Hootie has a new favorite sleeping spot: Guess I'll wait a bit before I hang the wall decore in the boxes.

Hootie looks so cute, love it when they sleep with their heads all cockeyed like that.

I haven't had a cat for about 25 years. My DD has two and I love and they love me. But here is the problem. My other cats were outdoor cats. I had a little box in the basement that they used. At that time I was in good enough shape to be running up and down the steps cleaning the box.
I did end of losing one to a neighbor's poison and the other went out on Christmas Eve and never returned. So now I'm leary about letting it outside.
But I hate litter boxes in the house as I am a clean freak. Suggestions?

That's where I'm at, I have a serious aversion to little boxes and the cat hair would send me over the edge. I'm a messy ebayer so there's always stuff all over my floors so they need to be clean and hair free.
About a month ago I was leaving a GW when some people walked in with a bunch of stuff to donate, some of it was inside a kitty litter pan that still had kitty litter caked to he sides. I just about died, it was a great reminder to not get lazy and wash everything that's washable.

1. Scoop daily, no smell. 2. Litter mat in front of litter box helps reduce (and sometimes eliminate) litter tracking. 3. Brush cat daily - only takes a few seconds and significantly reduces cat hair shedding. 4. Keep eBay clothes in totes or hanging up - cat's territory is on the floor, so clothes go elsewhere. And finally…. 5. Daily cat purr is worth having to vacuum a little more often than when I was petless.

LOL Don't know if "better" is the right word. More like a softie when it comes to cats.
I would love to have a litter free, cat hair free house but I gave up on that plan about 15 years ago. I still think about it but its never going to happen so I just deal with it.
I never was a very good housekeeper anyway so now I don't fret about it.

No better is the right word I think a cute little shedless doggy that pee's/poops outside would be a better fit for me overall. Bless all of you loving and wonderful cat owners Bf and I are done (very very glad, not sad) so I won't be traveling as much. Been pondering a little friend but not sure that I'm ready yet. Why oh why do I have such commitment issues, that's the issue getting in the way.

Bliss, I am glad if the split with BF was what you wanted because you haven't sounded very happy in that relationship for a long time. Life is too short to spend any more time with jerks than is absolutely necessary. Now, get thyself to a shelter and save the life of a little shedless doggy that poops and pees outside.

I guess I was holding out hope that things would come around to the way I wanted but knew they never would so I enjoyed his friendship and travel and all the things that we did together but we couldn't any longer ignore the fact that we didn't want the same thing. I learned that he was enjoying someone else's or other people's female company which I suspected for a long time but didn't have proof. I finally found the proof I needed which made the decision much easier. HE would LOVE it if we could carry on like usual and him have his "fun" with other women. He is 49 years old, isn't that called "sowing your wild oats", at his age shouldn't he be done doing that? Ugh. Anyway, I've talked to some of his family (he's got some fabulous sisters and female cousins), his 49th b-day is tomorrow and everyone thinks he's having his mid life crisis.

Ohhhh pleeeaze. Sowing wild oats, my butt. He is a freaking dog with no respect for how good you were as a friend and more.
Of course he would love to keep you and have his fun on the side. Because he is a freaking dog.
You are better off without that negativity in your life.
Mid life crisis, my azz. He is a freaking dog.

lol!! Yes, consideration for my feelings was lacking from day 1. I pitty the next girl who falls for him, she will be young and probably dumb. He considers any woman over 35 to be too old for him. Oh I could go on but I need to shut up. I guess I dealt with it because some of his thoughts and ideas about things were so stupid and outlandish that I didn't think he could possibly be serious. Now I know he was... lol
time to change the subject back to kittens, puppies and unicorns.

Umm, even when a dog poops outside SOMEONE has to pick up the poop.
Any critter is going to poop, it's just part of the work of owning one.
But the love you get more then makes up for it.

I'd happily pick up little outside poops. I have a spot by my front door that has some weird clay tiles with dirt underneath. I'd have those pulled up and plant some grass, it would be the perfect spot for a quick tinkle or little poo.

Yes, I've never been so happy about a break up before. I felt it looming for quite a few years but have never been good break ups and apparently he either so it was good that I found what I found.

Yes, I've never been so happy about a break up before. I felt it looming for quite a few years but have never been good break ups and apparently he either so it was good that I found what I found. FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It took me way longer to change the bad, defensive habits I'd evolved over 20 years with my ex- than it ever did to get over him. The only thing keeping us together was our mountainbiking and theater going. I missed our MTB posse more than ever I missed him. He got married a few months after the divorce went through - I waited quite a while longer. In the last few years I've noticed that I was still practicing a very negative habit that I developed in my struggle to deal with him (MASTER manipulator) which my current husband is blessedly free of. Why it took me so long to see it was because it was SO ingrained by then. So, beware of that - it happens to all of us to one extent or another. I'm freeing myself of that and it's really awesome to feel my old strength and optimism coming back. I'm still pretty much a push-over but at least my current DH has a positive strong personality rather than a horribly negative one, and I've learnt not to let things get under my skin so much and dominate me from within. Oh yeah, and the current DH is NOT allergic to cats and dogs (my ex- was terribly allergic, though that wasn't his fault).
