice cream is SO GOOD!!! Youngest DD came by for a bit and mom couldn't remember her but she recognized her in a childhood picture. But when she left mom did say she remembered her a bit, so that is something.
It is really sad, DD was on the way to the funeral Saturday, of an elementary school friend. 26, he had stage 4 lung cancer (never smoked) that had already metastasized to his bones. He was diagnosed in late June and passed Sept 3. I was in the support group on FB and I have to say I was rather shocked at the treatment (both personal and medical) they received at MD Anderson. You always hear was a wonderful hospital it is, but I don't think that's always the case. He got radiation pneumonitis and they put him on a ventilator (conflicting reasons from different doctors with no continuity of care) and he got double pneumonia and died shortly thereafter. He was a wonderful person and an environmentalist and even created an app for the environment

Not only will you get poop, the worst part will be cleaning up all the bird seed that's on the patio. Birds are notoriously sloppy about feeders and fling seed all over the place. They also tend to gather and chase each other off which rocks the feeder and spills out more seed. You'll probably also have squirrels competing with the birds for the seed. If you're not setting it up off the patio where you don't have to clean up, you might look into laying down a tarp you can hose off around the bottom.
The kittehs will probably love the show!

First day of autumn around here was gloomy and literally rained all day and looks like it finally stopped. Hoodie and fleece weather is already here when the sun goes down.

It is my 50th Birthday Eve. Went for a Chinese lunch with a good friend. It was yummy. No plans tomorrow. Might hit a few close by thrifts in the morning when they open. Friday we're going up to Pinetop - Lakeside. Cliff rented a cabin for the weekend. Looking forward to enjoying some cooler weather. It felt really hot today but it was only 102.

Cool and rainy here - just like I like it, though we've had some nice sun breaks.
Having a long, hard struggle trying to get back into shape again and lose 20 lb (I decided after I lost 10 lb I'd lose 20 lb more - 10 lb makes basically no difference on me as I lose it completely evenly all over so I don't even change a size). That brings me 10 lb under ideal weight for my age, but I think that's probably better. I'll see how my face looks (eternal struggle between the face and the fanny). It's really frustrating, but I'm almost completely recovered from falling off the ladder (still having flare ups and still creaky - it was a long road back) after 2 years - gah! Don't fall off ladders onto cement floors and hit stairways on your way down.
labbypaws - I think you'll find real relief with the shots - start back easy, now - and gradually work back up to your former mileage, which as I recall is quite a bit! Coach Chapeau has spoken lol!
Still trying to decide what to do with the bidness - sales are so bad that it's really almost not worth it, but still haven't found alternate work - the DH wants me to keep selling online but it's pretty useless at this point.

It's been in the 80s since Tuesday. It's like the weather saw the calendar and decided to change temps accordingly. Today's high will be 54. Yes, that's the high. At least we'll go back up to more seasonally pleasant temps again for a bit:

Thanks Chap. I took sick days yesterday and today. The light duty job has been taken by my coworker who had his toe amputated. I will go back my normal shift Sunday. See how it feels and then ease into walking. Going to get a different insert for my shoes and break them in. The trainer at work said to stop in and he will give me the break in schedule.
Had a headache since yesterday afternoon. It is a side effect from the steroid.
Rain has been going up the center of the state just west of here. Hoping it stays that way. The people are still cleaning up from the last flood.

Those look like perfect temps to me :-) We're getting some traditional Oregon early Fall weather now- a little bit of rain and some sunshine.
DH and I were talking about emergency preparedness thiis AM- fires, smoke, heat & ice have us finally taking prepping suggestions seriously now. I still haven't figured out where a family of 6 would store the 80 gallons of water that's suggested for a 2 weeks supply and we're in a large house. Nooks & crannies I guess but ours are sorta full already.

Cancer totally sucks. They need a cure. Yes so terrible that a healthy 26 year old just got cancer and passed so quickly I know he grew up to be such a good citizen of the world too. And his mother's only child, I know they are heartbroken.
Well to segue from something so awful to something nice; the nursing home is having an outing to Galveston today and getting ice cream on the way home and the activities director told my sister that mom was "really excited" about it. And it is a GORGEOUS day here with low humidity and the low was 59, high low 80s, so a beautiful day for them to have an outing. She's been there since April and this is the first outing we've heard about. I'm not sure if they weren't doing it before, or if mom is more qualified to be included now that the confusion has cleared up and she's just dealing with memory issues. Either way I'm really glad she was excited and hopefully they will really enjoy it.
Janey and I had a lovely walk to Petsmart which included some treats for her and a free Evil Clown costume lol. And so nice to be out on such a pretty day. Oh and she got a ghost iced dog cookie as well.
I'm not sure if I mentioned that they are putting in a sidewalk on our street, on the side across from us. I'm not really sure why they didn't put in sidewalks when the neighborhood was developed in the 40s/50s. Only the street behind the schools had a sidewalk. I grew up in the suburbs and every street had a sidewalk. This is the city proper, although I'm not sure that has anything do to with it. It's a good idea for safety for walking, especially as there are three schools close by. But goodness what a pain! The noise, the mess. Friday they hit a water main and literally left it geyser-ing all night. They are literally blocking off the entire street with barrels, it's been a huge issue with trash, recycling, mail, etc. I sure will be glad when they finish this section. And I have to admit I'm glad it's not my side lol.

I'm really starting to dislike shopping on Etsy. It's annoying when something comes up on a google search and the price is $2.00 (example) but when you look at the listing, the item you want is $10.00 and the $2.00 was some cheap item added to the selection so that the lowest price showed up in search

We have almost no sidewalks up where I am - I'm north of Seattle in what used to be 'unincorporated King county' kind of a first ring old suburb/early settlement but zoned semi-rural, but incorporated quite a while back to form small towns (similar to Seattle being broken up into districts). Roads are narrow and winding but there are foot paths next to most of them, even if they're just boot trails formed by people walking - some it's just drainage ditches and you just walk in the road. The schools, though, now have sidewalks around them - HUGE mess putting those in, yes - I can't believe all the noise and smoke putting in narrow strips of concrete! But it makes a difference for the kids walking to school (which are a lot) - they're fine on the footpaths in their own little roads, but once they get onto the main road (still not that wide), in groups, they need better facilities as they overflow the footpaths. The schools here tend to be grouped together, so it's easier to zone them and put in facilities.
I'll be glad when construction season is over (we have two seasons - rainy season and construction season) - there's madness happening as the workers are now working to darkness, trying to get as much done as possible before the rain comes and stays. It's like they tore the whole place up and you can't get anywhere without running into detours, or big plates over the roadway, etc.

Yeah, their search is krap and some of the sellers really manipulate it. Every seller I looked at who had a multiple choice listing (colors/prints) pulled this stunt - adding a cheap item to the choices. I finally said to heck with it and went over to look on Amazon. Amazon's search sucks too but at least I don't have to put up with price manipulation (which is borderline bait & switch IMO).

London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down......... no wait... its my house that is falling down! UGH!
It's a long story with odd beginnings, but long story short, we have had a leak in our dishwasher for a while, unbeknownst to us. There was no visible water damage anywhere but a few weeks ago I noticed a soft spot in the floor. Well, we have fairly extensive water damage to the subfloor under the dishwasher, and potentially under our kitchen cabinets as well. We also needed the garbage disposal replaced and the plumber discovered the bottom of our sink has has epoxy placed on it because of a hole. So, now we need both a new sink and garbage disposal. The flooring is also likely needing to be replaced bc 1990s brittle laminate will not survive being torn up. So, new floors, new disposal, replaced subfloor, and new sink are in my future. Well, if I have to do all that I am going to do the counters while I'm at it.
So, uh, who wants to list with me! I'm gonna need some $$$ and then some!

Sorry to hear about your water damage, pyrex. Is your insurance going to cover the repairs, other than your deductible? Hopefully they will. My sister went through this a few years ago when she was out of town and her kitchen sink faucet leaked. Ended up having to replace the kitchen floor as well as the living room and dining room The insurance paid for all of it because it was all the same flooring and couldn't be matched.
