I'm late, and no apologies today. I went to bed early intending to arise early, but my body revolted and forced me to turn off the alarm clock. So I slept in. It was nice, guess I needed the sleep. Anytime that happens, if I look back at the previous week (or even longer!), I see that I was going to bed late, getting up early, and eating junk food. All bad habits. Are you guilty of treating yourself badly? If you are, consider making a promise to yourself today that you'll be nicer to yourself. There's only one of you, so be good to you!

See, here's where I'm confused. I thought eating junk food was being nice to myself. It sure feels/tastes like being nice, at least while I'm eating it.
I'm at the airport in Hartford waiting for my flight to Chicago. Speaking of junk food. Just downed a sloppy slice of meat lover's pizza as well as a Snickers double bar. Yum. Must feed myself as once you get on that plane, you never know when you'll get your next meal. Southwest, so I should get some peanuts or pretzels. Something about flying makes me desperately hungry. I think it has to do with boredom.
Pleasantly surprised that there's free wifi here at the airport. There wasn't when I flew last summer.

My guess is junk food in small quantities won't hurt, it's a daily diet of it that might do you in. Or at least make you very tired and grumpy.

I stayed up way too late last night watching the rest of season 1 of Orange is the New Black. I don't know why I do that. It's on Netflix, I can watch it whenever. Ugh! I ran errands today and started cleaning the kitchen. Now I'm too tired to make it upstairs to my ebay room to list. I'm laying on my comfy couch with my mastiff, Emma who is snuggling close and snoring so loud, I'm giggling. I went grocery shopping today and bought healthy snacks, fresh fruit and veggies, and spent too much money. Ack, I hate that food that's good for you costs more than unhealthy choices. But I'm determined to eat better. We're planning on growing fruit trees and a variety of berries along with our veggie garden this year. That'll save a few $ hopefully.

Hi everyone, Had a strange week. Starting with the pool co. wanting to overcharge on their estimate by $71. We were refunded the difference.
Speaking of $, when you trade in your car, and you have left over $ on the extended warranty, You get some $ back. Bought a car in Feb, and was due a sizeable amount. It took the dealership 8 weeks to refund. After going there 2 weeks in a row, and talking to the mgr.
The other day, received a BIN on an item without. They offered me 80 cents - Less! I kid you not.
Posted a scary ebayer on the bbl for April. I don't think he's a clothing buyer.
Been walking 2-1/2 miles 5 days a week. Yesterday, I was asked, "Are you still walking?". lol Must not look like I am. Oh well, I feel good, and the scale says I'm loosing.
Nice and warm here, 80's.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend! Jean

I don't eat as healthy as I should, I'm drawn to sugary foods. I try to be good and not beat myself up over bad days. I never beat myself up over sleeping in either. It's one the the perks of the job I have to take 2 Benedryl's 2 hours before I want to fall asleep or I'll be up until 4am every night.

Ironed new drapes for my bedroom, waiting for sheers to dry since I have to hem them.
Lots of standing and ironing and finally sitting down to list.
That PBS cancer special gave me a wake-up call. I know that the chemos can eventually quit working so what else can I do to help myself??? Duh-lose weight and eat even better than I have been. Fat and sugar feed cancer. Carbs make me fat.
The only safe thing to eat would be organic veggies....and they will come from my garden. Will eat the other stuff in moderation, as that is the key.
Besides that, my friend is getting married in May and nothing fits me anymore!!!

I am not being at all sarcastic when I ask if all of you eating healthy actually enjoy what you eat. I mean do you really like all those vegetables or do you eat them because you feel you should?
I know people who genuinely like all that good for you stuff and people who only eat it because it's healthy.
Inquiring minds want to know.

I love veggies. In fact I like almost everything but prunes and tofu.
I have always been a healthy eater and was not overweight until I got hit with BC and had to eat carbs for the nausea.
But I would really love to be able to eat hamburgers and french fries....and hot fudge sundaes....and ribs....sigh.
But even as a teen I was eating plain unflavored yogurt mixed with wheat germ and a few strawberries....ugh.

I know people who genuinely like all that good for you stuff and people who only eat it because it's healthy. Inquiring minds want to know. I don't eat healthy but I like to. Well, not uber healthy but healthier than I do. I'd rather have a good breakfast and lunch, and snack (veggies, nuts, cheese, fruit) the rest of the day. I'd rather have a decent meal - protein, veggies, etc. over junk. My problem is I won't take the time to fix food ahead of time and have it ready. Which means on weekdays after I've worked at an office all day, I go thru the drive thru because I don't want to cook when I get home. Now that it's warm and I can grill, I need to start grilling enough on Sunday so that all I have to do at night for the week is add a salad and tada! Dinner! I don't mind giving up junk for real food, if I take the time to make the real food convenient. The only junk food I refuse to give up is ice cream.

That is what I do during the summer or on a relatively warm day the rest of the year.
I grill a bunch at once to eat during the week.

It would probably help if I bought a charcoal grill this year. The Foreman grill is handy but it's just not the same as real outside grilled food.

It definitely is not the same.
I have one of those "stand on the floor and pretend you are a real grill" George Forman grills and I used it over the winter before last.
Then last summer I bought a new charcoal grill and I have never gone back to George.
