I laughed before I read the caption. Someone in that supermarket deserves a raise.

OK, Kritter, that should have come with a trigger warning! When I first moved to Florida, I had the pleasure of actually seeing a "palmetto bug" flying across the room. Yikes!

LOL When I lived in a high rise in Honolulu many years ago, I was trapped in an elevator with one of those giant dive bombing flying fuc*kers.
I was punching buttons for any floor while screaming at the top of my lungs all the way down to the lobby.

Wow! I bow to your superior horror story! It was a scene out of a High Rises From Hell movie. It was a lifetime ago but I still remember it to this day.
Fortunately if one of those bastards gets in my house today, the herd of cats dispatches it in short order. They don't eat it but leave the crumpled body where I can find it and reward the killers with treats.
A job well done and definitely worth a treat.

It was winter when I moved to ABQ. The roaches move really slow in cold weather...so slow that Hootie would look at the roach, look at me like "WTH?" and walk off without killing it. Talk about a short attention span!

I had just put down my book and turned off my lamp. It was totally dark. Then I heard it coming down the hall bumping into walls as it flew toward me.
Our house was near a national forest in Conroe, Texas. We were surrounded by lots of tall trees, pine, oaks, hickories, etc. They were home to the Texas tree roach. It’s a little smaller than the Florida palmetto bug, but still 2” or more. They occasionally wander into homes.
It must have started back toward my light just before I turned it off and couldn’t adjust its flight. I pulled the sheet over my head. I heard it fly over the lamp and crash into the wall. I jumped up, turned on the overhead light and grabbed something to use to beat it to death. My husband finally woke up and together we won the battle.

We had a cricket infestation the first year I moved to Dallas. They were EVERYWHERE. I was in the grocery store and one went up my pants leg. I was screaming and shaking my leg and hopping up and down and trying to get the damn thing out. Lots of customers were very entertained

We don't have any of the above mentioned insects here (that I've seen), but every spring, we get June bugs. All I have to do is hear one of those little buggers flying or bumping on the screens and it gives me the heebie-jeebies. I spent 2 hours one night hunting one down that got into our bedroom. No way I could sleep with that monster in my room!
I'm not afraid of much in this world, but those things...UGH! Started when I was a kid and had 2 fly into my hair.

OMG June bugs are right up there too but not as bad..
The ones here have kinda sticky legs/feet and they don't just brush off if they don't want to brush away.

We've had the occasional flying roach here. Haven't seen any in years. But one night I had one in my bedroom. It wasn't hiding. Tried to suck it up with the vacuum cleaner attachment with no luck. Then I noticed it was attracted to light. So I go in bed, turned off the lamp and went to sleep. It was gone next morning. I googled roaches that were attracted to light and discovered it was probably a wood roach. They live outdoors and, though large, aren't disgusting.
Crickets are hell to get rid of once they get in your house. I remember one driving my dad nuts because it got behind the sofa.

You don't want crickets in your house here -scorpions really like crickets (as in, crickets attract scorpions - eeeekkkk).

I don't want crickets in my house, scorpions or not. Texas cockroaches hate the light. They scurry around in the darkness and flee when the light comes on. The few ones that get by the cats suffer the suction of the vacuum cleaner.
