I took a return, no case or anything. Buyer simply asked me & I did it & it all went smooth. I refunded her yesterday & did the cancellation. She must have ok'd it, as I just got a note from Ebay that says 'you've refunded the buyer, you're all set'.
Well, I'm not all set. The only reason I did the cancellation was to get my fees back. Does that happen automatically? There was no mention of it in EBay's note to me.

Check your sellers account. I've always had to call if I do a return without them opening a case, even if it didn't fit.
In fact, I have one right now, a 0 FB newbie who cancelled even before I shipped (ordered the wrong thing!). I explained that he would have to agree to the cancellation for me to get my fees back, but he never did. Now I have to wait 10 business days (according to the last CSR I spoke with) to call and get me fees back.
But when I've taken a return (for fit) through Ebay's returns, I got the fees credited right away as soon as I refunded.

The waiting 10 days is correct, if they don't agree. I've had that happen before, but it happens automatically at 10 days. I did check my sellers acct earlier, but i'll check agn now that some time has passed, thanks.

I wasn't sure if you had to call or of they refunded the fees automatically. Thanks!

Well, they used to, but def keep an eye on it! It's been awhile since I've had that situation.
I just checked my situation & no fee refund, so I guess I'll have to call.

zoe, I did a return outside of the Ebay system a few weeks ago and the buyer agreed to the cancel transaction immediately. I waited several days because I read something, somewhere on the site that it could take up to 72 hours after a cancellation for the FVF refund to show on your account. I ended up calling. After putting me on hold several times, the rep told me it should show up within the next 30 days. I was like, um, no. I told her by that time I would've already had to pay my invoice and I didn't want to pay this fee. After several more holds where I could see someone in San Jose looking at the item through my Inkfrog spy, she finally told me that she did a manual refund and it "should" show up within 24 hours. It did.

I've cancelled a couple of times, with the buyer agreeing and it credited my fees back. It showed in the little note that my fees had been refunded. One took about 24 hours to actually show up on my account but they did.
