I had my first sale the other day. It was new with tag but a big ole floppy hat. So I packed it super carefully in a box (sorry, poshmark, no tissue, ribbons or thank you note) and got it off the next day after payment. Buyer left me a wonderful review.
So I thought: gee, let me see what it is like as a buyer.
Thursday morning, buy white blouse for work. Listing said it was without flaws and in good condition. The seller is nearby so I hoped they would ship next day. Nope. Oh, well, not to be expected. No shipping notice on Saturday. I don't usually ship on Saturday myself so fine. On Monday, Poshmark sends me a note saying they are reminding the seller to ship item. Fine. Not worried. Seller ships on Tuesday and I get it today. Yea! I live just outside NYC so win-win. Until I open the package.
The white shirt is dingy. The yellow around the collar was pronounced. Ugh. Well, Oxiclean. Stain on the cuff which looks permanent. Drat, well, not too bad. Wish he would have told me. Try it on. Too small over the girls. Hmmm, check measurements. 22" across per listing. Measure: 20.5" across. Opps! Recheck and the best one might get is 20.75. Now you might think, pfffftt, what does 2.5" to 3" matter? It matters a lot in a woven cotton blouse! Then I found more stains and a hole. Gah! If the seller had said the bust was 41", I wouldn't have bought it! If he had said it is 44" but has a hole (albeit small) and 4 stains, well, I might have bought it but made an offer rather than buying it outright. So, my first purchase and I've filed a case.
So I thought, well, might get a credit to buy something else if the case is approved so I start to look around. Find a suitable candidate. Someone asked in January what the measurements were. No response. So I asked tongiht. Probably will not get a response. If I just buy, will they ship? Who knows? Is it worth the risk? Probably not.
Are sellers more loosey goosey on Poshmark?

I haven't bought much but what I have bought has been shipped fairly quickly. The only issue I have is no one seems to know how to measure. I had asked for measurements on 3 different things and all responded with larger-than-what-I-needed measurements, but when I tried them on they were all way too small. I rechecked the measurements and they were all way off. I relisted them on Posh and Ebay but no one except me seems interested.

I have had no problems with my purchases, TG. Home-that is ridiculous.

I'm sorry you had a bad first experience - I've been happy with all of my purchases (I buy way too much there - much more than ebay), but I agree about the measurements - I have a $150 jacket that I can't wear because the nice seller measured an inch off in the shoulders - I didn't file because I'm a hard fit through there. I'll just reposh. But it was wrapped beautifully and in gorgeous, as-described condition.
ETA: What is the closet? I don't want to purchase from them and as off-chance as that sounds, you'd be amazed at how much coincidence there is.

Her ID is : quinnjonesss My original thought when initially purchased was: if it didn't fit, reposh. I did get a good deal on it. Then it arrived. One or two small flaws I could live with. But trying to resell it with all those issues (especially the stains on the shoulders) would have been tough. If they deny the claim, I'll just have to try and mitigate the stains. The hole really is tiny and right by the tag so not too noticeable when worn. I was surprised that she took a pic of the tag but not quite enough to see the hole just to the left. Intentional or overlooked? Who knows?

My first purchase was a no-show; the seller never shipped the package so Posh refunded my money. That was when I needed a purchase to complete my ambassador requirements so it was annoying. My 2nd purchase was too small but I knew it was a crapshoot anyway in spite of the given bust measurements since it was a French garment marked large. I'll rePosh it towards Fall.
You/we have to remember that most of the Poshers seem to be rather casual sellers with minimal description and no measurements given. And there's no repercussions for not being accurate. We're all professionals that have dealt with accurate measurements etc for years OR ELSE. And yet as a seller I have a return on its way for a bad measurement. The email I got from Posh regarding the return chided me for no marked size or measurements in the listing yet both WERE included. So even management is lax about details. But I'm happier selling there than I have been on eBay for years so it's all good.

Poshmark approved my return but gave me a short window to get it in the postal system (48 hours). What this says to me is, as a seller, no goofballs asked for a return 2 weeks later and then sitting on the item for another week. I remember watching a phoney SNAD case so I could close it out right after it timed out at 7 days. She printed a label on the 7th day. Dayum! At any rate, I'll be shipping it back tomorrow and making SURE it is scanned in!

@quinnjonesss is a pretty big seller - over 3000 items. I wonder if the quality control is, well, out of control.

Quick question...is bundling only within one seller's closet or is it any seller? I haven't tried it yet but I was wondering about the combined shipping aspect if it is an all seller bundling. Thanks

Pretty sure it's only within one seller's closet. I've only had one bundle with 3 items so far. The rest of the so-called bundles have been one item, which I ignore. I notice sellers with signs saying offers are welcome and others that encourage bundling. Do you all have signs like that?

Post by denise15601 on Jun 28, 2019 18:47:16 GMT
I don't have any kind of sign. And it is only per seller. Right now I have a bundle with one pair of shoes. So I lowered the price, and probably won't hear from them again.
Be sure to remember to check the "likes" and then lower the price a bit. I lower it for the liker and then do a public lowering. So the liker will see that her price is lower than the public price
I do that for Mercari too.

I've shipped out quite a few bundles anywhere up to 9 items and they seem to be either niche or several sizes (Maybe a group of people. None lately though but sales are slow right now and I think tax collection is making people think twice Posh needs a 1st class tier.

Thanks all. I sort of thought one closet but I was crossing fingers for multiple, lol. And yes to the first class shipping option.

Posh really needs a FC shipping option. I won't do FS, though. I am amazed at how many sales I get for a 4 ounce kid's item with the high Priority shipping amount.

The listing number shows total listings, not just actives. For example, I’m down to 431 actives after vacation, but my total listing number shows as 4047. I can see how the buyer perception could question quality with that point.

Home, you can’t delete sold items from Poshmark. The only way they disappear is if your account is suspended or the item was found to be non compliant or replica after purchase.

I've really slacked on Posh in the last few months, am trying to get back in the swing. I sent out private offers on everything in my closet Saturday and had 9 sales! Also, I've been trying to list more cheapie things to encourage buyers to bundle, since the shipping is so high. Some sellers have a bunch of "free with bundle" items, which seems like a good way to clear out old merch.

I've only made one purchase on Poshmark, and that was for a North Face purse. Seller was supposed to ship within 3 business days. It took her over a week before she shipped. I got zero communication from her. Received in a regular P.O. mailer with the purse folded in half. No note, nada. I figured if she couldn't take the time to at least thank me for purchase, she could wait until Poshmark paid her when it timed out.
I did get something a couple weeks later about reviewing my purchase and I let them know I was not happy about the experience.
I agree that there needs to be a first class option, because I've found a few things I would have purchased, but I'm not paying $6.79 shipping.

I checked her closet and she had loads and loads available - pages and pages, so that made me think that she is just listing really fast - I should have mentioned that because I know that Posh counts everything. I'm not sure what general perception is, as I made a special effort to try to see how much she had available (it only took a few minutes) when as a buyer I normally don't worry about it. I have like 540 listings showing but have sold about 300 of those and of that which is left, have only about 80-90 that are in season and that I'm bothering to share, maybe another 50 beyond that.
So I wouldn't start a new closet - I think your record is important to keep.

I agree that there needs to be a first class option, because I've found a few things I would have purchased, but I'm not paying $6.79 shipping. Two really good take-aways for me in your post. One: Say Thank You to the customer. eBay has me so ingrained to NOT communicate with the customer, I forget that is a big part of it and something I use to do. The first (and only) Poshmark order I sold, I just boxed it up and shipped it the next day. She did leave me a very nice love note. I only had half a dozen new listings so she must have been kind to a newbie. I'll remember to post a love note or whatever when I ship my next Posh sale if I ever get one! Two: Completely agree with the $6.79 turn off for lightweight items. However, what a great deal on heavy things! I did make a second purchase for some rather heavy shoes so not a problem paying the $6.79 In fact, coats are going to be on my September list to sell on Posh! To be fair, if I was Posh corporate, I'd probably mandate Priority shipping, too. All the things you say with a buyer's hat on, I agree with.

Sage advice. It's taken me some time to figure out the difference between listings and active. Posh could do better with their website. I find it hard to see what a seller has that I might be interested in as a bundle Bundles do seem to be a very good idea from a buyer's perspective.

We were talking about tiered shipping on the Posh subreddit, and one poster had some very good reasons for leaving it the way it was - one being bundles - how would the site handle that? The other being that a lot of poshers are casual sellers, and having to weigh things means having to purchase a scale - no big deal for us, but someone who just sells here and there, it's another gadget to find room for. The simplicity of just one flat shipping rate is just easier, and the site really goes for simplicity.
But the shipping plus tax - for a $30 item in my area of Washington, that's an extra $10 to have to factor in. Granted, people will get used to the tax in time since it will be everywhere, but for a light item it feels like a lot. OTOH, someone bundled 3 items that weighed just under 5 lb and I shipped it out the other day - $6.95 or whatever shipping instead of $17.05 large flat rate - you just can't beat that!

It does encourage bundling. Excellent points. And true about Posh sellers who don't have a scale. Really, $6.79 isn't too bad in the big scheme of things IMHO.
