"On August 30, 2018, California will require certain sellers to display a Proposition 65 warning on online retail sites if products contain chemicals and/or substances that may impact the health of California buyers. To enable sellers to show this flag, eBay is adding a new item specific to listing flows. You will be able to add the newly created “Prop 65 warning” to your listing, available in most categories via your desktop. **More info in link below** community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/Updates-to-California-Proposition-65-Going-into-Effect/ba-p/28905524

Sellers may be surprised at what items fall under Prop 65. One easy way with used goods is to try and find a new one of what you're selling (eBay, retailer, anywhere) and see if there is a Prop 65 warning on the original packaging.
I know off hand that things like Christmas lights, outdoor patio lights, some Halloween costumes and some costume jewelry, craft supplies and craft paint, etc. fall under Prop 65. I'm sure there is more, that's just what I can think of that I've encountered recently at the store or buying new online.

That warning is so prolific here that we really don’t even pay attention to it. BUT, when my son worked at Kohls, occasionally out of state people would be very concerned when they saw the warning.

You Californians are so weird No. No. I know what you mean how it just becomes second nature to see it on everything. Like the "contents may be hot" stamped on coffee lids. No one really pays attention. It will be interesting to see what categories it will be required on. Clothing? Shoes? Jewelry?

It will be interesting to see what categories it will be required on. Clothing? Shoes? Jewelry? It should be on costume/fashion jewelry for sure. A lot of what comes from China does not comply (at least from the various wholesalers anyway).

I see it pretty much on any aisle that has home decor, dishes, tableware, etc. I don't recall ever seeing it in clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry, etc., but like I said, I don't pay attention to it anymore.

Since I don’t work for eBay and I am my only employee, I’m not worrying about it. If it ends up that there’s an announcement that all sizes of sellers on eBay will need to comply, I’ll worry about it then. It goes into effect tomorrow, right?

Maybe ebay should just give sellers the option to exclude selling to California. Even if I had 10 employees. I’d be annoyed to have to be responsible for providing the info. Just something else to suck up your time.
