Looking at a board & train place for one of our dogs (cattle dog mix, 85lbs of super stubborn, super curious, super smart, dog muscle) and they have an amazing success rate for training but they use an E-collar.... It's expensive so before I contact them I'm looking for personal experiences. Though this company (not our branch) apparently trained Brett Michaels from Poison's dog so maybe that's all the testimony I need portlandoregondogtrainers.com/

Any dog training method won't have long term success unless the dog owners are trained as well. I tried something similar for my Eskie. Didn't work, but it wasn't totally the collar or the dog's fault. Then I found this: www.amazon.com/No-Bad-Dogs-Woodhouse-Way/dp/0671541854Her tips really work. I had to train me as much as I had to train my dog.

I know that I need training as well, and all the programs I'm looking at train the dogs' humans too. We've got a shit-ton of dog training books, but really would prefer to have a professional train him. I've got someone coming over tomorrow for private lessons but I'm really leaning toward sending him somewhere
