I have the weirdest item on earth & I cannot figure out how to wear it, much less photograph it. I'm not sure what it is, I think a poncho wrap of some sort. It's Soft Surroundings, no style #. It has a size L/XL. I've tried to create a diagram below, as it's not ez to get a photo of the whole thing.
Imagine a rectangular piece of fabric, that is folded in 1/2 lengthwise, so it's a long/narrow rectangle as shown in my diagram below. The bottom edge is completely CLOSED. It's not even a seam, it's just the folded over fabric. The top edge is closed on both sides, but open in the middle, like a neckhole & that's where the label is, so presumably that's where a head goes. Both sides are totally OPEN, as sleeves. I am lost. I'll post some pics in the next post in case that helps.

So it's a double layer of fabric, seems it started out as 1 piece, that was then doubled, you can see at the 'neck' what I mean. I don't even know what it's called to search & I've tried looking through old catalogs with no luck. I cannot figure out how to put it on. The 'neckhole' makes no sense b/c of the closed bottom. If I just put it over the shoulders like a scarf, then what's the point of the sleeves? We have struggled with figuring out this thing for going on 2 years. Thought I'd try it on my half form today, but we still can't figure it out. Anyone familiar with these?

Is it possible to get your arms through the sides so the fabric is only on the back with the tag aligned in the center? Kinda like an open bolero type wrap?

Put your arms through the top hole to get them to the sides - the rest of it goes on your back, nothing in front. This one is called a sweater shrug.

I had one like yours once- had me stumped but it sold as a shrug.

I'd call it a 'cocoon' shrug.

Yup, that's it, thank you staytuned & Desire (who put it into the words that made sense to my brain). I guess that's how it works, but it feels really weird to me. It's what I tried on my 1/2 form but b/c she doesn't have arms, it didn't really work on her right & I started questioning myself. I was able (barely) to get it on me that way, but it looks nothing like it does in the pic here. That may be b/c of all the weight I've gained. It's flowy in the back but there's really nothing in front. It would drive me crazy to wear. On the plus side, I woke up with my left hand all tingly & my left arm weird (no, not having a heart attack - I get this sometimes) & hopefully contorting to get into this thing unpinched whatever nerve is pinched LOL. Thank you everyone!

As an aside (from a guy's perspective), what a ridiculous design LOL Sorry, I just look at it and think "let me put my arms in this head hole, so I can have this rest on my shoulders and flow down my back like a cape". I feel like it would always be slipping off your shoulders...

I feel like it would always be slipping off your shoulders... That's probably why it's called a "shrug". You have to keep shrugging to keep it on.

That's why neither DH or I (both IT people) could figure out WTF.

It's all in the fit, and attitude of the wearer.
