I've only found a Blue Fish once, many years ago. Just found 2 more, but they are pretty beat up. Not sure if they're worth listing, but I paid so little, I probably will. They are both very similar & likely came from the same person, as they both have similar buttons - see pix below. I'm a little suspicious of these buttons, as they're not quite what I would expect from BF, but since I'm not very familiar with the brand, maybe they're normal? I thought BF would be more likely to use natural shell, wood or cork, not these plastic, glass-look buttons. Thoughts? TIA.

Nice find! If Blue Fish buttons are anything like the fragile FLAX buttons these may be replacements of the damaged originals. You can compare yours to ones shown in other listings but I'd just write a disclaimer saying you're not sure about these.

They don't look like BF buttons to me (I've sold a fair amount of BF) - doesn't matter, it's a brand that's always being sold repaired (i.e., elastic replaced, etc.).

I've never seen buttons like that on Blue Fish but they could be original. Sometimes you can tell by looking at the back of the piece. A factory sewn button is not usually knotted in back. Hand sewn is usually uneven and knotted. Blue Fish does tend to look beat up, unevenly dyed and faded. I've even sold some that had a few pinholes.
Flax buttons are the worst! They are like chalk and break easily.

Good to know about the beat up look of BF, maybe these aren't as bad as I think they are. Perhaps I'll auction to be safe, since I don't have a clue how to price since they look so beat up to me. There are tag holes too :-( But hey, at least I think the buttons are original. Which explains why they're both a perfect color match. I'm sure I'll use that tip again Beta, thanks so much to everyone!

An alterationist or someone with professional skills will replace buttons without any knotting but at that point it's impossible to tell, so I just say nothing at all unless there's some weird variance with the buttons (I've actually re-replaced home sewn buttons before to give that even finish). I agree, if it looks fine from the back, then just leave it alone, even if they don't seem 'Blue Fishy'. They are nice buttons.
Also, somewhat beat up Blue Fish is still definitely salable - I sold a coat with faded paint for a couple of hundred dollars. Agree with auction.
