Is it okay to sell books that were advance copies and say not for sale?

From everything I can find there is no specific law that states you cannot sell them. The only thing that I find is that publishers and authors would rather not have them sold as they were given away and no one made any money off them. Also, I highly doubt the publisher is going to try to search down every listing of an ARC, especially if the book is several years old.

Thanks. I've seen them listed on eBay but I wondered if there was any legal issue involved.
