Oh brother. Why can't they just let us sell stuff??? I don't need no stinkin' badges! I have enough repeat customers without all that fol-de-rol!!

Etsy would be better served getting the China crap and other mass produced stuff off the site.

Etsy would be better served getting the China crap and other mass produced stuff off the site. Agreed. I no longer shop on Etsy because its too much work to separate the actual handmade and the S**t.

And eBay is trying to follow Etsy's lead in having off-site ads - so far no extra charge but you know that's coming. If they slap a success penalty on us if we sell more than 10K a year that's it for me, I'll just pull most of my stuff off. I did that with Etsy when I found it sold just as well elsewhere without 17% fees and a crap search engine and Silverman's nonsense.

They do have the worst search--they invite spam and don't even bother to separate what you are actually looking for from the spam. Unbelievable and very difficult to shop there.

Any place that charges an insertion fee, no matter how small, is going to want people to list stuff. It doesn't matter if it's garbage, fakes, scams or the real item. It's all about that nickel.

I got caught with drop-shipped China stuff and one of my nieces bought her wedding dress there - a simple sort of Grecian affair which was purported to be made by the seller. She got it and it had a China label in it, and was sized so weirdly that it fit no one. My poor niece! Fortunately, we have a tailor and a dressmaker in the family and they managed to re-fit it and resewed, and in the end she looked really lovely. Apparently the 'maker' orders these things from China and sews her own label in. Sad to say that there are excellent China sellers there who offer their own designs made in their own workshop but get painted with the same brush. There are two I purchase from regularly and you can tell immediately that these are well tailored, well designed garments made with care. There is still awesome stuff there but man, do you have to tip toe.

That's exactly why I objected so strongly to the jacka$$ CEO who decided that factory made would be considered HANDMADE as long as a 'designer' designed the item. They're ALL about scalability; regular artists and craftspeople can't make enough product to satisfy corporate. Etsy's continued to go downhill since then. I think the only way to make money with Etsy these days is to be one of the shareholders reaping some profit from their money making schemes.

They're into acquisition now. I get that the site couldn't sustain itself with the model it had, but Silverman has gone way over into the other direction.

Well, no star for me this month I know I don't always reply as fast as I should but am sure I shipped everything within my 1-2 days as stated. That's probably on the PO for not scanning and/or me trusting that the packages I put in the blue box would get scanned in time. I definitely feel the old anxiety creeping back- sorta PTSD from the DSR & TRS nonsense we endured for several years.
