Influencers...I hate that term. Seriously, this just proves they are idiots.

Wow, I'm sure the people who purchased the supposedly high end shoes were pissed to be made to look foolish, but I guess they're not the ones who normally shop at Payless so Payless didn't care if they pissed them off.

::wheeze:: That's pretty funny!
“I would pay $400, $500,” said one influencer. “People will be like ‘where did you get those?'”
Pretty much sums up 'influencers'. Payless gets huge props from me for doing this.

Good for them. I saw the commercial last night and assumed it was staged. Whenever I see LC Lauren Conrad tops I always think how much they’d go for if they were sold at Anthropologie. The clothes are beautiful and unique and while I don’t think a $40 - $50 blouse is exactly cheap, it’s not coveted like something from the anthro line because it’s from Kohl’s.

These influencers are as led by the nose as anyone else - I'm reminded of them and their public as an endless circle of nose-to-tail elephants, plodding along, going round and round in circles.

Payless reimbursed them: While the purchases were real, influencers did get their cash back after paying hundreds and they also left with free shoes for their trouble.

Did anyone try saying the "designer" name outloud? It pretty much gives it away....

Not to those shoe divas who have never heard of Payless.

I can't believe they couldn't tell the difference between decent quality shoes and Payless. I run across Christian Siriano Payless shoes at the thrifts fairly often. He has some cute styles but the construction and materials leave a lot to be desired.

Chinese uncured glue. That's what I often smell.
When there was that Missoni for Target nonsense and people were ga-ga over the clothing, I recall one person saying "the quality is there". Really. I went into the local Targey just after the craze and the shoes hadn't moved at all - they had a huge, and I mean huge, display with both the pumps and the flats. I'm not particularly sensitive to scent but the stink of plastic glue was enough to knock you out.

Maybe they thought it was the smell of fine leather?
