I've decided to import all my items to Bonanza. Sales there stink in general, but it's free and I don't really have to do anything since the sync supposedly will bring all my new eBay listings over.
I was looking at CD sales and 2800 CDs were sold on the entire site...over the last year (233 per month). Since the beginning of the year (Jan-July) on eBay I've sold 1820 (260 per month). How sad is it that I alone am outselling an entire site? Not holding out much hope that Bonanza will bring in more than the occasional sale.
But you have NO IDEA whether any of those sellers are helping themselves out by promoting or even using decent SEO. Last time I imported stuff there (was several years ago) the import went smoothly. I thought of you when I read the Fall sellers update and wondered how you'd manage with the fee increase. Moving your stuff elsewhere is a good idea- at least Google doesn't have any issues or history with Bonanza unlike eBay.
I was looking through their (pathetic) forums and saw one seller who posted that they were happy and excited because they sold their first item for $6.00 and it was their 4 month anniversary. Man, oh man...

Bonanza has received several infusions of venture capital. They refuse to use any of it for advertising. If they had advertised years ago they'd be much larger with more sales now, IMO.
Jeremy, are you going to try eCrater, eBid or Mercari?

I'm currently in the process of setting up a free store using the included options on GoDaddy hosting. I registered (and it can be seen at) http://www.ripcitymusic.com.
I'm considering Shopify, but having a hard time with the costs. Tried eCrater awhile ago and it just takes too long to list there and their importer sucks. Never tried eBid or Mercari.
I will keep Pantlandia open because my pricepoint is high enough to absorb the added fees and I ship with tracking. SCM on the other hand, not sure.

Yeah, and exactly where did that money go? All I see on there are pay to play boost packs. I tried selling on there for about 6 months.

Yup, I've always said Bonanza is a money grab for Bonanza only. I think they prey on eBay cast offs who don't have anywhere else to sell and don't really care if anything sells or not because the sellers are so desperate they will buy Turbo Packs and monthly memberships to get traffic. And if you want them to do ANY advertising, you have to select the 19% FVF option and on top of that, they encourage you to do at least a 1% discount on your eBay imported items. So you're paying for traffic to see your discounted items and have to pay almost double FVF to boot.
Umm, thanks for the reality check about Bonanza then... gonna pass on them. If I wanna play 'hide me, hide me not' with a venue I'll stay where I'm at. I'm considering non-eBay options again and was curious about eCrater- we listed there such a LONG time ago I can't remember whether we had any sales or not. After reading their reviews I don't know what to think; the reviews are mostly negative but they're whiney reviews of bad transactions with individual sellers, not the site itself. A site with a hands-off approach is attractive to me but if they don't monitor scammy bad sellers that's a serious problem.
I did the Bonanza import. It's convenient because I just have to list on ebay and it goes automatically over to Bonanza as well. I usually get 2 or 3 sales a month there, except during the summer - I only get 1 sale a month. For some reason, I get more multiple item sales on Bonanza than I ever have on ebay. I do not give a discount on Bonanza and I try to remember to save up my points so that I can get a discount on the FVF's when something sells.

I hope I am not being too dumb about this............ but can you explain how that works? If you import to Bonanza (& I would have to do much research to find out how to go about that step also) & an item sells there, do you just cancel the listing on eBay? If you do that too often, won't you get dinged for canceling listings before they would naturally end? These days I am afraid to sneeze too close to my computer for fear eBay will penalize me.

I can speak to the canceling - as long as they are not auctions with bids, there is no penalty to canceling listings on eBay, or I'd be out on my snooter years ago. I routine delist and rejig things.
When I was on Bonanza, I thought there was an 'approval' process (mentioned above) for sales there so you'd have a chance to cancel it on eBay (a bit like Tradesy) - if they still do that I'd open up on Bonanza again.

IDK anything abt Bonanza, but just to second what Chap said, you can end listings whenever you want, I do it every day, with no penalty. The only thing you can't end early is an auction with bids, without a penalty. Since I almost never do auctions, it never comes up. There are no dings for ending listings early, except for that 1 scenario.

Bonanza LOL! I've been there for a few years. I think I sold about 7 things. Every buyer is brand new to the site. It's truly a joke!
The import is easy but they don't remove things too often. If you sell something on their site they wil end the Ebay item for you. That's about the only good thing. Plus I use it to recover listings that Ebay has lost. That's the only reason I still have account there.

Otherwise don't waste your time.
That's actually a good thing - eBay has lost so many listings now that it's a pile o' time to get them reinstated - some of the B&B stuff I just tossed into donations. It would be nice to have them backed up somewhere.
Did any of you get an eBay survey today? The topic was if sellers would be interested in having eBay provide a photo hosting service on their site. Are they insane? They lost thousands of pictures that were already loaded into listings, and..... they lose entire listings. Who would let them host all of their photos? Anyone? Hands........

Hmm, free hosting of course? Bet not- that's an untapped source of income for them. Whoops, did I 'say' that out loud?
Nope. We didn't hear a thing.
Side note..... they mentioned NOTHING about free or "at a small cost" to sellers. But............ we all know it will cost us in one way or another. sigh......
Why can't they just concentrate on fixing the square wheel they already have without adding more bumps? another sigh..............

Are they talking about having a service where primary storage is cloud storage? I don't store anything on anybody else's website, cloud, etc., if I don't have a local copy - there's too much chance of file corruption, loss, etc., eBay or not.

When you set up your Bonanza account you tell them where to import listings from (ebay). You then have the option of manual transfers, which means that Bonanza only copies over your items when you tell it to. OR, set if up to automatically copy when you add listings on ebay. (That is what I do) You also have the option of manually deleting items on ebay that have sold on Bonanza. I used to do this, but I am now using the option that Bonanza automatically cancels the ebay listing when it sells on Bonanza. It is working well so far. I DO have to go to ebay and delete the listing from my unsolds so that I don't accidently relist.
It makes it much easier to list it (on ebay) and forget it on Bonanza. I do NOT pay any extra fees on Bonanza. It is just a way to get your money. I do the lowest, cheapest tier. I have noticed that most of my Bonanza sales happen shortly after my ebay listing ends. I'm assuming it is usually someone that planned to buy and missed the ending so they googled and found it on Bonanza.
I took a break last summer and put both my stores on vacation. When I was back I noticed that I had hundreds more listings on Bonanza than ebay. So, I ended all my listings on ebay and relisted them one by one. As I listed each item I deleted it off of Bonanza. When I finished listing all the listings on ebay, everything that was left on Bonanza were the ones that mysteriously disappeared on ebay! So, I was able to just copy and paste to redo everything, then re-upload my pictures. Somehow there were a few listings that I didn't even have the pictures anymore because I had changed computers. I just copied the pictures off of Bonanza. The picture quality was not as good, but I didn't have to retake all those pictures again.
During the slow summer months I make about 1 sale a month on Bonanza. The rest of the year I average 2-3 sales a month. I rarely get bundles on ebay, but the Bonanza buyers bundle more often so my $$ per sale average is higher on Bonanza than ebay.
