DH just sent me a "what is this bulls**t" showing a sold listing for 2 small sets of football cards. Ebay "congrats" notice shows buyer paid price for cards and shipping at only 71¢ instead of the $4 first class shipping shown in the listing. It's costing him $3.03 to pay for the label. Any idea what happened?

Could you post a link to the listing?

I see a shipping charge of $4.15.
I know that, years ago, eBay used to have a way to allow buyers to edit the shipping charge, but I don't think that has been available for long time.
Is it possible that the buyer did a checkout with another seller's items and eBay somehow combined the shipping?
Have you tried contacting eBay?

Any idea what happened? eBay now has trackable shipping for cards under $20.00 that only cost about 71 cents. Is your DH the seller? He should have the option to print the label through eBay called eBay Standard Envelope. I'm guessing eBay automatically passed along that cost to the buyer. pages.ebay.com/ebaystandardenvelope/index.htmlHowever, looking at that listing, it should not have so I'm guessing it was a glitch, since those would not have qualified for standard envelope.

That is horrible. WTF would eBay intervene on your decision on how to best ship an item. I surely would call them or contact them and make them eat it.

Thanks, all, for your replies, which I passed on to DH. He's updated all his 3oz listings to 4oz to prevent that from happening again. Apparently, he had no choice printing label to the cheap rate.
Good thing I save ecommercebytes emails and sent him the one about the new cheap shipping on cards. Maybe now he'll sign up himself to read up on ebay changes.
