I am having a serious brain fart today. What do you call this top? It is pullover, kangaroo pocket in front, hooded.

I had a hunch it had something to do with "Mexican" and a bunch of them popped up on Google as "Mexican Baja Pullover". There's probably a better name so hang on for others.

The pocket in the front is for your stash, and somehow it stuck.
If it's woven from wool that cloth is called 'jerga' - a coarse woven that's a bit of a melange. I find a lot made from heavy cotton, though (Senor Lopez, etc.).

The "rug" part is because the fabric looks a lot like the cheapo Mexican blankets you use when the upholstery on your truck seats dies.
We called them "surfer hoodies".

Funny, but I was watching, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" yesterday and Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) wore one to class and immediately thought of this thread. That movie is an 80s blast from the past.
