This learning curve...
I have a person who wants to purchase a kimono from my Etsy store, but they don't want to pay with paypal. Apparently the site is telling them that I accept Visa but when they try to pay with their Visa card, nothing happens. I had no idea my shop said anything of the sort, just that I take paypal and Etsy gift cards. She said she couldn't find anything in the Help section. I checked it out and found where I can accept CCs and bank transfers. The bank transfers are fine - I'd rather get those than fuss with CCs, but it appears that I am now also signed up to take other CCs in an account they create for me.
With a week's hold because I'm new ::sigh::
I hope I don't lose this sale. My first sale got snagged up when Etsy defaulted to an old profile address instead of using the current PP address I had entered for PP payments. That finally got untangled last night (the buyer apparently only has access once a week). The second sale went through no problem. Now this one.
What I can't figure out is why they said I took Visa when I don't. Perhaps the buyer was confused about seeing Visa as a payment that paypal processed?
Well, I guess I don't know what I'm saying - I feel like an idiot, am confused and have a bad cold, so I'm kind of confused-confused feeling like an idiot.

I don't know about Etsy, but you can send an invoice via PP to anyone, and when they go to pay it, they can pick pay as guest which lets them put in any credit card they want, and does NOT require that they log into PayPal.

Etsy calls it Direct Checkout - it's how buyers make a purchase without having to use Paypal. You can see if you have opted into it if you go to the top button - Your Shop > Finances > Accepted Payments. More than 1/2 my payments are Direct Checkout. Here is a forum post that helped jog my memory as to where to find it :^) www.etsy.com/teams/7718/questions/discuss/16094104/They are always changing the listing page around on Etsy, and I usually just go to the forums to find out where anything is!

Thank you for that - I had gone through the help menu and found my way there and it apparently worked, despite the so-called 'waiting' period - maybe it's a waiting period to get the $$$ (which would make sense) - I thought it was a waiting period until anyone could purchase (which didn't make sense) - fortunately, the buyer tried again right away. This stupid cold, I can barely think straight and probably misread the alert on signup.
Looks like the people on the chat board are finding Direct Checkout (ha ha, now I know the name for it) very handy to have.

Direct checkout is fine. I want to say they do a direct transfer to your account once a week, but it's super convenient and you can take CCs with no hassle. If you print postage through Etsy, you don't pay right away for it, they just add it to your current bill. I found it extremely easy.

Thanks for telling me the ins and outs! I'm all for easy payment and that's a great system. I set up a recurring payment method so my account would be current and I could have the postage billed. It's a bit different from eBay and Velvet Garden so I'm feeling a little backasswards, so to speak lol.
