I have to ship that little stove today. USPS/Shipsave only insures up to $1000, same with Insurepost. Any suggestions of other insurance? I'm just insuring from Portland to Pasadena; then their shipper has the package and I assume it's their responsibility from Cali to Japan since the buyer chose to use them.

I googled & found this: about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2007/html/pb22218/kit1_011.htmlIt says for values from $300-$5000 insurance is $4.60 for the first $300, then for each $100 or partial $100 (in other words, round up, so your total value would be $1,800) multiply by $0.90. So yours would be $4.60 + ($0.90 x 15)= $4.60 + $13.50 = $18.10. I'm guessing you'd have to go to a post office.

The buyer had already selected a PFRE and sig confirmation. I HATE that they're saying 3 day delivery- more time in transit is more time for problems- so I'm definitely getting insurance for the package.

I'd copy the info from that usps page online as the postal clerks may not know what to do.
Also you can upgrade the postage method and not charge the buyer.

I would only ship USPS Priority Express or whatever is the term for Express Mail. Insure it. Make sure USPS does not waive the signature. Make sure buyer knows you are claiming full value. if it is going to a forwarding service I would still do Express insured. Signature required.
