I just signed up for Mercari and haven't listed anything there yet. If you sell something there, do you get a text, email, or some sort of notification that something has sold?

You'll get an email or you check the site. Mercari was super slow for me so I just waited for any emails to pop in as I didn't list daily.

If you have the app they will alert you about anything and everything any chance they can. All day long.

They wouldn't let me do anything until I had the app on my phone. It took up almost the last bit of storage I had. I'm going to need a new phone soon, just stalling because I really like this one.

My phone is always almost out of memory - I've gotten rid of all the apps I'll never use that I can, but will probably need to root it soon and get rid of the crap baked in there. I really like my phone, too, and don't want another one. I have about five selling apps on there.

The girl at the T-Mobile store told me "once it's on there, it's on for good". I thought she said that so I would buy a new phone. I figured out how to uninstall a few apps that I had put on and how to clear cache to get more space, but I'm still running low.

So far I'm doing the same as you, just keeping excess stuff off there, not keeping photos, etc.

I kind of like Mercari but not as a main site. I started selling a few weks ago and have made a couple good sales. I noticed buyers like sending offers, some low ball. You get paid fast though, not like Tradesy, and without all the fees. Also C/S is beyond horrible!
Can someone explain how to get the shipping badge? I have shipped next day on every order, but still no badge.

Yes, you get an email notification....as others have said. I turned off my notifications for Mercari and Posh. I just check my email a lot.

One thing that I recently learned...If you want to delete the items that have sold on other sites and you deactivated them...you have to use your cell, go to your profile and click on "selling". Then you can see all of your items and also the deactivated ones. Then you can delete the item.
Cookie-I have a shipping badge, but no idea when I got it.

I've been able to delete anything I need to on my PC. Just do it from your listings screen.

They show up on mine as 'inactive' under 'my listings'.

They show up on mine as 'inactive' under 'my listings'. So you click on your listings, and see all of the pics of the items...it is under there? Mine show the items and that is all. I can see the items that sold on Mercari, but not the others. I am on Windows 10 Edge.

I made a Mercari sale this morning, and my cell ca-chinged like it does for eBay. Also got an email notification. I have the other notifications turned off, except for the sales.

Mercari --> My profile -->My listings (Listing) Thanks! I finally found it on my PC. I was looking in the wrong place. They are listed singly, where on my cell, I have a gallery view. But at least I can find them now on both places.

Just got this in an email:
Sales Tax Policy
Beginning October 1, 2019, Mercari will start collecting, reporting, and remitting sales tax on behalf of our sellers in the 34 marketplace states listed below.
This change is necessary to comply with updated tax laws that require marketplaces like Mercari to collect sales tax on behalf of sellers.
All you need to do is update the app and we will collect, report, and remit the sales tax from our buyers on behalf of our sellers. Marketplace Facilitator Laws
Marketplace Facilitator laws require marketplaces like Mercari to calculate, collect, remit, and refund applicable sales tax on behalf of third-party sellers with respect to their sale transactions that are delivered to states where Marketplace Facilitator laws have been enacted.
This means that some buyers will start to see sales tax on their purchases. We’ll be remitting the taxes to the states on behalf of our sellers.
As a result, Mercari will now be responsible for sales tax collection in the following states: Alabama Iowa New York Texas Arizona Kentucky North Dakota Utah Arkansas Maine Ohio Vermont California Maryland Oklahoma Virginia Colorado Massachusetts Pennsylvania Washington Connecticut Nebraska Rhode Island West Virginia District of Columbia Nevada South Carolina Wisconsin Idaho New Jersey South Dakota Wyoming Indiana New Mexico
We expect that additional states will mandate marketplace taxes in the future. We will let you know when these changes happen.

LOL!! I wondered when they'd cave in and start collecting. They kept claiming they were not a marketplace. However, their TOS clearly defined them as a marketplace. I know they were reported to several state tax departments, too.

That pretty much will axe my listing on Mecari - I was using its non-collection of tax as a bit of an 'edge', but dealing with it is more than I want to do (selling on four or five marketplaces - I'm only part-time now).

I’m glad. I don’t list on there often, but I’ll be happy to no longer have to deal with collecting for CA. My sales tax paid on inventory has been deductible from what I remit from what I’ve collected. I’m curious to see how that works now.
