As most of you know, we added Periwinkle to the home and after a few tense days, she and Gypsy are finally buds. They groom each other and play, sometimes they fight, but it doesn't last too long. However, we got Periwinkle fixed today. After bringing her home, Gypsy is acting like she's a foreign intruder. She's keeping her distance and hissing when Peri comes near. Peri is like "hey Gypsy, I'm home sans reproductive organs, let's snuggle" and Gypsy is like "nope, not having it". Of course, I'm paraphrasing Is this common? We're keeping them apart somewhat, since Peri is still recovering, but Gypsy is just being weird

Gypsy smells "vet" on the other cat and doesn't like that smell.
It will blow over.

I was thinking something like that. She also saw the cat carrier and ran like the Dickens (even tho she's only been in it once lol). I just want my baby kitties to be snuggly again

Every time Jamie goes to the vet, even if Cassie goes, too, Cassie hisses at her violently every time Jamie gets near her. It takes about a day or two for the scent to wear off. Jamie does not have this behavior for some reason.

Gypsy is starting to come around. Peri walked up to her earlier and they bumped noses, then it's like Gypsy snapped out of it and hissed. Then Peri was standing next to her and Gypsy started to groom her, then realized what she was doing and hissed. It's kind of funny. It's like Gypsy forgets that she doesn't like Peri's smell and then remembers and does a random hiss. LOL

Just look at that adorable tabby FACE! What a cutie-pie --- no wonder Gypsy hates him...

Awww, they're both cute. I had a cat that couldn't stand the vet stink on HERSELF so we'd have a grooming marathon every time we got home. What I'd be doing next time is getting some of the vet stink off Periwinkle and rubbing it on Gypsy.

Has anyone else noticed that their cat/s look smaller when you get them home from the vet? Just for a few hours.
It's as if they shrink into themselves for defence purposes and need time to expand again once back to safety.
Or am I imagining it?

Oh hail yes it is possible. The time I took Keaton to the vet he was so desperate to flatten all 16+ pounds of him into invisibility that I fully expected his eyes to migrate to the top of his head.
