Got our Xfinity bill last week. Over $300 for X1, phone and Internet. We called and downgraded to a slim X1 package but lost my fAvorite channel and hubby lost his. We have 5 boxes so they are now charging us $40 more. We have 2 smart TVs but neither one can handle the Xfinity streaming app😡
So bought one Roku stick and signed up for Philo which has the two channels we want to add. Hubby got it set up so we are buying 2 more Roku and will turn in two or maybe 3 boxes. Will switch the one Roku stick between several of the TVs. One tv is in my office and another in the workout room. Neither get used more than an hour or two a week right now.
we also have prime.

I have a Roku, I like it. I need to cancel my subscription to the Roku channel though. I signed up for a free trial and forgot to cancel before the 30 days were up. There isn't anything on the Roku channel I want to watch. I have a netflix subscription and a cbs.com subscription. That pretty much takes care of whatever I might want to watch. My roku unit was only $29.99 I think.

I got rid of cable a few years ago haven't regretted it for one second. I have hundreds of dvds and just streamed everything else (Netflix, Prime and Youtube) on various tablets. This past Prime Day I treated myself to the Toshiba Fire Smart tv and woo hoo. My internet and phone is still over $100 and I am looking to cut that back in the coming year. Before that I used a Magnavox dongle to stream on my ancient tube tvs.

His Samsung smart tv isn’t supposedly compatible with updating. Not happy about that because that was one of the boxes we were going to dump.

I dumped all my boxes except for the DVR. The Roku XFinity app has come a long way in the last couple of months. I don't miss those extra boxes either.

I had a Roku streaming stick and found it wouldn't work with the security settings on the Comcast modem that we had unless I wanted to make my wireless unsecure. So, never got to use it and now since I moved a year ago have no idea where it even is.

Comcast is saying they are going to start charging for using the app. Not sure how that affects xfinity customers. They say $7.50 a month.

I’d pay it if I could get rid of the DVR 😁😁

I love my Roku. I'm going to test using it for my Comcast box to see if I can send the box back. I'd rather pay $7.50 if they do that for the app than $10 for something that I have always felt really should be included in the package.
I don't have a TV in the guest room but I've had bronchitis and the guest room really is the nicest room in the house and wanted to rest in there. I could watch TV on my laptop but unless the screen is tilted just right, it's hard to see. So here's a tip. I took a big monitor I don't use anymore and plugged the Roku into it. Since it's a monitor there's no sound, so I used the remote control app and selected the private listening and then connected to a Bluetooth speaker. Works great.

Also, my last couple trips I've taken, I downloaded the XFinity Go app on my phone. I could download shows and watch them offline (while in the air!).

Took back 4 cable boxes today. Keeping one for now - the DVR one. Got a stick for each tv because hubby doesn’t want to be bothered moving them.
Of course he agreed to the contract with Xfinity last week and now he wants to back out. I told him he signed up for 2 years.

I’ve never watched TV much, especially since my divorce as ex had it on all the time and it was constant background noise. Now I like the quiet. But, if I did want to start watching it, i would be lost as how to do it. There have been so many changes in just the last few years, it’s crazy!

There are a lot of changes, Somany.
Love, love, love my Roku. When I called to dump Direct TV, they sent me to customer retention. They offered me full package for 24.99 a month and that includes the HBO channels.
I mostly watch Amazon Prime and Hulu. There are a few shows DH watches on Direct, so we'll keep it. I guess they're really hurting.
