Has anyone tried selling items on the Next Door website? I find it wildly profitable - no fees, no shipping. I average $500 per week.
My neighborhood in Orange County is super active.
It's much safer than Craig's List, et al, because you only sell to people in your "neighborhood", which is usually one subdivision. (There is also an option to sell to all the surrounding 'hoods - which I ALWAYS DO.) Next Door also requires that you use your real name. It's based on your address, which is verified by the website. People come to my address where I hand off the item and I get CASH. And, like I said, it's ONLY neighbors from the local area. (You can choose to meet wherever you want as well.)
It's really awesome. I go to Goodwill once a week and flip everything. My husband can't believe it...lol.
But I do believe it's because I live in a great area that utilizes the crap out of the site, I don't know about other 'hoods in other cities or states.
It's worth checking out - I am soooo glad I did. I paid for our trip to Hawaii this year! I am going like gangbusters cuz I know, sooner or later, that the powers that be will catch on and start fooling around with something that works great as it is - or start making "rules" and charge fees. I'm riding this wave until it crashes.....
Right now it's a "Virtual Garage Sale" and it is awesome.

Thanks for posting! After resisting or being s-l-o-w to adapt to selling changes, may mantra now is 'give it a go' so I'll check it out!

Welcome to the board.
Yep, my ND is pretty active too in the selling area plus several selling/buying groups have sprouted out where you have to have an address in the same zip code to be a member.
I have several heavy or breakable items that I keep planning to list on those sites but I have gotten off track with reselling and keep finding other projects that I would rather do.

I've definitely thought of going that route for larger items I need to get rid of, but my NextDoor unfortunately isn't that active - a few things come up for sale but there isn't a lot of interest. Gardening stuff and people selling shrubs etc., seem to do OK. Finding and rehoming lost pets does excellently, but not much buying/selling. I did have my old motorcycle to sell but turns out my next door neighbor bought it lol.

My ND was a dud. It was almost all postings about lost and found pets. I finally closed out my account. It would be worth a try though if one has a good, active ND.

Ours has a lot of people pissing and moaning about kind of ridiculous things - I get the feeling they don't get out much - and the usual clutch of right wing ranters who have to drag politics into EVERYTHING, whatever the heck it has to do with people getting shrubs stolen out of their yards I have no idea. I have a feeling it's why people don't participate that much. One good thing that DOES happen and why I continue using it (other than the pets posting so I can keep an eye out when I'm running or riding) is that we have a real problem with B&E, porch piracy, yard theft, etc., because it's so overgrown in places, and people are very proactive about posting suspicious activity, including videos if they have cameras.
ETA: The ND near us is a lot more active, though.

I'm a bit rural so ND isn't a good option here.
I have done well using Offer Up for all kinds of things, especially the big, heavy or breakable items I would never want to ship.

I just took a cruise through our Offer Up and I have never seen so much junk. Like outside tables that are sitting in the bushes all dirty and nasty looking. They don't even wash them off.
And then the 40 lb. box of tomatoes for $15.
A Hello Kitty microwave for $150.

I know someone who makes a killing on OfferUp but I also see mostly weird rubbish. Is it localized? There's a lot of weird rubbish in my area, the majority of it covered with moss. I wonder what they do with the good stuff?

I also use OfferUp and LetGo, but they aren't as profitable as ND.

My ND is all about the homeless and crime. I wouldn't want anyone in my neighborhood (or surrounding for that matter) to come to my home or know my first/last name. That's just inviting robbery and identity theft here I have sold some on FB Marketplace, but I've never had anyone from my neighborhood buy anything. Glad it's working for you. We all have to find as many outlets as we can.

Interesting, soungs like it's working well for you.
But no, not for me. Nextdoor privacy settings & issues are even worse than FB, if there is such a thing. When I read about how far-reaching their data mining is & their privacy issues are, there's no way I would ever give them my info. It's a shame, b/c I find lost dogs all the time, but I refuse to use FB, so no way I'd use one that's worse.
