So, what are your Easter plans?
I'm going to the Tenebrae service Friday night, and then service Sunday morning. Then we're hitting the flea market. No big dinner or anything.
When my father passed a few years ago, our family literally broke up. It was ugly. It concerned money, property, family relations, defamation, taking advantage of the elderly, etc... just about everything that could happen, happened. My sister and I did as much damage control as we could, but it wasn't enough. Apologies, corrections, never happened.
I refuse to subject my husband and girls to the mess. My sister and I talk and are still close, but many family members are not speaking.
So any services, egg hunts in the future?

What is a "Tenebrae" service?
No plans, just doing eBay stuff.

Going with a few other old ladies to a champagne brunch at a big hotel here. They put on a really nice spread and we always have a good time. No family dynamics to deal with means a peaceful holiday.

Most likely yard work in the front yard. That is all I do this time of ear.
Probably fire up the BBQ because that is all I do this time of year too.

What is a "Tenebrae" service? No plans, just doing eBay stuff. It's a somber service that represents the sorrow felt during Jesus's last days and when he died. Our church will have different members reading and the candle lights will be extinguished as it goes on. We'll leave in the dark. And then of course the Sunday service will bring the light back. For me it's a reminder of what Easter means. That said - I'm not against the eggs, and the fun stuff for children. I feel that even though it really doesn't relate, it's enjoying life. I personally think a sense of humor and fun is important in life.

I googled it, it's an interesting practice. And a powerful message, I bet. I love going to an outside service on Easter. Not enough churches get out of the sanctuary and into the sunlight, and Easter is a good day to do that (assuming you live where weather cooperates). But alas, very few churches will do that

After church, we'll have a brunch type meal at home. My daughter's boyfriend will be joining us.

I'll attend a Good Friday service on Friday afternoon and then I'm flying to Chicago on Saturday and will take my Mom to Mass on Easter Sunday. First time I'll be away from my DH and my now adult kids for Easter, but there's a family celebration taking place on April 18 in Chicago anyway, so I thought it'd be nice to try and be there for Easter, as well. My father is 90 and, God willing, my mom will turn 90 this August, so each holiday is precious. After Mass, I'll have brunch with my siblings and parents down in the dining room of the place where my parents live.
Wishing you all a joyous and blessed Easter.

A nice big lunch with the family. Then....a long nap. Sounds like a great day to me.

No church since my immunities are too low.
Older DD will probably stay home and be drunk.
Younger/normal DD will take my grandson to exhole's galpal's house for dinner and egg hunt. She will invite other kids, too.
Sometime this weekend grandson will come here for egg hunt, but no dinner.
So Easter will be spent right here on my computer.

If he's feeling up to it, I'm hoping to take my sweetie out to the bayfront in the early AM so he can meet up with his old buddy. His friend lives on a boat but comes in for coffee every morning at this nifty old place on the water. They haven't seen each other in quite a while & DH has been talking about it. I'm not working that day & I'd like that too-haven't been outside much at all lately & it's really nice there.
Then to just go to church & be at home later would make for a pretty nice day to me.
Don't know about dinner. We've both been craving jumbo shrimp but who knows...something will fall out of the oven at some point. (but I'd love to make lemon squares-another recent craving)
Hope everyone here enjoys the day & has a very Happy Easter, whatever you choose to do!

Lemon squares are one of my all-time favorites, but for some reason, I've never made them. That's probably a good thing. I LOL'd at "something will fall out of the oven at some point"

Saturday, the kids get to color some eggs and make cupcakes to bring to my MIL house for Easter.
On Sunday, we are going to a church service in the morning. Then to my MIL house for an egg hunt. Then dinner at her house. She says if it's nice outside, steak on the grill.

"something will fall out of the oven at some point"... My new favorite saying!!!
Everyone in my family has to work part or all of the day on Easter, so I am just making a ham and some pieroghi and they can drop by on their way home and pick some up "to go". Hopefully the weather cooperates and DH and I can spend some time outside, maybe pick up all of the sticks in the yard and have a campfire.

I'm not big on ham, and we didn't get a turkey breast this year so dinner is a toss. Though sunset just gave me a great idea for a pierogi feast...if we don't eat out.

We'll probably be going to the cemetery and have a nice ham dinner. My FIL died in a car accident 5 years ago on Easter morning. He, his wife, and her father were on their way to church.
Since the accident, we've kept the holiday low key. A day to remember the good times and relax.

Been so busy the last few weeks I haven't done my usual amount of Easter Grammy Tacky decorating or planned dinner for our celebration and egg hunt tomorrow. As soon as DH gets ready we are heading to Costco and grab some of their ready made stuff and put together something. I'll probably pick up one of their hams also. I think they have the best ham in town and their ready made items are always great.

Happy Easter Everyone!
I have the house clean and ready. I still need to do the ham on Sunday.
I'm hoping to mulch the front flower beds before people show up, but who knows if it will happen.

We are getting together with a bunch of friends who are alone for the holidays and having a group barbecue. Everyone is bringing something so I am bringing chocolate covered strawberries and some wine coolers

I'm the only one in the family who goes to church because I prefer the sunrise service and they prefer to sleep in if it's not a work or school day. The 4 of us who are home did some yard work. Didn't take long with that many hands. We're having a fairly light, for us, (and for a holiday), dinner. Ham, roasted broccoli, hash brown casserole, rolls and a berry pie. I have all of it done, or at least assembled, but the broccoli.

Just hiked Merkle Trail at Usery Pass, now getting ready to go to bf's cousins on the other side of town. Oh when we were halfway to the top some people coming down said they saw a rattlesnake near the top. I kind of wanted to turn back around but we kept going. We didn't see anything but a bunch of lizards and a few squirrels. Happy Easter all
