I've always offered a discount for multiple purchases and include a
blurb about it in my description. Often times a buyer will purchase
and pay separately and then ask for a s/h adjustment afterwards.
Other times a buyer will pay for all the items at one time, but does
not wait for a corrected invoice to be sent, so I will refund the extra.
And then sometimes, a buyer will purchase several items, and
request a total prior to sending payment.
In light of the fact that PayPal no longer refunds us the fees on
refunds (and that I sell pretty much only low $$ items), I really do
not want to continue to take a hit in this area, so I'm looking for
what I can put in my TOS that will help eliminate the refunding.
So the following are variations of what I have been using:
Combined shipping is available for multiple items and is based on actual package weight.
Please wait for an adjusted invoice before making payment on multiple purchases.
Combined shipping on multiple items is available and is based on package weight.
When purchasing more than one item, please wait for an adjusted invoice prior to payment.
Combined shipping is available for multiple items and is based on actual package weight.
Please wait for an adjusted invoice for the best discounted shipping rate.
As compliance is not happening like I wish, I've been considering what
other wording I can use to get more buyers to wait for the new invoice.
I'm thinking of using this:
Combined shipping is available for multiple items and is based on package weight.
To receive a combined shipping discount when purchasing more than one item,
please wait for an adjusted invoice before sending payment as NO refunds will be sent.
I do use bold for these in my description, but not a different color. Will the
language choice be off putting to a buyer? I do appreciate buyers who buy
more than one item and I know there will always be those buyers who don't
read. Between pricing my stuff low to get it out of here, sending offers on
any listing that eBay lets me, and the raising of fees charged on sales, it
won't be long before I would probably just be better off donating everything.
I really don't want to do that though, as eBay gives me something to do to
help keep me occupied (so my mind doesn't constantly drift into worrying
about my future) and I'm trying to have some $$ put aside for our five
grandkids college education - a legacy of sorts.
I'm open to any and all suggestions on how to not give away any
bigger of a piece of the pie than I absolutely have to.
Edited to add, I do pass some of the shipping discount I receive
for being a TRS to the buyer, so I don't have that cushion to
draw from.
