The message I get when something sells really threw me for a loop the first time I saw it. It reads:
Here's a shipping label for your sold item:
Yeah, I thought someone had created a label for an item I hadn't mailed yet and I started to freak out. Then I thought eBay was automatically generating them when an item sells, so I freaked out even more. Especially since 50% of my stuff goes First Class Letter rate (stamps) and the other stuff I print through Pirateship.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who was very confluzzed by this.

I have been getting that message for a little over a week now. At first it startled me but when I read it, I figured they were just changing up the Sold message with different wording.

I was startled at first, also. It sounds like the label is in the message ready for you to print.

I hope it doesn't mean that the next step for eBay IS to generate the label for the seller so all they have to do is print it.
You know eBay has to be losing money every time a seller uses a shipping service off of eBay.

I noticed it a couple of days ago. It's very poor wording. I, too, thought that eBay had generated a label and charged me for it. Why do they keep changing things that don't need to be changed?

Because they don't know how to fix what is broken.

Because they need to keep "upgrading" to keep their jobs.

I hope they don't start this. How would they know the exact weight of the item to even issue a label? I don't use calculated shipping. Many times I estimate a weight and it comes in under after it's packaged up. Or I need to go from FC to Priority because I miscalculated and the packed up item is a touch over from 15.9 to over a pound. Hope they aren't going to start using priority mail and eliminate FC just because they can.
They also are now taking my monthly store fee out of my sales, before it was charged to my CC on file. Just started this month with that BS. My labels still get charged to my CC, I think they want to control that too.

Its really not a big deal. Just all on one page. Item sold..Ready To Ship...Click button to print shipping label. Shipping label page is the same as before.

I don't have a problem not using Pirateship, although I have it come off my bank account debit card. My main thing is that 50-60% of my sales are from my 'cheap' CDs that I sent with stamps via First Class letter, so if we are forced to buy labels, I would lose that much of my business.

I think that I just deleted it without reading it.
What I hated was the temporary loss of "Ending a listing" in my hub. I lost that on both of my stores. But it is back now. I realize that it is now in the drop-down for orders, but I sold items on other sites, did a search in my store to find it, but then I didn't know how to end it.

Just ignore the shipping label button and look at it as a "Your item sold" email. I think they were just putting the Item Sold and the Shipping Label emails into one email.

I know it's just an item sold email. But the first time I saw it, I was very confused because I had not printed a shipping label. As Val said, we hope it's not an omen of things to come because that would pretty much kill my biz.

I'm still (as of this AM) getting the 'your item has sold' email. Thanks for the heads up.

I did too. But I did sell an item.

I think they're experimenting. I'd gotten the one that sounds like they already printed the label, but this morning got a message more like the old one about a sold item.

It's not just Ebay, I got a newly worded message from my library this AM, that is "Item Renewal" & is telling me my item FAILED to be renewed. The title used to be something like "Your item was not renewed". Now the title makes it seem like it was, but it wasn't. IDK why everyone feels the need to change up perfectly descriptive titles. But Ebay has been doing it for years. The old 'ended' messages used to change constantly & I remember once changed 3 times in 3 weeks rendering them basically useless.
