Today I visited my local GW and they were selling a stack of Postal Priority Flat Rate Boxes for $11.30. I found a manager and told her that I wasn't sure that was legal and that I thought she should know before a postal employee saw them. She acted like I had grown 2 heads and walked off. I guess I'll just mind my own business from now on.

This same GW has also started taking all pantyhose out of the packaging and throwing them in top rack. Who in their right mind would purchase hose at .99 after they have been pulled by everyone and his brother and are snagged to heck and back.

Were they by chance pre-paid priority boxes? Otherwise who would buy them?

Some stores are their own worst enemies and have no idea what is legal. They think because they are a 'charity' that they can do anything they want and are immune from the law.

Were they by chance pre-paid priority boxes? Otherwise who would buy them? Most people have no idea you can get boxes for free at the PO or online.

Nope not pre-paid. Just plain flat rate boxes.

The pantyhose thing is stupid too - not only the snags, but how the heck do you know the size? Are you supposed to go try them on in the dressing room?

I've seen them for sale at thrifts before. I think it was the SA here & the GW too come to think of it.

I've seen it a couple times over the last 10 or so years. I just shake my head. Yes, it's illegal. But DUH to the moron who buys it.

I informed a thrift once that selling the Priority boxes was illegal and they didn't appreciate it there, either.
Almost made me want to call the PO and tell them about it...

Go post about it on your local GW's facebook page. Around here, corporate management gets annoyed when folks post items like this…which is why we do it (and the store managers/employees suggest it ).

GWs don't care. Mine had a very fake coach purse in the cabinet on bid one day. I asked to look at it and pointed out it was a fake. To my surprise the clerk said they knew but they don't guarantee it's authentic, it's up to the buyer to know what they are buying. The bid was over $150.

Last week I saw a bundle of PM boxes in the bins.
And my GW has the same story when it comes to purses-- buyer beware, we don't guarantee a thing.

I was at a yard sale Saturday and an acquaintance of mine was also there. There was a PO bulk mail box there -- the kind you get and give back to the PO. My friend put her stuff in it and was going to take it to give it back to the PO. They attempted to charge her $5 for the box, but she let them know straight away that it is ILLEGAL to sell the box and it belongs to the PO. They ended up not charging her.
Still hate my GWs here. My son was with me Monday and they had a guitar at one. Had $129 on it. My son did some quick phone research and discovered that particular model of that brand regularly sells for about $25-$30. AND it was missing some strings.
I can guarantee you they will NEVER go down on the price, either.

Yes, with so much information available on the internet it's really hard to find great bargains at the thrifts anymore. I really hate when they have something priced and you turn it over and the sticker shows the original price was less than what they are asking for it.
