OK, so my neighbors kid cuts lawns someplace in Queens and he found a newborn kitten. He looked all around and waited to find the mother. No mother, no other kittens. It is very vocal and it’s eyes are still shut. He stopped in a local vets office before leaving the area and they said no fleas, maybe 2 days old, cannot identify sex yet, get a bottle dropper and good luck. So, long story short, he brings it on my stoop and gave it to me. They have allergies. Ok, I am happy to have it.
I ran to Petco with it, got the bottle, got him/her to take some milk. I am trying to keep it warm and rub it’s belly. Is there anything I should know and how will it survive when I work? Does it need to eat every hour? It is so cute and so loud!
Pics as soon as it wakes up.

OMG, so tiny!! No help, except I know you need to use a warm, wet, washcloth (or something similar) to rub its bottom after each feeding to get it to go potty

Sites with some good info:
I usually feed every 2 hours around the clock, including in the middle of the night. With little ones like that their health can turn south in a matter of hours so its important to keep nutrition & fluids in them.
Moms not around to make it pee & poop by licking so you will need to rub its bottom with a cloth moistened with warm water. It stimulates them to do their business.
It must be kept warm. For bitty bitty ones like that I have a vest I wear with a pocket on the inside at chest height & I just tuck them in there & carry them around all day. Keeps them warm plus they can hear my heartbeat which helps keep them calmer & not yelling.
Good luck! Its going to take up a lot of your time but the reward at the end will be worth it.

Are you using kitten formula? Don't use regular milk. Some fosters use goats milk but I have always used the kitten formula. Shirley is a better bottle feeder than I am so listen to what she says. Kittens like that just don't show up alone so I expect the momkat was moving them away from the lawn kid and didn't get the last one before the kid found it.

Regular milk will give them the runs... and STINKY runs at that. Plus it doesnt give them the nutrition they need.
I use the powdered formula, it is easy to mix.
I agree on the MomKat Kritter. My first thought was she was moving them & got interrupted or dropped one & was too scared to go back with the kid there.

I use the powered stuff too. Sometimes the liquid kitten stuff is still too rich for the really young ones.
Those are really late season kittens especially for up in Clean's area.

It’s kitten formula. It’s kind of messy because sometimes it is dribbling out of the baby’s mouth, but some did get in there. So far I fed 3x. I will get a heating pad and get up during the night to feed it. It really likes the warmth and being held.
Upon further questioning, it appears there was some construction next door to where the kitten was found. You are probably correct that momma hurried to move them and one was left once she saw him. He said there are feral type cats nearby. This kitten is very feisty, moves a lot. It may have gotten away from the mom even.

I doubt the kitten got away from the mom no matter how feisty it is. Those momkats keep a pretty tight rein on the little ones even when they are walking around on wobbly legs.
With all that activity in the location I bet the momkat didn't get them all moved in time and that little one got left behind.

I am so upset. The little guy did not make it. He was drinking, he did pee, but not poop. He never opened his eyes yet. I don’t know if there was something wrong with it and the mother rejected it or he just was way too young not to have her. It broke my heart.

Im so sorry Clean. Unfortunately that happens a lot with the itty bitty ones.
Their health can turn in the blink of an eye & no matter how much you have done they just don't make it.

Clean, those tiny ones born in the outdoors have the odds stacked against them from the second they come into this world even with their momkats with them.
We do what we can and when we lose them and both Shirley and I have lost more than our share, I always feel that at least that little one didn't suffer and die alone. For the short time he was with us, he knew love and caring.
Thank you for loving and caring.
