I pulled up Poshmark to begin sharing and saw an Everything Plus Size Party. I have a few plus size things listed, and I had seen the choice to share to a party or to my followers, so I chose the party. Is that all there is to it? I tried scrolling through the items in the party, but there are tons and I haven't found mine so I was just wondering.

Yes, that's all there is to it. You don't have to bother with parties, as they are pretty much a reminiscent of the past, when Posh was small and wasn't constant share-storm. You won't see your item there, because thousands of people are sharing their stuff at any given second. Parties are useless. They would make sense if each seller was allowed to only share a few items (say, 3), when it really would be a showcase of the best, not just anything and everything.

Geez I didn't realize- here I've been so diligent, accepted an invitation to a.menswear sellers group and making sure I'm around to share to various parties. I can see how the effectiveness might be diluted.

You can write to the hosts and ask them to check out your closet. I have done that and have had host picks chosen, but never sold anything that way.
I don't really know how beneficial it is.

Parties are a great way to do some mass sharing if you're trying to get your stats up. And you can do some reciprocal sharing if you notice someone sharing a bunch of your party stuff if you're watching your 'news' numbers. But I don't go out of my way for the parties unless I'm already on Posh doing something else.

One thing I noticed after the party is that I had several (at least half a dozen) followers who have no listings. I don't think I had had even one in the 4-5 days I've been doing this before the party. To me that means they are real, potential buyers and not just other sellers. I'd rather have half a dozen of those than 100 sellers so I will probably participate in as many parties as I can from now on.
ETA, I also had a rash of people following me after it. I don't know if it was that or just the week-end that caused it. But...yesterday the number of my followers and the number of ones I'm following were pretty close together. Now, after following a ton last night and this morning, my number I am following is 300 more than those following me (1100 vs 1400). The thing is I would have said that I have only followed maybe 100 that were not ones that had already followed me. That would mean some people follow you, and then after you follow them, they unfollow you. Would that make any sense and does anyone know if it does happen and what would be their reasoning?

I can't imagine going through and unfollowing, since the name of the game is the high number of followers and shares. Some sellers have a ton of followers, but very few that they are following. I think that you just gained a lot of followers from participating in the party. And if you check the "likes", you will see that most of them liked whatever you posted to the party.

I get "bursts" of those throughout the day. Every Posh Ambassador is on rotation to be automatically added to brand new Posher's followers, I don't think it has something do to with parties.

I'm so lame - I don't keep track of any of this - mostly I just look at the number and go "Oh, look!", though I DID keep track after the celebrity closets open and I follow and unfollow and follow again. Someone on Reddit suggested that - OTOH, I'm becoming skeptical of these truisms promulgated on forums. When it comes to some commonsense stuff I can decide if I think it's true or not, but others I don't know enough about the site and how it works to sort out truth from assumption or somebody's oddball theory and I end up making mistakes. But in this case I DID get a boost in followers. kat was saying that it's kind of an ego trip there to have lots of followers, but you follow very few, and some unfollow after they get that follower. I agree with somany that getting lots of buyers following you is the real money, and if that happens with parties, then I'll stick with it - I just won't go out of my way anymore, but I do share several times a day so if a party is going on that I can participate in, I'll jump on that.

I don’t think the follower>following is that common on Poshmark, just a carry over from Instagram or Twitter. You’re right though, that no matter where it’s done it’s for an ego trip. I have seen people looking for a VA to do unfollows for them on Poshmark, which is so stupid. It’s not a site for influencers, it’s for making money.

I do see people with a bazillion followers and they follow like 200 people. I can see that being a carry-over from IG now that you mention it. I'm on IG very little but I read enough about it to see the influencer culture and Posh definitely isn't that. One reason I like it - it's to make money without a lot of extraneous rubbish. Part of the disparity I'm sure are the closet owners really working social media hard
