I forgot I had stuff listed there. Luckily, I know where all the tapes are, so it wasn't lost or anything. I am still amazed anyone sells anyone there, considering their fees:
Sold for: $3.75 Shipping: $3.99 Total Paid: $7.74
Closing Fee: $1.80 (flat charge on every sale) Per Item Fee: $0.99 (flat charge on every sale because I'm not a Professional Seller) Ref Fee on Item: $0.56 (15% on item price) Ref Fee on Ship: $0.60 (15% on shipping price) Total Fees: $3.95
Item Cost: $0.10 Shipping: $2.66 Total: $2.76
Total In: $7.74 Total Out: 6.71 Total Profit: $1.13
One thing that I find funny is that for media sellers, they give a $3.99 shipping allowance and then they take 15% of what they give you. Of course, if you can consistently sell over 40 items per month, you should go Pro Seller and pay the monthly fee. That will negate the 99 cent per item fee.
Now if this had sold on eBay:
Sold For: $3.75 Shipping: $3.99 Total Paid: $7.74
FVF on Item: $0.45 FVF on Ship: $0.48 PayPal: $0.52 Total Fees: $1.45
Item Cost: $0.10 Shipping: $2.66 Total: $2.76
Total In: $7.74 Total Out: $4.21 Profit: $3.53
This is why I always find it funny when people in the forums say they are going to Amazon because eBay fees are so high...Make me laugh every time.

Amazon is really expensive to sell on for small sellers.

It's expensive for sellers of any size. We picked up a new accounting client here in PHX and they sell on Amazon. Their total fees to Amazon are about 55% of sales. Meaning they take home 45% , and that's before their other expenses are deducted. Last year their net profit margin was about 10%-12%. Not good IMO.

Amazon is the biggest game in town. Stands to reason that you have to pay to play on their playground.
I ordered 3 things from Amazon last Monday and they said I might not get them until after Christmas. Maybe would have been sooner if I had Prime but doesn't matter because I am in no rush and the prices with free shipping were worth the wait.

I just always think it's funny when people complain about eBay's fees and say they are heading to Amazon where it's cheaper. I know not all of them sell media, but in almost all (if not all) fees are higher. I would sell CDs on Amazon if I could, but they are gated and I can't send them the proper documents.

I think it's funny when I hear them saying that on ETSY! After Etsy put the 5% penalty charge (which is what I call it - I don't care how they want to massage it) on shipping, there was this outcry of going somewhere cheaper, like eBay or Amazon. Um...Etsy IS cheaper - no shop fees, 5% fee, but a pain in the arse for SEO. eBay is the second priciest game in town of any major website but still pretty reasonable, and Amazon is ridiculous. Someone is always bragging about eCrater on Ina's blog - later on they said they had 9000 items listed and had a sale almost every single day! A...sale.a.day. 9000 items. Ugh. You get what you pay for (though I think Amazon is really stretching it).

Over180 million items in 5 days. Not too shabby when it comes to exposure.
"This Monday, November 26, was Amazon’s single biggest shopping day in the company’s history, with consumers purchasing over 180 million items during the ‘Turkey 5’, the company's name for the five days of shopping from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday.
Customers on the site purchased more than 18 million toys and 13 million Fashion items between Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined."

I'd like to know the ratio of Amazon items to 3rd party seller items tho.

I have never had a problem with an Amazon purchase.

The dropshipper I met at open sells about 2k-5k amazon items a day on one of his accounts. His net is less than $1 an item. Not bad for a days work and he probably does better than a lot of people that actually send in inventory.

Just got an email from Amazon that one of the items that was scheduled to ship after Christmas will be at my door tomorrow.
UPS is already delivering in Penske trucks here so last weekend's online sales overall must have already overwhelmed UPS normal delivery.

Here we've had people in private cars dropping off Amazon packages. Yup, I ordered something two weeks ago to be delivered to work. It said to be delivered by 8PM. Well at 5PM (closing time) it hadn't arrived, so I didn't plan on waiting in my car until 8PM. I got a notice through the app that it was 7 stops away and it showed me their GPS location, so I waited. I saw the dot on my screen getting closer and expected a Amazon van. It was a guy in his Hybrid that delivered it.

I have had deliveries by private car also and here lately white cars with Amazon in red on their sides.
I think the UPS Pensky trucks were delivering from all the other online orders from websites besides Amazon.

My item that was coming from Amazon after Christmas, then was scheduled for tomorrow just showed up at my front door 15 minutes ago. I didn't see who delivered it but too early for my UPS delivery guy so probably delivered by a car.

Well, at least that might cut down on the thieves who follow Amazon vans to steal the packages as they are dropped off.

Well, at least that might cut down on the thieves who follow Amazon vans to steal the packages as they are dropped off. I had that service, and when my item was marked as delivered in my account, there was also a photo of it sitting on my porch, so it also covers Amazon - I think that's smart. And yes, if you know it's coming, it gives a chance to watch for it. Mail theft is a problem all over and we have it bad - a few days ago a couple of thugs actually just cut to the chase and accosted a letter carrier in his truck and just stole the packages. No one was hurt and the thieves were apprehended before they got very far (our little police force is very efficient) taken into custody and the mail recovered. But geez - that's really bad.
