Wonder if it imparts its own odor, which is sometimes nasty.

Wonder if it imparts its own odor, which is sometimes nasty. It says it doesn't. It's expensive to try if it doesn't work but I'd be willing to spend the money if I know for sure it will. I wrote them to ask if there is a way to use their product for dry clean only items. If they have a way, I will give it a try.

I finally received it and tried it today. I am very pleased with it. I used it on a hand wash, hang dry COOGI dress and a dry clean only Spenser Alexis rayon top. Both had a perfume smell, and I think the Spenser Alexis top also had a bit of mildew/mold smell to it. The Spenser Alexis top fit me, and I really like it, but there was no way I could wear it the way it was so I figured what the heck.
I am pretty sensitive to smells, especially perfume, and I do not detect any perfume smell, but there is a very, very slight smell--not unpleasant but still there. There was a ton of dry cleaning fluid that came out of the SA top so it may have something to do with the smell. I did not run them through an entire cycle, either, so that may have something to do with it. Basically they soaked for a few minutes, and then I pulled the SA top out and rinsed it myself and used a towel to absorb the water. It also said to use warm water, which I did not do.
I ordered it off of Amazon because the Odorklenz site said it would be mid January before it would ship, and Amazon said a week or so, but I'm pretty sure it came direct from Odorklenz because it took longer than Amazon estimated. I don't remember what the difference in price was. It is pricy, but since I will only use it on things with a perfume smell, I think it's a good investment. I order tops off ebay for myself, and there have been several times when they arrived with a perfume smell so I am glad to have something that will work on them.

I went to their website. Which product did you use? The liquid laundry additive is out of stock, the powder version is available. They also have a sports laundry additive in both liquid and powder form.

somany - Thanks for the test report! How did the Susan Anthony top fare after the treatment? Will you have to send it out for dry cleaning again or can you just iron and wear?

It is Spenser Alexis, and I haven't decided about it. The wrinkles are all vertical so I may be able to steam them out, but the rayon seems more pliable now and steaming won't help that. It does have a tone on tone print that makes the wrinkles not as noticeable, but I think it may wrinkle more when worn. I may try ironing on the reverse size using sizing spray. I don't think I would sell it, but to wear it, I first have to have someplace to go that requires a bit dressier top, so for now it will probably just stay in the closet.

Thank you for the information and test report, somany. Like you, I do not want perfume on my clothes. I can't wear it because it makes me sneeze and have a runny nose and/or a headache.

Right - don't know where I got 'Susan Anthony' - at any rate, the Spencer Alexis tops I've handled have rayon crepe in them or partially in them, which is notorious for shrinking if washed. I once shrunk a favourite summer dress washing it when I had always washed rayon - but this was crepe. Bleh.
